This chapter will be very poetic and detailed cause I'm feeling vivid tonight/this morning at 2:30 am

Working on the restoration of The Restoration was tough work- tougher than expected even by your war torn and busy standards. Thankfully, you weren't trusted with the paperwork, and spent your days out in the field.
Them previously barren wastelands your ship flew over had returned to their luscious green, a view you missed even after being released from prison. Oh how times have changed.
A peaceful world that still let lay waste from the aftermath of your latest saga. That weary sky blazed blue with the hot sun in its peak above, gracing the land with warm feelings... of a newly tranquil home.
In your hands was the blueprint for a pop up food and shelter base, build from the shrapnel of metal virus leftovers and broken Eggman robots that were left behind in Eggman's fleeting escape.
It was half built, with mobians in the Restoration, and it's volunteers, to help the recovering population. Your friends that stayed would occasionally pop by, Tails and your retired father figure Gante. Everyone else?... Too busy or gone home...
Sonic was checking on the rest of the world, Amy overwhelmed with the paperwork, Tangle gone home to Windmill village, Whisper disappearing in her solitary, Silver back to his future, Team Chaotix returning to Sunset city to keep up their agency, and Rouge and Shadow, disappearing with Omega as they're mysterious tactics whisked them away.
You tried not to think about it, but you missed that chaotic life chasing an adventurous high even if the stakes were as bad as they just were. Cheerful and serious moments, memories that could last centuries.
But enough of this sappy wizard wisdom. You relied on those memories as a promise to keep on adventuring. Maybe find some new peers now that you were the sole member of a team in need.
By the time night fell, your food and shelter hut was complete. It was relatively make-shift but it could withstand most weather and was well stocked while homes were being re-built.
Restoration never fell quiet while people were still missing or other problems arose. You made sure not to tell anyone you were awake at night instead of getting your rest, and be put to even more work.
No, you needed this time. For you were studying. Using that super brain power of yours to find a way to get your team mojo back.
Your dynamic duo.
Olive.
Your evenings were spent in the rummaged library in Restoration's underground building. The books you took to your little study table related to all sorts of topics from Mobian history. The chaos emeralds. Sonic's adventures. Energy. How does Energy Work. All sorts of things.
For you heard of a tale once. You weren't sure if it was just some story written for kids. As it classically featured a kingdom and a princess in peril, a damsel in distress, a maiden in MMMMMMMmmmmuch danger. That was saved by your friend, Sonic the Hedgehog.
The power of the chaos emeralds.
Their power seemed infinite, but you knew from using them last time that that wasn't the case.
You could compare your personal experience to this story here. However, Restoration's volumes were very different from the ones you remembered from childhood. This one you had here and now? Well, it was told by a few accounts. There were a few notes from everyone. Silver and how he met Sonic. Amy's potential jealousy of the princess, named Elise.

How the chaos emeralds were used to revive Sonic.
Flipping through the pages with records dating back to that kingdom, Soleanna, you learned about the whole charade. The shadow impersonator of Mephiles the Dark, and Iblis the giant fire monster, eater of worlds practically, and how Sonic actually perished in his confrontation with Mephiles. Using the emeralds and the sorrowful wishes of his friends, Sonic miraculously came back.
You wanted to believe that was just it, but you knew deep down there was more to it than that. You weren't going to mention what the princess did for Sonic to come back, as you hoped that wasn't necessary for you.
You knew your key, was Sonic. But with all that's going on you were forced to wait around when he was busy out in the world helping. No rest for the weary, that Hedgehog.
When you completed your nightly research, you found your head resting on the table, eyes fluttering close as yout (hair length) hair brushed against the table, occasionally tickling your nose as if to say, 'hey, stay awake! (Y/n)!"
"...(y/n)... (Y/n). HEY!"
You shot up at the yelling, screaming almost unconsciously, "HEY! No yelling in the library!" Strained eyes tried to find the auditory intruder, but you couldn't find them even after they re-adjusted and you rubbed your (e/c) eyes a little. "Who?-"
"Man did they put you on librarian duty or something?"
That sarcasm-... that voice. ... !
"Sonic!? What are you doing here?" You scooted yout chair out to the side as Sonic walked out to appear on the other side of the table from behind some book shelves.
Instead of pulling out the chair on the other side of your table, Sonic went over to one of the special kiddy chairs that spun around, doing just that as he spoke, "Well, I gotta report to HQ somehow. Since you know I- kinda broke Tail's special wrist thingy."
The blue hero came to a stop as he admitted his defeat on that last part.
"That's fair." You nodded, and looked back down to the pages your hand (and head) previously rested on. Although tired and yawning, you looked to Sonic and back at yourself, your (f/c) starting to rise as you thought about asking, "We'll if you're not busy right now can I- actually talk to you?"
"Sure thing (Y/n), what's up?" Sonic continued to spin around in the chair, assuming this would be a normal conversation.
"It's about Olive."
That stopped him though, as the hedgehog understood you meant business when you mentioned her name. But this time, it wasn't sharing a heart-felt memory between the two of you with him.
Showly, Sonic stood back up and went to sit in the normal seat at the desk... "Alright, is something wrong?"
"Look here." You held out the book of Soleanna's history to Sonic. "Do you remember this? Did it actually happen?"
Sonic slipped his hand under the cover and took the book to read it up closer, sighing as the memories caught back up to him.
"Believe it or not, It did, but I like to pretend it didn't." The hero shuttered at the thought, happy to have saved the day, but not as much with how it got to that point. But those thoughts were gone as he immediately realized what you were trying to do.
"(Y/n). It's dangerous."
"Dangerous? Or unfair- Why not! We went super to stop the metal virus, and the three of you went super in this story too. You may have been revised because you were a hero." You started choking up, trying to hold back the tears as you were disappointed in Sonic not agreeing to it. Well, Olive is my hero. I need her like they needed YOU."

"You didn't let me finish." Sonic stood up and walked over to you "Hey, did you hear me say no?."
"No?-"
"Exactly. It's just dangerous." Sonic took a deep breath, and you knew you were about to get the full story, as the speedy boy begins to quickly elaborate: "You've proven you can certainly take care of yourself with that power, but it's still new to your body, and something like revivals can take a serious toll. I think the only reason I kept going after I came back was because Shadow and Silver shared the energy."
It was a lot to process, but in the end, he was right and his logic made sense. The central power, it may be too much...
You shook your head and put on a stern look, staring down the blue hedgehog with your no longer tear (e/c) eyes. "But I'm willing to try."
Sonic began tapping his food, its rhythm grew quicker and quicker before all you could hear was rapid tapping. "I can't stop you (Y/n) because I know how important this is, but I want to make sure you understand what might happen if things go wrong, or your power... isn't enough."
"I'd trade my life for Olive. I'd trade my life for anyone on the Restoration."
Sonic stood there in silence, rather concerned by your statement. "Those are courageous words (Y/n). I wont argue anymore."
"Let's get our friend back."
. . . . .
2 days passed since you and Sonic agreed to allow you to use the chaos emeralds... to bring back Olive from the dead. It had been 4 days in total since then, when Starline did the morally impossible.
Sonic managed to wrangle the emeralds back together before they would be separated throughout the world once again.
This event was serious, and summoned the many members of restoration to survey the revival. Sonic stood close by to guide you, remembering what happened moments before he woke back up. Amy, Knuckles, and Tails remembered, and also coached you with the process as they somewhat remembered.
The sky had grayed, a desolate rain scattered amongst resolute clouds above that held off as you stepped into a field clearing. The landscape was decorated in a painted sunset, dulled by the weather. But the wind still flew the blades of tall grass across.
It was right outside barricade village, the quietly abandoned town where it all happened. Small unrecovered pieces of the Endurance were scattered about as you walked through the clearing.
You were forced to leave the pieces behind, as a small carriage drawn by a yellow bird-like creature, a chocobo, that felt the pain in the atmosphere, but carried on as it's wild senses felt the disturbance of the chaos emeralds.
The procession stopped, and two familiar characters, one hedgehog and one black dragon dressed in black respectfully, unloaded the casket. It remained decorated with beautiful details and intricate engravings. But soon it's case would be abandoned.
Sonic walked up beside you, forcing you to turn around and finally look upon Olive's casket.
"It's time", he murmured. Then, the blue hero backed away to lay the emerald around you in a circle.
Your (f/c) began to stand on end in weary anticipation. This had to work.
Your friends stood around you as you held out your hands. A deep, cold breath filling your chest, that upon release warmed your frowning cheeks.
The vibrant colors of each emerald began to slowly pulse and spiral upwards, gaining speed and power as you, their host, channeled that energy into a fiery emotional moment.
The chaos emeralds spun around in a blurr, creating a rainbow until they clashed together. Streaks of light blinded all who could gaze upon it.
The surge of power entering your still recovering body electrocuted your synapse and your nervous system flared up into overdrive. Pain eased into power as gold began to corrupt your (f/c) fur. Your hair flew in the wind with no gravy, like a wisp. The air became refreshed by the energy, the rain smell dwindling in the background.
The empowerment was successful. When your vision cleared you looked upon glowing paws and radiating warm brightness.
Your gaze returned to Olive, the casket now face open, and you got to gaze upon your friend like this one more time. With the power vested in you, your hand slowly raised to face your palm towards Olive's body.
You could feel the power of the emeralds firing off towards its solemn target. The event cleared the air once again, blinding the space. You lost sight of Olive, and that brightness turned to black.
. . . . .
Raindrops were the source of your reawakening. The gentle pelting of the water slowed as the red of your chaos depleted eyes receded to your normal (e/c) eyes. They opened after adjusting to the faded blindness, many faces stared down at yours.
The first recognizable expression was imminent smiles. Sonic's emerald green eyes and electric blue fur. Knuckles angry red and amethyst purple eyes. Amy's rose pink aesthetic. The girl had her hands on your back to support you as you came back to your senses.
For as the blur of your pupils readjusted, you saw the ivory white and light salmon fur of a similar in the soft clutches of a bewildered black dragon.
Olive gently waved to you. You shared a kind smile to each other as your heart rate grew and grew at the sight of your lively friend.
...before you laid to rest.
. . . . .
It had been one day since the revival situation. You glazed to your friend, alive and well, but with your mind a'blur and the memory faded, you prayed that the moment wasn't a hopeful dream.
Those prayers were answered when you awoke, once again, in the familiar cabin of the Endurance with a pair of black gloves holding yours, the body it was attached to asleep at your side.
"O-olive?" you murmured as you tried to move. Your need for answers shot adrenaline straight through your entire body, triggering you to fire right up in your bed in shock.
Your best friend at your side woke up in a panic, shaking her head around, "WhoOA! WHERE'S THE DANGER!"
The collie girl was immediately grappled into a hug, her back hitting the floor as you leaped through the air. She coughed in surprise as the air was knocked out of her.
Tears filled your eyes as you felt Olive's silky fur between your fingers and her face pressed against the side of your in the rather super tight hug of reunion. You couldn't believe it, you just couldn't.
She was alive and well.
"(Y-y/n) could you please not kill me. I don't feel like drifting off into the dark abyss again." Olive managed to weakly squeak out while she remained strained by your hold. Out of desperation, she stuck her hands between your sides and initiated a tickle retreat.
"HEY!!! EY!" In a hasty retreat you fell back off of her and twitched at the uncomfortable feeling. In a guard, your arms attached themselves to your sides. "You know I hate that feeling."
There was a silence between you too. A silence that turned to laughed in an instant, the two of you realizing that this was real. The ticklish yet playful pain, the sound of each other's voices.
Olive leaned back, "Holy cow, you will not believe what's been going on. Do you remember when we were fighting Starline? And he shot that thing rod thingy at me, I must have passed out cause I woke up and you were glowing, but Gante was there next to me and said it had been a few days and then he pointed to you doing the yellow sparkly thing a-"
Before Olive could keep talking, you pulled her in for another hug. An arm over her shoulder as you embraced once again. You could feel Olive from behind wrap her arms around you once again.
"Oh. This is nice." Looking a little confused as to why you were so worried right now. Little did she know of all that happened.
You sighed and looked at Olive, "I just can't believe you're here."
"Here to stay. You can't get rid of me that easily." Your friend lightly laughed.
"As if I ever would." Now, you stood back up, helping Olive to her feet too as you headed out of the ship.
You stood on the back end of the SS Endurance, looking out into the restoration's hangar. The sunrise glew a brilliant hue of warm colors onto the ship, casting a rainbow prism.
The peace before you warmed your hearts. Olive was reunited with not just you, but with a world not wreaking of iron and rustic steel, corruption and decay. Instead, the familiar sense she always knew before the chaos, returned to her senses. The smell of fresh air, a nice morning brightened her turquoise eyes, and the feeling of people returning to their lives warmed her soul.
You placed your hand on her shoulder as you walked into life once again.
"There's a lot to catch you up on."
Two nights to write this, both at 2:30 am ahhaaaa. Hopefully my tiredness hasn't taken away from my writing skills. As of posting this, t-minus less than one month till I leave for college.
