Look, Lockhart might be a doofus and a show off with an IQ of a mountain troll at times but when he wants something, he sure as hell knows how to take it and does his planning REALLY well, you'll have to hand it to him. He's also really crafty and manipulative as well, those are his best talents and once he decides to have you, you can say goodbye to your freedom. Lockhart is driven by passion and determination when it comes to things. You could meet Lockhart in 2 ways: You could either be his number one fan, even more than Gladys Gudgeon and write letters to him everyday telling him how you really admire his work in a friendly and not so creepy way. You'll sign your name at the end of each letter with a catchy nickname that WILL catch his eye, nothing EVER escapes this man's gaze, it's like a freaking HAWK

You'd then be invited to the book signing event of Lockhart's at Flourish and Blotts where after you meet him you revealed yourself to him and he'll be really surprised but also happy someone really attractive and beautiful as you was his fan for so long, he really appreciates all the love and appreciation directed to him in your letters. After his book signing event was done, you both headed to the Leaky Cauldron for a couple of drinks or two, he's paying since it would be rude of him for someone as gentle as you to pay and you both exchanged contacts as well. True, Lockhart did have millions of fan around the Wizarding world but you caught his eye, there was something alluring about you that made him drawn to you for some reason. Or you could also meet him at Hogwarts as the replacement Care of Magical Creatures professor after Professor Kettleburn retired to spend more time with his remaining limbs and before Hagrid was appointed as the replacement. However you weren't really fond of Lockhart and you thought he was a bit much. You couldn't help but roll your eyes whenever you see him do something dramatic. Just the other day he sent all the professors his line of perfumes in the mail so they could 'smell better'. Snape just chucked it straight in the trash without even bothering to open it and as much as you found it rather entertaining and amusing, you needed to have a word with Lockhart about his antics since he was at the back of you constantly these days and it creeped you out

"Lockhart, we need to talk'' you said as you entered his office. "Y/N darling, I told you to call me Gilderoy, have you come to give me your feedback on those wonderful lilacs I've sent you?" he winked at you and you replied "Uhmm... no and please don't ever call me darling again. I'd like to talk to you about your... uh... doings around here'' and he flashed a toothy grin and replied "Ah, you've come to thank me for my guidance, never fear Y/N, I'm here for you'' and you replied "See, that's what I wanted to talk to you about. Things are already fine in my life, the first few times you've sent those lilacs were fine but now it's just getting creepy if I should be honest. And also please stop sending those miniature dwarves to me when I'm teaching a class, they're very distracting''. "Come on Y/N, you need to loosen up a little and have some fun'' smiled Lockhart but you regarded him with an unimpressed look and replied "No thank you, just... please stop hounding after me and that would be appreciated, thank you'' as you left abruptly. You've only caught his attention more and whatever you've said till now just went into one ear and right out the other. So, basically it was no better than talking with a brick wall

My point is, no matter how you meet him or where you meet him once you do catch his eye he WILL become obsessed with you very fast and quick especially if you aren't interested in his works and his books. It'll make the chase even more interesting according to him. He would love it if you complimented his outfit though and when he finds out your favorite color, he'll dress up in that color from head to toe just to impress you. He'll come up with short stories and cheesy love poems to impress you and if that doesn't work he'll just up his game. This man will NOT leave you alone AT ALL. Privacy? Never heard of it. He thinks since you're his number one fan and now the love of his life, there should be no secrets between the two of you which is why he may or may not have been adding Veritaserum into your daily tea when you have it with him so he can find out about your real self. He wants you to feel safe and secure around him and according to him, sharing secrets with each other is the first step to an emotional connection and bond for life with your life partner

If you have a diary to capture your thoughts you can bet your money that he's going to read it. Why? Because he's interested in knowing your thoughts and doesn't think there should be any boundaries between the two of you now that you both are really close with each other. The last thing he needs to do is confess to you in a really romantic and huge way that'll sweep you off your feet and take your breath away. If you accept him for Merlin knows whatever reason, he'll be really happy. Doesn't mean he won't be possessive and obsessive of you though and not to mention clingy as HELL. He gets jealous REALLY fast and even though he acts all confidence and smooth and slick outside, on the inside he's insecure of himself since he knows he hasn't really accomplished anything that great and he's just stolen other witches and wizard's stories and made them his own. The only best thing in life that happened so far was running into you and he can't afford to lose you

Believe it or not he gets really jealous when you talk to Dumbledore or anyone else who's not him. Especially Snape, because deep down he knows they're better than him in Occlumency and spells. He acts like a child when he's jealous, he'll come in between you and the other person you're chatting with and try to one up them like brag about all the great things he's done and the awards he's received and show off. Or he'll have a fake smile on his face and ask them very politely to get lost. After all, no one dares to disobey the wizard who received the Witch Weekly's best smile award for the 8th time in a row and who's fought banshees and vampires and yetis and whatnot. Then you'll have to assure him that you won't leave him and then he'll be satisfied, he won't be satisfied till then

I can actually see him kidnapping you because his jealousy will spiral out of control and you'll end up in a really fancy house with all the luxuries you can have. With Lockhart here as your husband, you'll be spoiled rotten and loved a lot. Oh, he does want to have a big fancy and extravagant wedding with you of course and have a family with you, he hopes his kids would be proud of their famous dad. You don't have to tire yourself out by working and straining yourself, just leave things to your loving husband. If you keep escaping he'll just find you since he has a lot of sources, being famous does have its benefits after all you know. He'll ask you why won't you love him after all he's done for you and if you EVER make the mistake of bringing up the fact that none of his books aren't his actual works and he just stole them from the other witches and wizards, his expression will turn from a goofy grin to a calculating expressionless look and honestly, once you've seen this side of him you're going to wish you've eaten your words up

He will have to obliviate you, there's no other choice in this. It's not that he wants to do this either, you've given him no choice. Once he does obliviate you, he'll still slip some Amortentia in your drinks and food so you can fall back in love with him. He's not being controlling, he's just taking care of you. If there's one thing he's learnt in all his life and during his travels, it's that life is hard and unforgiving. He doesn't want you going through such pains in life so he'll look after all. Everything would be so much easier if you'd just let him take of you without making too much of a fuss
