《Grace》Chapter 42

Renee smiled as we arrived at the hotel. This is the nicest place we've ever vacationed at. All of us.

"Mrs. Colombo," The valet smiled as I handed him my keys and the bellman took our luggage to our rooms.

"Ooo not MRS. Okay Dro," Renee laughed. Shay and her made faces at each other.

"Let's go check in," I rolled my eyes with a small smile on my face. He's playing mind games with me.

He officially officially, yes doubly, proposed last week. Of course, I said yes. I love him and I will wear his last name with my head high.

"Good afternoon," The short man blandly with a pink face once we walked up. He scanned my ring finger and my purse then my earrings. He almost scoffed out loud if I was reading him correctly.

Greg.

"Good afternoon," I smiled. "I'm checking in, for Grace Smith,"

He typed on his computer then made a face.

"Is there a problem?" I asked.

"Your room was changed to the most expensive room in the hotel this morning," He paused with and attitude in is voice. "That raises an alert. Can I see your ID and the credit card that was used to book originally?"

Dro. He was probably trying to surprise me with the upgrade not knowing there's an employee who just so happens to take his job seriously.

"Sure," I sarcastically said. I made a point to slide my Amex card out of my Fendi wallet, along with my photo ID.

"This doesn't match the card of the upgrade," He smugly said.

"My fiancé probably did it to surprise me," I scoffed. Is he serious right now?

"Yeah your fiancé or sugar daddy?" He grumbled with a roll of his eyes.

"What the fuck did he just say?" Renee softly said.

"He really just said that huh?" Shay said.

We aren't about to get loud as much as the ghetto Jamaican in me wanted me to. There's no need for it, I'm about to make a phone call and this will be resolved.

"Okay, I'll just call it to prove it," I wanted to give Dro's name out but simply can't, I don't know who's around me. "Shay call Reno,"

"Huh?" She looked at me. "Your man is in-,"

I gave her a look and she pulled her phone out to call her fiancé.

"Hey babe," She genuinely smiled. "Yeah... well it was but now we're having a problem checking in." She paused. "He's being very racist, babe and sexist,"

She didn't say anything else just put her phone down. They're coming.

"Excuse me, is there a problem?" A familiar voice made me look behind the counter. Two men stood behind the counter. The man from earlier. Calvin Gaines.

"Actually, yes," I said with a slight attitude. "My fiancé paid for my room to be upgraded as a surprise and now your coworker isn't letting me into the room since he believes that story to be false. He believes that we are gold diggers who are scamming, right Greg,"

Calvin's eyebrows raised with a smirk forming around his lips.

"It happens a lot around here, I apologize if you're offended. I'm doing my job. I'm not a racist," His face turned red.

The other man spoke up, "How're you? I'm Gavin the manager here. I do apologize and sensitize with your frustration we just have to call the company and have them contact the cardholder since it was done anonymously. Just give us a few okay?"

"Never denied sexist," I folded my arms. "Either way, you're giving me a hard time. I'll confirm the card number over my phone,"

"Can't do that. Company policy, I told you we've been hit with scamming," Greg looked at Gavin.

Calvin hasn't said a word. He looked at us and then walked away.

"They were worthless," Shay huffed. "So what? We wait?" Greg made a face that confirms her statement.

"Okay, well you can we walk around here since we can confirm that I did indeed book a room?" I asked Greg.

He huffed. "I suppose so, I wouldn't go too far because they can so come back at anytime,"

"Mhm," I simply said. "Where's the closet bar?"

He pointed to his left, my right and there's an opening hallway that had a elegant sign indicating a restaurant.

"I can't believe this," Shay huffed. She pulled her long hair into a loose bun which she often does when she's stressed.

"Yeah this is bullshit, why must he do so much?" I groaned.

"Girl don't blame him! He did it because he loves you, sis. This guy is being a dick. Giving us a hard time because we're sexy, black, rich wives," Renee snapped her fingers and laughed but I could tell she's bothered.

This could have been easier by just giving his name but I literally can't do that, I don't know who is here and who knows his name. I rather deal with this bullshit than compromise our families identity. Him showing his face here will determine if we have this weekend.

We reached the restaurant bar soon and I didn't hesitate to order a rum and coke.

"Can you make that a double?" I asked the female bartender and she nodded. Shay and Renee got daiquiri's to cool them down.

"It won't take them long," Shay said after clearing half of her cup. "It's only about an hour and a half drive, we have about an hour left,"

"Yeah, so we're just gonna drink for the hour? I think not. I'm here to shop so let's get those car keys of yours and go," Renee rolled her eyes.

"We're going to wait at the hotel but I agree that we need to do something fun to make time pass," I told them. I finished my drink and I'm contemplating getting another one. "Hi, can I get another one?" I asked the girl at the bar. "What do you guys want to do?"

We look good right now. Too good to be standing around waiting for our rooms. Let's see what this Hampton's resort hotel is about. We carried our drinks with us as we walked around looking for something to grab our attention.

"Is that a jewelry store in the hotel?" Shay gasps before walking into the shop. The details of the store are stunning, decorated to elegant perfection. Diamonds under the glass cases, along with dozens of other stones.

"Count me in," I laughed.

"How're you lovely ladies?" A soft voice spoke up from behind the counter, a flamboyant man with a wide smile, beamed at us.

"We're doing lovely now," Renee smiles back. "Do you have any children jewelry? I want to get my niece and nephew some,"

"Of course," He gestured to his left where diamond studded children jewelry twinkled in my eyes. I was planning on getting the kids bracelets but if she wants to then be my guest.

While she looked at bracelets to customize, I scanned necklaces for Dro. He'd roll his eyes when he sees what I got him, he's rather me spend it all on myself.

We didn't stay long in the store, we have to come back tomorrow to get the bracelets due to them being customized. I'll come back another time.

"We should head back to the front,". I suggested before Shay bought another item. So far she has a tennis bracelet and matching necklace.

"Fine but I'm coming back once everything is settled," She huffed before smiling at the gay man. "We aren't finished," She winked at him which made him laugh.

"Oh girl I'll be here," He winked back.

The wall back to the front didn't take us much time, I secretly hoped Dro stood there waiting for me but I couldn't see him in sight.

"Anything yet?" I asked Greg. He looked up from the screen in annoyance.

He muttered something to himself but I didn't hear him, the only thing I could catch was "black thots".

"Excuse me?" I asked calmly. "Run that back fi mi please,"

I couldn't get an answer from him before Calvin appeared next to the man. "Is there still a problem?"

"I can not allow them into that upgraded room, cards don't match," Greg repeated himself.

"They can stay in the room, if anything fraudulent comes of it, it's on me," He looked me in my eyes as he spoke to Greg. Who the hell is this man?

"Sir, I can't do that, who do you even think you are?" Greg's face turned red.

Calvin turned to Greg and smirked. "I'm the regional manager of this hotel. So yes, I have that type of credibility. Now I've observed how rude and judgmental you've been to these women, who just so happen to be of color. That's an immediate suspension so we can open an investigation into you. We can't have racist, sexist bigs working here right?"

Greg turned pale. He couldn't even speak after the bomb that was dropped on him. Calvin turned to us with a satisfied smile. "You ladies enjoy yourselves, Grace it's nice to meet you again,"

"Thank you for that, I'm not looking for a relationship. I-,"

"Am engaged. I know," He smiled. "I'm not sure how I didn't pick up on that sooner, ring is hard to miss,"

"Right," I simply said. What is he getting at.

"Ever heard of an entanglement?" He smirked and my mouth dropped. Did this motherfucker really just say that?

"Excuse me? A what? Sir can I have those keys?" I'm trying my endeavor best to not snap in this hotel but good God I'm getting close.

He handed me the gold key card, indicating I have a very expensive room. "An entanglement. Where your man won't have to know,"

"Say some shit like that again and I'll tangle you," My favorite cologne took over my nose as the sexy deep voice of my man rang in my ear. I looked over my shoulder to see Alessandro with a very tight face. He's absolutely pissed right now and he has every right to be after hearing something like that. He hasn't even looked at me yet.

"Now what was the problem with them staying in the room when I paid extra for the upgrade?" He continued not even letting Calvin process his threat.

Calvin went on to explain their policy and so on and so forth with a very nervous expression on his face.

"So that called for the racist and judgmental comments made towards my fiancé? Because she's young and has money she has to be a scammer or a whore? Calvin you can flirt with my woman all day long, but if she rejects you keep it at that. Don't go around her ever again in this hotel nor the streets of Brooklyn," Dro said in a calm voice. If Calvin only knew that he wasn't actually calm, he'd better take this warning.

"I apologize, on my behalf they were allowed to stay in the room," Calvin quickly said.

"Before or after you flirted with her? It doesn't need to be on you, Calvin, I'm here clearing it up. While these women are here they will not be bothered, if they need help they will get it. Am I clear?" Alessandro eyed him down. Calvin nodded and Dro sarcastically smiled then dropped a few bills on the counter.

He finally shifted his gazed to me and a smirk appeared behind his mean demeanor. My stomach knotted as he smirked at me, my knees got weak and I'm sure I'll need new underwear after I get to the room. I love this man.

"Hey baby," I softly said. "I'm sorry you had to come out here," I pouted.

He used his thumb to lift my chin up so that my head tilted back. "Bella, I'll do anything for you," He smiled. "Anything," He leaned down to kiss me. Every time we kiss it's as if I just met him, I get the same butterflies in my stomach.

He pulled away from me but I can't just go this entire weekend alone with a peck. My arms wrapped around his neck to pull him back into me, he chuckled as my lips parted to intensify this kiss.

"Alright you nasties, we don't wanna see you make out," Tarzan's British accent made me laugh.

"Fuck off and let them kiss. Fi show dis dutty bwoy Wah gwan," Renee snapped at her man. He slapped her ass and gave her a look which made her laugh. "If you have time the bathroom is right there,"

"We unfortunately don't have anymore time," Reno looked serious responding to Renee, Tarzan nodded in agreement before looking at Dro.

"We've got to go," He repeated.

"I know," Dro sighed. "I love you Grace," He kisses my forehead and then walked away.
