《Hidden Riches》Chapter 47

"I can't believe it! Once we walk in there, everything will be real!" Violet said. "We have to pick the most beautiful wedding dress we can find for you, Hannah."
"We will not leave with anything less." I said. The limo slowly came to a stop. The chauffeur leaped out the limo and opened the doors for us. We stepped out of the limo.
Before us stood a tall, pink building that looked to be about twelve floors. In the center of the building in big bold letters read:
"Wow," We all said, our jaws dropping. "It's gorgeous."
"Let's go in," Violet said.
As we approached the doors, two giant men in suits slid open the doors for us. "Please come inside."
"Thank you," we said as we walked in.
As I looked around, it looked as if we walked into a giant ballroom. The walls were beautifully pink, the floors were marbled and multiple chandeliers hung from the ceiling.
"Follow us," the men said. We followed them as they walked behind a big pink curtain. On the other side of the curtain were dozens of women walking around with clients, helping them pick the perfect dress. The women were in dresses themselves, smiling brightly.
They immediately turned our way and smiled. We waved back.
"Layla!" One of the women yelled. "Your client is here!"
"Coming!" I heard someone nervously yell from behind another curtain. A woman swung the curtain open and slowly stumbled outside. "Here I am!"
Layla was a gorgeous brunette who looked to be the same height as me. Her hair went down to her shoulders, making her big blue eyes pop. She was in an elegant white lace dress covered in diamonds. She came toward us with her heels clicking on the marble.

"Hello everyone! M-My name is Layla. I'm the owner of this lovely place. It is very nice to meet you all. Which one of you is Hannah?"
"I am," I said, stepping forward.
Her face quickly lit up with happiness. She took my hand in hers and quickly shook it. "It's so nice to meet you, Hannah! I was specifically picked to be your guide by your fiance. I am very honored and very nervous!"
"Well... this is my first time picking out a wedding dress."
"That's why it has to be perfect! Shall we get started?"
"Please." I nodded.
"Follow me into this room back here." We followed her behind another pink curtain. On the other side was a giant room filled with wedding dresses. In the middle of the room were two big silver couches with a golden table between them. Two big bottles of wine and a few tall wine glasses sat on the table.
"Please, sit down." Layla said.
Grace, Violet, Beverly and I sat on one couch as Layla sat on the other.
"Would you like some wine?" Layla asked us.
"Yes please,"
"I'm pregnant." Grace said. "I can't have wine."
"We have some juice. Would you like some of that?" Layla asked as she poured us our wine.
"Yes, I would."
Layla stood from the couch. "I'll be right back." She disappeared behind another curtain. She came back a few minutes later and filled Grace's wine glass with juice.
"Alright. Hannah, I'm going to ask you a few questions about the dress you're hoping to wear during your wedding, okay?"
"Yeah," I nodded
"What color dress would you like to wear?"

"I want to go traditional."
"So, a white dress?"
"Yes."
"We have plenty of those here. Describe what you want it to look like for me."
I sat there and described my dream dress to her. Talking about it made me realize how much closer the day of our wedding was approaching. She nodded her head as I talked about the dress. She smiled at me and even laughed at me when I couldn't find the right words.
I thought of a beautiful, long, white, slim fit wedding dress. The dress would have an open back and long sleeves. The train was so long that it would drag across the floor. The dress would also be beautifully laced. This was the only dress I wanted. This is the dress that I've wanted for a long time. I wouldn't be changing my mind any time soon.
"Do you think you have a dress like that, Layla?"
"Of course we do! You can try it on right now!"
******
I looked at myself in the mirror. The dress fit exactly like I wanted it too. I looked so elegant. I wanted to call the woman in the mirror beautiful, but didn't want to sound weird.
I twirled in the dress. The long train followed me, making me giggle.
"Do you like it?" Layla asked.
"Yes! Yes! I love it!"
"Does it need any alterations or-"
"No, it fits like a glove. I'll take it."
"Really?! Thank you! Thank you!"
"No, thank you for giving me this experience Layla. I had a lot of fun."
"You're very welcome, Hannah. We'll get the dress ready for you to take home while you pick out the rest of your outfit."
"Thanks."
Grace, Violet, Beverly and I toured the rest of the store looking for the perfect heels.
Once we found them, Violet had an idea.
"Hannah, finding all this stuff for your wedding day is fun and all, but what about your wedding night?"
My face quickly turned the color of a tomato. "W-what about my wedding night?"
"You know what I mean."
"Violet-"
"I know. How about you leave this to me?"
"Leave what to you?!"
"Shhh, don't panic." She said, placing her fingers over my lips. "It'll be alright. How about we head home now? I'm tired."
Beverly loudly yawned behind us. "Yeah, I'm about to pass out."
We thanked Layla once more, then headed on home, taking my wedding dress with me.

Petrichor: Act One
Cody is adrift. Emily is alone. Sara is spiraling into darkness. Andrew is out of control. Chris is losing his mind. Grace makes the mistake of being friends with all of them. The friendship these six share will forever shape who they are. In the town of Darkwood, Washington they are forced into the harsh reality of the world catching up to them. When their involvement in their friend's suicide catches up to them, how will they juggle their guilt, issues, and crumbling friendships that fall before them? This is a redux of Petrichor. I was unsatisfied with how the story went. I rushed things and left things to happen off-screen a lot. So I'm rewriting it, this time dividing the acts into their separate books to allow the characters to properly develop. The story will mostly stay the same but I'll fix all the plot holes I found and change some character motivations here or there.
