Harry leaped out of Hagrid's arms and fell to the ground with an obvious thud. Voldemort and the rest of his followers shot their heads around quicker than the speed of light and let out cries of surprise at the boy's livelihood. The opposite side of students and dear friends of Harry cried out in happiness and started to retreat back into the Great Hall for another battle. While Harry dodged curses sent by Voldemort and disappeared into the corridors, Sophia yanked Fred's hand and led him back into the Great Hall hurriedly.
Fred and Sophia wordlessly decided to stay close to George, Remus and Tonks' bodies in order to protect them from being trampled in the midst. It was a form of respect and a final attempt to keep them alive in their hearts and peaceful during their passing. With the three lined behind them, unaware of their bravery, Sophia and Fred brought out their wands and fought against anyone who dare come near them and their family.
Sophia performed her best protection charms while Fred took advantage of his hex-specialised wand. He was turning Death Eaters into ferrets, plants, mice, anything you could think of. He momentarily pushed down the urge to sob and continue grieving over his twin and focused on protecting the last thing he ultimately cared for.
"Protego!" Sophia cried as she leaned in front of Fred and blocked the curse that was hurtling towards him. Fred returned the favour by sending a Stunning curse to the man who tried sneaking unsuspected behind Sophia. No thank you's were exchanged as they knew their reactions were from the pure instinct of protecting each other.
"How touching," the tone of mocking flowed from Bellatrix Lestrange as she walked towards the two. She had appeared in the hall moments before and had spotted the people she had been searching for since the start of the battle. The woman grinned and swished her wand back and forth in front of her as her heeled boots clacked against the tiled floor.
"Good thing you're together now. It'll make this so much more satisfying," she cackled. Sophia stepped back with rising fear and bumped into Fred's chest, who went to grab her shoulders and push her behind him. But he barely got the chance as Bellatrix shot a spell towards the two and occupied him with casting the protection charm in front of them.
"Cute! Really cute!" Bellatrix cheered and menacingly smirked at Sophia in particular. "Thank you for the tip off of the ambush in Diagon Alley by the way. Didn't have any trouble, so we destroyed your weasel shop instead. Nasty eyesore that was."
Fred's jaw clenched at the mention of the shop and felt anger surge inside of him. Not only was it for the shop, but it was for George as well. Merlin knows that it was probably her that killed him. He could picture her spotting him by his painfully identical face and cast her curse without even letting him turn to face her. She probably even laughed and did a little dance around his body, singing about how she killed a Weasley twin in mere seconds.

Sending yellow sparks towards her, Bellatrix didn't hesitate to engage in a duel with a crazed laugh. Sophia took it upon herself to keep a constant protection charm around her and Fred, putting the woman at a disadvantage. Bellatrix didn't like this and for a moment, lost her crazy and joking façade. Seeing her spells and lethal curses bounce off the field while Fred stood unharmed behind Sophia with a hope in actually winning the duel made her fume.
"Confringo Maxima!" the woman screamed and the barrier around the two shattered like glass. Sophia was astonished and stood there with wide eyes, barely having time to stop the next curse leaving Bellatrix's lips. "Stupefy!"
Fred flew backwards and collided with the hall's wall with a loud thud, dropping to the floor in frozen state. Sophia gulped at the sight and turned around, now facing Bellatrix completely solo. The woman seemed ecstatic at this and wasted no time in dragging her into a duel. Sophia forced her wand to perform strong curses and hexes as Bellatrix mercilessly sent the most lethal of spells hurting towards her.
"I'm sure your daddy's waiting for you. Your filthy-" she shot a curse. "-dog-" and another. "of a father!"
The last spell shot Sophia skidding across the floor and stopped inches from the same wall Fred had collided with. Sophia groaned and forced herself to sit up, seeing Bellatrix stalking towards her like a tiger would towards its prey. Fred was able to sit up against the wall as the effects of the Stunning spell had begun to wear off, and looked over at the ordeal with a sinking heart. Bellatrix stopped inches in front of Sophia and stared down at her, the grin reaching her eyes as she twiddled her wand between her fingers.
"Oh the joys of decisions," she pondered, eyes flickering over to Fred who sat helplessly with his legs still numb and useless from the spell. "What would be the most evil? Killing you first... or him?"
Fred wanted nothing more than to drag himself across the floor and hold Sophia in their last moments. There was no way they'd both be able to get out of this alive. Bellatrix was too powerful and sneaky for that. But Fred will be damned if he has to have the most important thing in his life taken from him like George was. He could see Sophia's chest heaving as the tip of Bellatrix's wand pointed at her, and his heart broke when he watched her turn her head to meet his gaze with longing eyes.
"Do you want a few moments?" Bellatrix mocked while giggling. "It'll only be a few minutes in between. You'll meet each other again, I'm sure. Where you'll also meet filthy mutt Father and your blood traitor brother."
Sophia thought she would fear her last moments before death. But the acceptance settled in almost immediately. She thought she would beg for her life or feel her survival instincts quick in for one last chance at life. But there was only the longing for silence and peace that she heard awaited in the afterlife. She couldn't remember the last time she had relaxed completely, as she always feared for her life and for those around her. Her second year at Hogwarts was the last time she had felt like a normal teenager. Thinking back to that year, she remembered the start of her relationship with Fred. But even that didn't seem to change her mind.

She felt ready to die.
"Nothing? Alright then," Bellatrix shrugged when Sophia stayed silent. "Nighty night Lupin!"
Fred watched in horror as Bellatrix began to cry the killing curse and he even forced his legs to do their job and sprint towards her. He was in arms reach when the Death Eater suddenly flinched and stumbled backwards, looking up in astonishment with her crazed dark eyes. Fred momentarily thought he had developed wand-less magic and willed Bellatrix away from Sophia, but the face of his Mother appeared beside him obliterated that idea. Only his mother didn't look as warm and motherly as he always saw her. Her lips were pinched together in anger and her eyes were filled with fury. Her wand pointed at Bellatrix who was looking at Molly with surprise mixed with offense.
"Not my daughter you bitch!" Molly hissed.
Bellatrix dropped her look of surprise and cackled through her fizzy strands of hair. But Molly was in no mood for a laugh and she shot another spell towards her, causing her opponent to swipe her wand in front of herself. Molly continued to shoot various colours out of her wand and Bellatrix didn't have any time to utter anything other than a word-less protective charm. The woman stepped backwards from the sheer force of Molly's spells and was losing her duel.
With one final curse, Molly broke through Bellatrix's field and the woman froze with her arm in the air. She gasped in her last breath as her torso began to collapse, her skin graying and cracking like stone. And as if she was statue, Molly shot a simple Exploding charm and destroyed Bellatrix into dust.
Reality kicked Sophia in the stomach as she watched the ashes fall to the ground. The painful memories of Lestrange sunk into the small flakes of black and encased themselves, leaving Sophia's mind finally at peace. The very name of the Death Eater used to spark fear and dread inside of her. But the sight of Molly destroying the woman into ashes, made her feel wholesome and relieved. She never thought someone's death would bring her such joy. But from what she had put Sophia through, the woman deserved everything she had gotten.
"Shit Mum," Fred stated and Molly turned, her expression still full of fury. She looked down to Sophia and prided herself with what she had just done.
"T-Thanks Molly," Sophia stuttered, her eyes still wide in astonishment from the woman's severity.
"Thanks Mum," Molly corrected before she engaged herself with yet another duel.
Fred helped Sophia to her feet and went to go on fighting, when a voice chimed through the Great Hall. Everyone stopped and looked to see Voldemort himself standing with his eyes trained solely on Harry, who stood a wide distance from him. People parted like scurrying mice in order to stay out of the fire that was brewing between the two. A circle formed around them as they stared at each other, wands itching to be used in their hands.
"No one shall interfere," Voldemort announced without looking away from the boy. "Only I shall walk free from here. Only I can live forever."
Sophia watched as the two simultaneously lifted their wands and cast the killing curse as well as the disarming charm. The green light and shot of red collided in the middle of the hall with sparks flying in all directions. Harry clenched his two hands around the handle of his wand while Voldemort tried to appear as if it was an ease to battle his lifelong enemy. He only held his wand, the Elder wand, in one hand as he clenched his teeth in anger and frustration.
For a moment, the green enclosed over the red and began to inch its way towards Harry. Sophia clenched Fred's hand in hers as Harry could be seen physically willing his wand to fight back. But then the green melted under the red's ferocity and started to shrink back towards Voldemort's wand.
"He's gonna do it... he's actually gonna do it..." Fred mumbled and Sophia held her breath, not believing her eyes. The green had now completely disappeared and Voldemort was void of all smugness and triumph. This was the second time in his life that he was losing a battle, and they were both to some boy who should have died during their first encounter.
Harry's spell flowed into Voldemort's wand and it sparked in his hand, making it fly into the air and clatter to the tiled floor of the hall. The room was dead silent as the man swayed in his stance, before finally falling to his knees and laying flat against the floor.
No one cheered and no one blessed the day of The Dark Lord's death. But everyone in the hall and even across the grounds of Hogwarts felt the evil disappear into the air. His followers sensed their master's fall and stood down immediately, dropping their wands to the floor and bowing their heads into defeat. The Aurors conjured specialised handcuffs and locked them around their wrists, sending them into the Entrance Hall where they will be led to Azkaban.
"It's done..." Sophia breathed. "It's really over..."
She turned to Fred as the people around them started to move off to find their friends and family. He did the same and wrapped his arms around her middle, pulling her flush against him. They didn't smile or say how grateful they were to be alive, but allowed themselves to indulge in each other's company. Sophia curved into Fred's lanky frame and willed her mind to go blank. She had a lot to think about now that the war was over. Her father. George. Her sudden loss of will to live. The main battle was over, but a new one had just begun.
