《Hidden Riches》Chapter 49

The doorbell loudly rang. It must be The Wedding Planner. I ran down the stairs and through the living room, Logan walking behind me.

I swung the front door open to see a woman. The woman was very tall with shiny red hair falling down her shoulders. She was in a clean white top and a black pencil skirt. She wore black 5- inch heels on her feet, along with plenty of bracelets around her wrists.

"Hello!" She squealed. "I'm your wedding planner! It's very nice to meet you. You must be the bride!" she smiled and held her head out to me. I happily shook it.

"Yes, I am! My name is Hannah Sky. Soon to be Mrs. Python."

"Oh how wonderful! Do not worry, I'll make this transition so exciting for you. By the way, my name is Emerald."

"Nice to meet you, Emerald." Logan said behind me.

"Mr. Python!" Emerald said, her face growing slightly red. "It's so nice to meet after such a long time! You've gotten quite big!"

"Thank you, Emerald. We haven't talked in two decades so of course I have grown. But, I noticed that you have gone back to being a natural red head."

"Yes, I couldn't keep with the trends." She giggled.

If he has seen a wedding planner before, that must mean his parents were either getting remarried or they had split up. I assume to second choice.

"Please, come inside." I said, opening the door wider.

"Thank you, very, very much." she entered the house, her heels clicking against the ground. I quickly locked the door behind her and turned to Logan. "The living room?" I asked.

"Yes. Please join us in the living room, Emerald. It'll be a lot more comfortable in there."

"My pleasure," she smiled. She followed Logan and I into the giant living room. We sat onto the big comfy couch. Emerald began to pull out a few folders.

"While you set up, how about I get us some snacks?" Logan said, sitting up from the couch.

"That would be lovely." Emerald said.

"Yes, please." I smiled at him. Before he left the room, he gave me a quick kiss on the forehead.

I love it when he does this....

I watched as Emerald began to pull pictures from her folders. She set the pictures on the table, scattering them so we could get a perfect image of them all. I saw pictures of flowers, table/table clothes, chairs, sculptures, etc. Everything looked so gorgeous. I had no idea what we would choose.

Logan quickly came back with a platter of food and drinks. He set them at the end of the table. I immediately grabbed a cracker and popped it into my mouth. Delicious.

"Alright, let's get started. Now, I understand that you will not be having your wedding at a church. Why not?"

"Well..." Logan started. "My family isn't very heavy on religion."

"Neither is mine." I said. "We wouldn't want to get married in a place that we don't belong."

"I understand." Emerald said. "A lot of my clients feel the same way. But, when you have an outside wedding, mother nature will hug you and squeeze you tight, letting you know she approves. Unless it rains of course." she giggled. "Your wedding is going to be at your Grandfather's meadow, right Mr. Python?"

"Yes, it will be. My parents, aunts and uncles were married there as well. It has become tradition."

"Has your fiance seen this place yet?"

"No, she has not." Logan chuckled. "I plan on taking her there in a few days."

Yes, we had planned to see the meadow. I was so very excited. Logan told me it was one of the most beautiful places he had ever been. When he said that, my heart raced at the thought of seeing such a place.

"You will love it, my dear." Emerald said. "Sometimes I go to that beautiful meadow just to think and relax. It's a perfect place for yoga as well."

"Wait, will the reception be outside as well?" I asked, turning to Logan.

"Not necessarily. You'll see."

Why is he keeping secrets about this? I am the bride, I should know.

"Okay, I'll wait." That did nothing but boost my excitement.

"As you can see, I have plenty of items laid out here for you to choose from. I understand that you'll be letting her pick the majority, right Mr. Python?"

"Yes, that is correct."

"What?" I turned to Logan. "Logan, we're supposed to pick together."

"Honey, I'll be right here. If there's something you think I won't like, just ask. Besides, I'll be picking some things on my own as well."

"What things?"

"It's a surprise."

"Tell me."

"No. That wouldn't be a surprise."

I let out a sigh. "Do you know, Emerald?"

"Of course I know. I am the wedding planner after all." She winked.

We began to look at pictures. My heart dropped.

When I was child, I told myself that I didn't want my wedding to be too fancy. I was never into that kind of stuff. Now that I was staring at it, I couldn't believe it. My thoughts as I child flew out the window and into the sea of dreams. I had a new dream instead. I wanted my wedding to be the most perfect wedding ever because I was getting married to the most perfect man in the world.

The picture I selected was my final decision. I didn't want anything more or less than this.

"Is that what you want?" Logan asked.

"Yes, it is. Is it okay with you?"

"Yes, I love it." He reached down and kissed my cheek.

After that, we chose any extra items we might want. Logan discussed them with Emerald silently as I ate crackers and cheese. And then of course we would have a sculpture of a python. It was another family tradition of his. I was horribly terrified of snakes, but decided to go with it anyway.

After he and Emerald discussed a few more things quietly Emerald went on her way.

"Thank you very much for having me today. Your wedding will be absolutely perfect. Please put your trust in me."

"We already have." Logan and I said.

"Goodbye." we waved to her as she left out the door.

"I will call you about those surprises soon, Mr. Python!" She yelled from the bottom of the stairs.

"Thank you again, Emerald."

Emerald gave him another smile, then hopped into her limo and drove away into the darkness.

I closed the front door behind me and then jumped onto the couch. I lay there on my stomach and yawned.

"Tired already?" Logan said, beginning to rub my back.

"Yeah, I'm exhausted."

"What about dinner?"

"I'm full."

In the distance, a loud buzzing sound came from the kitchen.

"Did she call already?" I asked Logan with a smile.

"Bunny, that's your phone."

"Oh."

I jumped up from the couch and ran into the kitchen. He slowly followed behind. He had that look on his face. It was a look he often had when he would get too protective of me. I had began to fear that look. He always did something crazy when he looked like that.

I took my phone from the counter and looked at the caller ID. It was an unknown caller. The number looked slightly familiar to me, but I could not remember where it was from.

I decided to answer. "Hello?" I said in a low voice. "Who is this?"

On the other line was silence. My heart began to race.

"Who is this? Hello?" I repeated.

"Kitty..." the voice shook. "I'm coming to get you."

My heart came to stop and so did my breath.

I remembered that number for a reason. It had been engraved into my memory.

The man who had cheated on me, abused me and hated me wanted me back.

Peyton.
