《Junoesque ✿George Weasley✿》12.

The day came for the first task of the Triwizard tournament. The whole castle was practically humming in anticipation while the four champions could be seen as pale as ghosts and ready to pass out. Harry was by far the worst.
The boy had most of the school against him and the only people who seemed to be giving him advice was Hermione and Professor Moody. The Professor had taken a strange liking to Harry and decided to be his mentor during the tournament. Professor Dumbledore could sometimes be seen with Cedric, while Viktor Krum and Fleur Delacour had their Headmaster/mistress constantly in their ear.
Blair made her way out of the castle and towards the Quidditch stadium where the first task would be taking place. She had sat down for breakfast at the Gryffindor table only to have Ginny appear and ask if she wanted to go down to the stadium together. Blair was surprised at the request but agreed. She liked Ginny and now counted her as a good friend. She had briefly talked to Hermione as well, but the girl was occupied with helping Harry, so Ginny was the one Blair would mostly find herself talking to.
"He's taking it hard," Ginny stated as they walked the school grounds. "Hermione's been constantly taking him to the library as well as McGonagall's classroom. Something about teaching him advanced spells so he'd at least have a chance."
"I can't imagine how he'd be feeling right now," Blair mumbled. Ginny was about to reply when they heard the voices of Fred and George yelling from nearby.
"Will Miss Delacour have her ponytail singed?"
"Will Krum's big head get in the way of his spell work?"
"Place your bets and make some galleons!"
"Should have guessed they'd take advantage of this," Blair held back a smile at the sight the two giving out slips to those who'd bet on their chosen champion.
"Speaking of them-" Ginny started and turned to Blair with a knowing look. "-I heard that you and George were seen in Hogsmeade together. Care to explain?"
Blair blinked and looked down to her gloved hands. Their day at Hogsmeade seemed to have changed the way she and George viewed each other. They hadn't held holding hands again but Blair had to admit that she loved being in his company. And he hadn't mentioned the sweet peck she gave him on the cheek, but had started to send her flirtatious winks in the corridors and across the table in the Great Hall. She was sure that he was trying to remind her of the kiss and was always open for another.
"I never got my permission slip signed so he showed me a secret tunnel," she started. "He took me to Honeydukes and Gladrags too."
"And?" Ginny drew out the word and Blair forced down the warmth that fought its way up to her face.
"What?"
"Hermione said she saw you two getting cozy in The Three Broomsticks as well," Ginny raised her eyebrows and displayed the classic Weasley grin. "Something about you two having one of your hands glued to each others?"
"Um yeah..." Blair trailed off. "Oh look, there's Hermione!"
Ginny rolled her eyes and looked up to see that they had entered into the stadium and saw Hermione waving from the stands. Ron could be seen standing next to her in a foul mood at being at the first task to watch his once best friend compete. Dean and Seamus were next to him chatting avidly about rooting for Cedric. The Hufflepuff was definitely the favourite for Hogwarts regardless of the fact that Harry was a Gryffindor.

"How's he doing?" Ginny asked once they arrived next to Hermione.
"Nervous of course," Hermione huffed with her eyes switching from the middle of the stadium and up to Ginny. "That awful Prophet writer Rita Skeeter's been going for him nonstop! I don't know how she's even allowed into the school grounds!"
While the two talked, Blair noticed that where the green pitch usually sat for Quidditch games, was a rocky landscape. It had been charmed to look like a rocky mountain surface and made Blair wonder what could possibly be the first challenge. She looked over the stands and saw the Beauxbatons gathered on the left side while the Durmstangs were on the right, leaving the Hogwarts students to sit in the middle. She mostly saw banners for Cedric and yellow scarfs and face paint in order to represent Hufflepuff. It made her feel bad for Harry as he must be feeling lonesome during this tough time.
"Wanna bet anything, Rosier?" Fred appeared next to her with a suitcase open in front of him.
"Oh um, no thanks," she muttered and Fred clicked his tongue while narrowing his eyes at her.
"Why? Is it because I'm not George? Would you bet if he asked you?" he questioned and Blair's eyes widened.
"N-No. I just don't like gambling," she defended and Fred broke out into a grin.
"I'm just messing with you," he laughed and put a hand on her shoulder. "I know you're too innocent to do such things. But I do know that you and my brother are getting closer than anyone anticipated."
"I-I..." she stuttered and he basically rolled in her embarrassment.
"Don't worry, Rosier," Fred said and winked at her. "You can hold hands around me. I know you've been itching to snog again too."
And with that, Fred moved on down the stand and returned to calling out betting options with his suitcase in hand. Blair gulped and turned back to look down at the centre of the stadium, now not even acknowledging the fact that the rocks looked sharp enough to impale someone. If Fred hadn't come along, she would have been worrying more for Harry as the rocks looked like a challenge in themselves.
She suspected that Fred and George were extremely close and told each other everything. Now she knew that George had told Fred about their day; right down to the kiss she had given him on his cheek. And even though she was sure George told him that it was only a peck on the cheek, she knew that Fred wasn't the best at keeping his mouth shut. It wouldn't be long before the whole school knew that her and George had apparently snogged at Hogsmeade.
"Hey Blair."
Being brought out of her thoughts once again, she looked up to see the very boy was thinking about standing next to her. He was identical to his brother right down to the smile he wore on his face. He wore a knitted hat on top of his orange locks and wore a long coat over his sweater that was bound to be the same as Fred's. The only difference was that when she turned to look at him, she felt a buzzing feeling in her stomach that she didn't feel when seeing his brother.
"Hey George," she greeted back and beamed up at him.
"I hear you're not betting," he said.

"Word travels fast, huh?" she joked.
"Yeah, Fred told me."
"Welcome to the first task of the Triwizard tournament!", Professor Dumbledore's voiced boomed through the stadium and cheers came from all sides of the stands.
"It's starting!" George cheered and shut the suitcase in his hands, putting it down by his feet and shuffling into the space next to Blair. Fred appeared next to him and did the same, the two leaning forward over the barrier in attempts to see any of the champions.
"Our four champions are now preparing for their challenges as I speak," Dumbledore announced. "Their task is to retrieve a golden egg, to which holds a hint for the next task in the tournament. The egg, however, is being guarded by a mother dragon. These dragons have been transported from Romania for the task and are currently in their instinct to attack anyone who attempts to steal their young!"
"That has to mean Charlie's here!" Fred cried to his brother.
"Durmstrang champion Viktor Krum-" a loud cheer came from the right side of the arena. "-was chosen first by the Goblet of Fire. Therefore, he shall perform first!"
The stadium went silent as Professor Dumbledore pulled his wand away from his neck and a group of witches and wizards appeared through the entrance. They all held chains and were collectively pulling something, wands at the ready for precaution. Suddenly, the head of huge red dragon roared as it appeared and pulled at its restraints. Cries of shock and fear came from the stands at the sight of the creature.
"Brilliant!" George exclaimed and grabbed the binoculars that hung around Fred's neck. "Charlie's there too!"
"Harry's gonna have to fight that?!" Ron could be heard and Hermione glared at him considering how much he hadn't cared about his best friend until now.
The dragon was eventually chained to the ground and Viktor was sent out to retrieve the egg. It sat among the dragon's real eggs and Viktor jumped straight into his task. He was able to blind the creature by casting a Conjunctivitis curse, causing the dragon and wail and breathe it's fire randomly in hopes of burning Krum to crisp. The Durmstrang students cheered loudly for their champion and yelled out words in Bulgarian that no one else could understand. Igor Karkaroff, their Headmaster, was also cheering and didn't hide his favouritism for the boy.
Eventually, Viktor retrieved his egg and finished his task. But he had a large amount of points taken off of him because of the curse he put on the dragon made the creature so confused and disorientated, that she crushed her real eggs. The group of dragon tamers came back into the arena and unchained the wailing dragon, pulling it blindly out of the arena so the next one can be brought in for Fleur Delacour.
"That poor thing..." Blair mumbled and George turned his attention to her curiously. "It killed its own would-be children for this..."
"I guess you're right," George shrugged and felt his heart tug at the deep frown on Blair's face. "But they'll make sure she'll be taken care of and maybe have some more eggs. I'll even talk to Charlie about it, if you want me to."
"Really? You'd do that?" she turned to him with her lips parted. George nodded and looked down to Blair's hand that lay limply by her side. He reached out and laced his fingers with hers.
"Sure. We'll go find him afterwards."
Blair felt giddy and even dared to lean against George's arm, letting her head fall against his shoulder. Most people around them were too occupied by the green dragon that was now being brought in to notice Blair and George's moment of intimacy. But Fred noticed the lack of his brother's excitement at the sight of another dragon and turned his head to see the bright smile on George's face and the content look on Blair's. He shut his mouth on the thought to not ruin the second of closeness and looked to Ginny who also had noticed the moment. The siblings locked eyes and shot each other smug stares before turning back to the dragon that was now being put to sleep by Fleur Delacour.
Much to Fred and George's joy, Fleur did indeed have her robes and ponytail singed by the dragon's fire-filled snore. She had successfully been able to put the dragon to sleep by a complicated incantation and retrieved her egg, only to step in front of the dragon's nostrils when it decided to huff some of its flames. Blair had to admit that it was quite amusing to watch the stuck-up girl hop around while trying to put out her robes, using the Agumenti spell to spurt a jet stream of water.
"Are you laughing at Delacour getting burnt, Blair?" George gasped with his free hand over his heart. "That's so delightfully evil!"
"I can't help it. She wouldn't shut up when I used to sit at the Ravenclaw table," Blair put her hand to her lips and couldn't stop the giggle that slipped out. Even though it was short, it was music to George's ears and he grinned down at her and squeezed their still entwined hands.
Cedric Diggory's turn soon came around. The dragon he had to fight was yellow and was chained to the floor just like the others. He came out from the champions' tent and transfigured one of the rocks around him to a golden Labrador. The dog shook at the sight of the huge creature and ran around the stadium, taking the attention from Cedric and allowing him to inch towards the nest of eggs.
Unfortunately, the crowd cheered loudly when Cedric grabbed his golden egg and the dragon whipped around for the sudden noise. The dog was now long forgotten and the dragon saw Cedric was practically stealing its child. A river of flames shot from the dragon's mouth and the crowd watched in horror as Cedric flew backwards and clutched at the left side of his face, quivering and shaking in pain.
Blair instinctively hid her face away from the scene and found her nose being buried into George's coat-covered arm. She could hear the dragon tamers grabbing hold of the dragon's chain and pulling it back out the stadium, leaving Cedric to be taken straight to Madam Pomfrey for his severe burns. George barely noticed these happenings because of Blair's sudden moves and had half a mind to press his lips against the top of her head, but refrained once Dumbledore spoke once more.
"And now for our final champion; Harry Potter!"
