《Mated at first sight》Chapter 12

"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING HERE." My dad yelled at Ashton, who let me tell you almost jumped out of his seat.
"Hi daddy, how are you?" I said nervously, trying to ease the tension in the room.
"Hi sweety, I'm not here to talk about me, how are you. I heard from Kristin what happened. And let me tell you that boy is not going to get away with it. That being said" My dad turned to Ashton. "Like I said before, what do you think you're doing here Ashton. Haven't you done enough damage on my daughter?"
Ashton still looked scared and stood up from his seat. "I am the one who found her and took her to the hospital sir. I wanted to know she was okay if that is okay with you sir." He said nervously.
"Do I have to remind you what I said, at the dinner when I first met you?" My dad said sternly. He walked over to the other side of the bed, gave me a quick peck on my forehead and walked over to where Ashton was standing.
"No sir, you told me that you wanted my word that I would never hurt her again." Ashton stood nervously as he told my dad what he told him.
"And what did you do?"
"I broke my promise and hurt her again. But--" He tried to explain himself.
"No, you broke your promise. My daughter cried for weeks before she finally moved back here. Do you know how much you hurt her? How hard it was for me and her mother to look at our only child, broken? She almost never left her room, barely ate anything and just stayed in her bed. Because of you."
I didn't know I hurt my parents this much by being almost depressed. A tear fell down my cheek and quickly wiped it away before someone else saw.
"I didn't mean to hurt her." Ashton said softly, with a broken voice.
"But you did. How do I know you won't do it again?" My dad said in a serious tone.
"I can't, even if I wanted to. Not that I want to. I can't live without her. I literally can't"
My mom walked in the room. "Hi sweety, I talked to the doctor, you should be able to leave at noon. They want to keep you here for observation a few more hours." She gave me a hug and took a seat beside my bed. "How are you feeling." My mom was or completely ignorant to the fact that dad and Ashton were kind of fighting or just chose to ignore it. Probably the first option.
"I'm okay, still kind of feel like vomiting but I don't feel woozy anymore." I gave her a weak smile.

"That's good." She looked around the room, and saw dad and Ashton standing beside each other.
"Hi Emma" Ashton said shyly. When Ashton and I were dating, my parents insisted that Ashton called them by their first names. Even though he was never really comfortable with it.
"Oh no it's Mrs. Cross for you. You lost the right to call me by my first name when you hurt my baby girl." She said angrily. I guess both my parents hate Ashton. Not that I really blame them.
"I think it is time for you to go Ashton, me and Emma are here now to look after Evie. Like my wife said you only hurt our daughter so if we have anything to say about it, you stay away." My dad said in a serious tone.
"No dad, he took care of me. He can stay." I replied in a stern tone, so that they would know I was serious.
"It's okay Evie, I will text you later okay?"
"No, you will not, like I said before, you're going to stay away." Dad said.
"With all due respect sir, you know I can't do that." Ashton replied to my dad. My dad looked at Ashton and then at me. As he studied me, looking for a reason why he would say that he couldn't stay away. And he found it, the mark on my neck.
"You bit my daughter?" Yeah, I guess my dad was now infuriated.
"She is my mate sir." Ashton said, without a doubt in his voice. Wait what, did seriously everyone around me know about werewolves except me?
"Oh hell no. I will go to the council." Yes, he is furious.
"William." My mother intervened. "She is already marked. There is nothing we can do about it now." She tried to ease the tension.
"But Emma--" Dad said a little calmer. My mom had that effect on my dad. Whenever he was angry, she could always calm him down. I guess if they were wolves, they would be mates. But even as humans I guess they really are soulmates.
"OKAY BACK THE HELL UP" I screamed, now it was my turn to be angry.
"Emma language" My mom gave me a stern look.
"Sorry." I mumbled. "NO. YOU KNOW WHAT, I AM NOT SORRY. WHAT THE HELL MOM AND DAD. DID SERIOUSLY EVERYONE KNOW ABOUT WEREWOLVES EXCEPT ME" I yelled. Yeah, probably not my finest moment. Especially not, while lying in a hospital bed, recovering from being drugged.
"Evie keep your voice down." My dad shushed.
"No dad, I'm sorry but seriously WHAT THE HELL. Why did no one tell me. And be honest with me. For once. Why did we move to Lupus Harbour?" I wanted answers. It seems like everyone was lying to me.

"I am sorry sweety, we wanted to protect you. Look what happened. We never wanted this life for you?" Mom replied looking guilty.
"With all due respect Mrs. Cross, you know this was inevitable. We are destined for each other, so we would have found each other eventually. You know how it works in this world." Ashton said.
"Not if I had anything to say about it." Dad mumbled.
"We know Ashton, but that doesn't take away the fact that you hurt our girl. Not once but twice already." Mom said.
"HELLO PEOPLE, STILL HERE. YOU KNOW THE ONE THAT ASKED A QUESTION THAT NO ONE IS ANWERING." I waved to get the attention back at me.
"Why don't we talk about this at home." Mom gave me a weak smile.
"NO, I want to know, now. You have lied to me long enough, don't you think?"
There was a long silence. My mom and dad looked at each other and finally gave a nod. They have done this all my life. I know it's not a mind link because they don't look lost. They are reading each other. When I was younger, when I asked for something, they always did it. Like they were discussing the question. Guess they still do it.
"We went to Lupus Harbour to help Ashtons dad with a rogue problem." Dad said.
"Why would you help them? We are human. They are not our problem." I replied. Ashton looked kind of hurt at the mentioning of them, like I'm not part of it.
"Yes, we are human, well you were human, not so much anymore thanks to this fuckup." Thanks, dad, for the reminder.
"Hey still here." Ashton growled.
"Sorry Alpha, No not really sorry. You're not my Alpha." Dad said with a smug on his face.
"Well? Why would you help?"
"You know your mom and I work in security, right?" I nodded. "It is a little more complicated than that." I motioned for him to carry on. "We are part of an order or agency that helps to keep peace between humans and werewolves. And also help to keep the existence of werewolves hidden. "
"So, you're like the CIA for the supernatural?"
"Well almost we're called the SNIA, as in Supernatural Intelligence Agency." Mom said.
"So, what do you do exactly?"
"When there is a rouge problem, we help. As, I guess you could call us hunters. But mostly we help to cover up rouge attacks, shifts that had been witnessed by humans and other werewolf related issues." Dad said.
"Did you know?" I asked Ashton.
"Yes, I did." He said hesitantly.
"So, you lied to me, again. Why do you keep lying to me Ashton? Every time I came close to trusting you, something like this happens. When does it stop?" Ashton looked hurt.
"Sweety, you know I am not a big fan of Ashton, but this was not his secret to share. It was ours, like your dad said before, we wanted to protect you. And he is not even allowed to talk about it, he couldn't, even if he wanted to. It is forbidden by the counsel to even mention the name SNIA to someone who doesn't know about it. He could have been stripped of his title and pack and banished to be a rouge or worse sentenced to death if he said anything."
I nodded. "I think I'm going to need some time to think. Can you please leave?"
"Of course, call us if you need anything." Dad said and gave me a kiss on my forehead.
"We will just be in the waiting room." Mom gave me a kiss on my cheek, and they walked out the door.
"Can you please stay?" I asked Ashton, as he was about the leave the room as well.
"Are you sure?" I gave him a quick nod. "Sure of course. Do you need anything?"
"No, I'm okay." I looked at him.
"What is it Evie? I can almost hear your brain creaking."
"I know this is weird, and if you don't want to, I totally understand. I mean I don't even know why I'm asking you this."
"Evie you're rambling again.:
"Right. Sorry."
"Okay Evie use your words. I can't read your mind yet." I laughed.
"Could you maybe lie down with me?" I asked shyly. Ashton looked shocked.
"Are you sure?
"Yeah, it's just, when you're close, I calm down."
"It's the mate bond.
"Yeah, I thought so. If you don't want to, I get it." Ashton walked over to one side of my bed.
"Come on, scootch over." I made some room for him. He got in the bed and pulled me close, so I was laying with my head on his chest. I felt his heart beating really fast.
"Are you nervous?" I asked softly.
"No, why would you think that?" I looked up at him and saw him blushing.
"You're blushing Ash."
"No, it's just warm here. I do not blush."
"Sure." I let it go, for now. I was too tired to debate with him. Although it was kind of cute that he got nervous around me, even though he denied it. I laid by head back on his chest and got comfortable and fell asleep almost straight away.

Reaching for One's Desire: Kane's Ascension

In a world where only wealth and power mattered, he was literally at the bottom of the food chain. He fucking hated it. Always having felt that he was destined for something greater than what was essentially a beggar’s life, Michael held hope that things would change with the arrival of the Day of Gaia’s Gift, which happened exactly halfway through the year. It was the day in which everyone that was fifteen years old was given access to the System and was given a ‘Class’ depending on your aptitude, two if you were exceptional and lucky. It was his hope that he was given at least one class worthy of becoming an Adventurer, which would help him start his path to a life of wealth, fame, luxury and pleasure. Being an orphan that never knew his parents and having no one that he cared for nor that cared for him, it was not surprising that these were Michael’s goals. Little does he know, that he is destined for even greater things.

It is just large enough for a college, a small town, and maybe even a few more unusual sorts of places. Of course, the townsfolk practically know each other as family. Flush-faced regulars can be found toasting just about anything in the Briar's Brew, then, a few streets away, the same haggle of older women stationed themselves on their perch as they did every day from one of the few balconies in Central Square. They fuss away now, spouting the usual gossip as they watch us all from on high. Then there is the College here on the Isle of Red. My college. It has been often described as an unusual place by a good deal of people on the mainland. If they only would visit -why I am sure they'll soon have a change of heart, they may even come to find it a quaint sort of place, odd but in the same way a tattered old quilt can be both odd looking and warm, and especially soft. We teach mostly the same sort of disciplines here, with fantastic and absolutely normal professors.I must conclude that I am quite smitten with myself. The stage is set with a level of perfection that would have astonished me in my youth. They are coming. Derek will follow her. He knows the weight of reality too intimately, but she will be his true north if only for a short time. A beacon in the storm to show him the stunning pastels and brightness the sun may yet refract through his thinner, sharper pieces. Theoline will lead as she always has- well not always, not yet. She holds onto questions feverishly tight, that one. Lights them up inside like a new type of fuel without the slightest worry of being burned. She knows... There is but a certain few who can look at a map and find nothing where I stand but the Atlantic Ocean. Neither, technically, do I. (Hello!
