《Hidden Riches》Chapter 28

"So, a waitress wants to hang out with you?" Violet asked, taking her popcorn from the microwave. "That's weird."
"Would you come with me, Violet? It'll be fun."
"Well... I don't really like to hang out with women like that. She could be crazy for all we know."
"Violet, she has a kid."
"That's how she became crazy!" She yelled at me, shoving a bag of chips in my face.
I took the chips from her hands. "I brought ice cream."
"Where?" She said, running to the fridge.
"In the back of the freezer." I said, ripping open the bag of chips.
"The back? Were you trying to hide it from me?"
"Last time you ate it all before the movie even started."
"Don't worry, Hannah. I learned my lesson. It gave me gas for days." She took the big tube of ice cream from the freezer and sat on the couch with me.
I loved Violet's house. It was so small and comfy. The house had smooth wooden floors, small windows covered with yellow curtains and violet colored couches. Photos of her and her family littered the walls. She had younger sisters who were twins and a puppy. I realized she didn't have a father figure in any of the photos.
"Violet?"
"Hm?"
"How come you don't have a Dad in any of those photos?"
"He left." She simply said and pried the cap from the Ice cream.
"Oh. Sorry." I said. Why in the hell did you ask that, Hannah?!
"What's there to be sorry about? He died two years ago."
"W-what happened to him?" Stop it, you idiot!
"I don't know. I just remember my mom telling me he was dead over the phone. She seemed pretty upset, but nothing too hysterical. We didn't attend his funeral either."
"Did you want to?" Ugh!
"I guess you could say that. Whether he loved me of not he was still my dad. You only get one of those, Hannah. When it's gone, it's gone... I also wanted to piss on his grave. Ha!"
Hearing her say that reminded me of Logan's parents. After all they did to him, why did they show up now? They must want something from him.
"Hannah? Hannah?"
"Huh?" I said, snapping from my thoughts.
"What movie are we going to watch?"
"I guess we could watch Jurassic World. It seems like a good movie."
She groaned. "You know, if Dinosaurs really did come back to life... I would be fine."
"What about me?"
"Dead." She laughed. "You wouldn't last a day, Hannah!"
Well, she's not wrong. I can't run for shit.
Once we finished bickering about the recreation of dinosaurs, we watched the movie and ate snacks.
In the middle of the movie, her phone began to buzz.
"It's Charles. Should I answer it?"
"He's your boyfriend, right?"
"No! That was just a fling."
"Then answer it. There's nothing to be embarrassed about."
"Hello?" She held the phone up to her ear. "What is it, Charles?"
I screamed out loud. A huge dinosaur had appeared on the screen and snatched up a human.
"What's going on? Is everything okay?" Charles yelled.
"We're fine, Charles. Hannah's just being a pussy. We're watching a movie." Violet sighed.

"Oh! Thank God. Anyway, I've got some shit to tell you guys."
"What is it?"
"I know the bitch who sent Jason and his goons to beat up Logan."
"Who?!" Violet and I yelled at her phone at the same time.
"It was Chloe! After practice I found her talking about it to Amanda. Amanda told her not to tell anyone and forget about releasing Jason's goons from jail."
"That bitch... how could she?" I growled, crushing the bag of chips in my hand.
"Thanks for letting us know, Charles." Violet sighed.
"Sure thing, babe. What are you gonna go?"
"Go to her mansion and force her confess to us."
"What?" I said, letting the bag of chips slip through my fingers. "We can't go there, Violet."
"Hell yeah we can. Don't you want revenge? We're going over there."
"I could pick you two up." Charles said. "I've always wanted to be apart of something like this."
"Right. Get your ass over here now, Charles."
"I'm on my way."
****
I watched as we drove down the dark street. The street lights were switched on, lighting up the sidewalks.
The farther down the street we went, the bigger and more elegant the houses became.
"Are you two sure you really want to do this?" Charles asked us for the tenth time. "You could get caught and-"
"Shut up, Charles." Violet said. "We're doing this regardless if you like it or not."
"Guys, I think we're here." I said, interrupting their conversation.
A huge white mansion stood before us. The mansion was at least 10 stories tall, covered in windows and a few of the walls were made a glass. The grass was nicely cut and a big golden fountain stood beautifully before the mansion. The fountain was a naked woman carved from marble, water spraying from her nipples. A big black gate surrounded the house. The gate had an opening for a vehicle to go through. But I could see there was camera there as well. We have to go through there to get in, but they would see us.
"Violet, we'll have to climb over the gate." I said. "Unlock the door, Charles."
"Are you crazy, Hannah? This gate is huge! We can't climb over this!"
"We'll just have to try."
"Listen up, Charles. If you see the guards or any pitbulls, call me immediately." Violet said.
"I will. Go get her, tiger!"
Violet and I jumped from the car and stood before the huge fence. "Alright gym class, work your magic on me." She sighed, then wrapped her hands around the metal bars and began to climb. "Thank God this isn't a electric fence." She climbed slowly, wrapped her legs around the bars and pulling herself upward.
Once she climbed over, she jumped down onto the ground.
I took in a breath and began to climb up the wall. I used her technique, then joined her on the ground.
"What now?" I asked Violet.
"We find a way to get inside."
"Let's go." We looked at eachother, then bolted across the lawn. We circled the fountain, making sure there was no one in sight.
"This way, Hannah." Violet said. "I remember the way I came in when I snuck in here before."

"You've snuck in here before?"
"Yep. Chloe stole Grace's math homework once. When Chloe went out to a party, I got it back, but she had already copied it. She won that round. But she won't win this one!" She seethed, then wrapped her arms around the huge white pillar. She climbed up and jumped onto concrete balcony. "Come on, hurry up." She said.
I quickly scooted up the pillar and joined her. Before us was a huge window. Inside it, we could see Chloe's entire room.
God damn. Her room is bigger than the school gym.
She was sitting on her giant pink bed, her legs crossed. She was furiously texting on her phone. She growled and threw it back onto the bed. "Fuck!"
"Stupid bitch," Violet growled. "What should we do now?"
"Let's jump her!" I said, bashing my fists together. "Let's rough her up good."
Violet smiled brightly. "That's a very unordinary way for you to think, Hannah."
"Hell yeah it is! She deserves to get her ass beat ten times!"
When I looked up to Chloe's bed, she was gone. The spot she sat on the bed was empty. Her door was left wide open.
"Fuck, where'd she go?"
"Do you think she heard us?"
"Heard you, not me. Let's go in before she gets back. Come on." Violet stood from her hiding place and peeled the balcony door open. "It's heavy." She grunted then walked straight in.
"Violet!" I whisper yelled. "Violet!"
"Get in here, dumbass. Stop being such a pussy."
I sighed, then crawled into the room. I placed my foot on the glass door of the balcony and pushed my foot to the left, closing the door. I got to my feet and bolted after Violet. "What do we do now?" I asked.
"Shut up, Heather!" We heard Chloe shriek down the hall.
"I can't believe you did that to Logan! Are you insane?! He could've died!" Heather yelled back.
"Yes! I am insane!"
"Fuck! We have to hide!" Violet said. "Under the bed! Now!"
"The bed?"
"Yes, the bed! Go go go!"
"The police will find you, Chloe! Sooner or later one of Jason's goons are gonna confess and you'll be in jail!"
"I don't care, Heather! Besides, Mom and Dad will bail me out whether they like it or not!"
"That's where you're wrong, Chloe! Mom and Dad have wanted to be noticed by the Pythons for years! They'll never forgive you for embarrassing them like this!"
"Shut up!" Chloe stomped into her room and slammed the door shut behind her. "Ugh!" She said, then dived onto her bed. The bed dipped down, squashing Violet and I below it. Violet let out a low grunt. She lay on her bed in silence for a few minutes. I could hear her typing on her phone.
I gave Violet a look, wondering if we should come out now.
She shook her head no.
"Chloe, you have a visitor!" I heard someone yell down the hall.
Chloe quickly stood from the bed. "Send him in!" She cheerfully said.
Him?
Chloe's bedroom door squeaked open. The first thing I saw was a big gray boot, as if the wearer had sprained their ankle. The other foot was wearing a regular shoe. The person walked in and closed the door behind them. "Chloe, why did you call me here?"
That voice... Logan?! What is he doing here?!
"I-I have something to tell you." Chloe said.
Is she going to confess to him herself? We didn't have to come here after all!
"Chloe-"
"Please, hear me out. You need to hear this."
"Tell me then. What did I have to come all this way for?"
"To be honest, I'm suprised you actually came." She sighed. "Let me hold you while I tell you this."
"That won't be necessary, Chloe. Just tell me what I need to know so I can leave." Logan snapped.
"It's about your girlfriend."
WHAT ABOUT ME?
"What about Bunny, Chloe?"
"She went on a date with Chase today."
What?! That wasn't a date!
"You're lying to me, Chloe. You always have! Of course you would now-"
"I know it sounds crazy, but I have a picture! Look!"
Logan sucked in a sharp breath. "But that's impossible... Bunny wouldn't do something like that..."
"When I saw them I was shocked too. I thought she was your girlfriend, not-"
Before she could finish, Logan quickly turned and bolted out the door. "Wait! Where are you going?" Chloe ran after him, leaving the door wide open again.
"I'm going to Chase's house!" Logan seethed. "I'm going to kick his ass!"
"Wait... that's not a very good idea! You're injured!"
"How could she..." I whispered. "How could she lie to him like that?"
"Come on, Hannah. We have to get to Chase before Logan does." Violet said and climbed out from under the bed. I lay there for another few seconds, then climbed out myself.
"One more thing before we go." Violet said.
"What?"
She strutted towards Chloe's bed and sat on it with a devilish grin on her face. She closed her eyes tight and let out a breath. "Alright ice cream, work your magic."
Then...she farted.
It was a gross one too. It was so loud, it could probably be heard from outside. The room immediately filled with the foul smell of rotten eggs.
"Gross!" I swiftly turned and pried the door open before the smell could eat me. I ran out onto the balcony for some fresh air. Violet came out after me and slammed the door shut behind her. "That'll keep the smell in for a while."
"Why did you do that?" I asked.
"Because she's a piece of shit. It only makes sense that she smells like one." She waved her hand back and forth over her behind. "We have to go Chase's house before Logan kills him." She jumped off the balcony and began to slide down the pillar. I slid down right after her, hugging the pillar.
Once our feet touched the grass, we bolted across the lawn once again. Charles looked our way and unlocked the car doors. We climbed over the fence again, then jumped into the car, slamming the door behind us. "Drive!" Violet said. "We've got a life to save!"
"Yes sir!" Charles said as he sped off into the night.
