"Hey Y/N! good to see you" Ron said with a shy smile.
You were sitting in the kitchen talking to your best friend Ginny, who had invited you over to her house for Christmas. You were a bright Hufflepuff, but every time a (cute) boy would talk to you, you would get a flustered and red. You smiled at Ron "yeah g-good to see you too" you mumbled. You and Ron stared at each other for a couple of seconds and it looked like you two were the only ones in the world. You were quickly disturbed by a coughing Ginny and a chuckling miss Weasley. You got even more red and so did Ron. He coughed a bit himself and said "oh well then, I'll see you at dinner then" he smiled at you once more and walked away.
Ginny raised her eyebrows while she looked at you "Y/N is there anything you want to tell me?" Miss Weasley nodded, she didn't want you to feel awkward but she did also want to know if you and Ron had a thing. "No, why, what? No I don't think so" you mumbled. Ginny grabbed your shoulders "Y/N remember when we promised to tell each other everything" you nodded "then tell me what is going on with you and my brother" she said that trying to hide her smirk.
"Well there isn't much to say really, I sort of like him but I probably don't have a chance" Ginny smirked. "Why wouldn't you have a chance?"
You sighed "look at me, I'm two years younger! He's 18 and hot, I'm 16 and okay looking I guess but still I'm a Hufflepuff he's a Gryffindor why would he want to date me? We're to different"
Ginny furrowed her eyebrows for a second "Y/N most of that is rubbish you know, you are absolutely gorgeous, two years won't matter and Ron probably doesn't even care you're a Hufflepuff by the way he thinks Hufflepuffs are awesome, I don't agree on the part where you call him hot but that's probably because I'm his sister" you smiled at her. "Thanks Ginny"

Ginny sat next to you at the dining table, on the other side of you was Hermione, on the opposite side of you sat Fred, George sat beside him on his left side and Ron on his right side. Everybody was talking and laughing but you couldn't help but notice that Ron was quiet, he was staring at you most of the time. Especially when he thought that nobody noticed. But you did and so did Fred.
After a while Fred raised his eyebrows and smirked at his brother. "Well well well Ron, you've got something to say to Y/N?" Ron was flustered and started to stutter "n-no leave m-me alone Fred" everyone was looking and smirking. Ron turned a bright shade of red and looked at you with a apologetic look. He stood up from the table and walked away. After a while you excused yourself. You stood up and walked to ron's room. He was sitting on his bed with his head between his hands. "Hey Ron I was wondering if you're alright?"
Ron looked up "what do you think?" You smiled at him "I think you're ashamed but I don't understand why" you walked over and sat down next to him.
Ron chuckled "really? You don't understand why?" You shook your head. "Y/N it's obvious I like you a lot, my brothers are making fun of me because of it, because they know I don't have a chance" you raised your eyebrows.
"Who says you do not have a chance?" Ron turned his head to look at you and furrowed his eyebrows. You chuckled, it was very amusing to see him like this. "Does that mean..?" He said whilst still looking like a lost puppy. "Yes it does" his frown turned upside down. He smiled like an idiot as he kept staring at your beautiful face. You chuckled again before leaning in, Ron caught up with what you were doing, he also leant in. And within seconds your lips were touching.

He's not very good at it, but he's going to have to learn in a hurry or watch everything he knows get torn apart by massive spacefaring empires straight from the pages of a fantasy novel. ---------- Some readers have noted that the MC tends to be weak willed and pushed around a bit. A significant portion of the story is his character growth into not being a pushover (i.e. him being passive is in the early chapters on purpose). I'm just including this caveat/warning to make sure that readers aren't surprised/upset and that they stick with it until he learns to stand up for himself. His arc begins to crystallize around chapters 25-27. If that's too long to wait, I get it, I'm just trying to do my due diligence and warn you that the character development is a bit of a slow burn.
