The broom froze inches from hitting the thin grass that would feel solid if they were to continue. Blair held her breath as her spell held her and Charlie in the air, before they dropped with soft thuds. The broom was discarded as Charlie rolled on to his back and laid there silently, the spell that he had been hit with lingering and keeping him in a deep sleep. Blair groaned as she sat up and looked around, seeing nothing but long grass and the clouded night sky above. She didn't know if the rest of the Order were still flying or not, but she would need to get back to The Burrow as soon as possible. Whoever had attacked Charlie had meant for them to fall out of the sky and were bound to be looking for them. To make matters worse, Blair noticed her vision was blurry and her hair had grown back to its long length. The Polyjuice Potion had worn off and she looked like herself again.
"Charlie?" she called out and crawled across the grass, throwing the round glasses away. Blair took hold of his shoulders and shook him lightly, calling out his name and praying that he'd wake from the enchantment. His ginger head rolled on to his shoulder and Blair sighed, sussing that he must have been put under a powerful sleeping charm.
Looking up to the sky, Blair watched as the clouds parted for a familiar puff of black smoke that was heading for a place only metres from her. She gulped and stood up, keeping her wand tightly in her hand as she stepped in front of Charlie's sleeping figure. The smoke hit the field and sunk into the ground, leaving a figure dressed in black staring back at her in it's wake. She had been anxious before, but this was a new kind of anxiety and fear. The way the unknown Death Eater stared at her made her uneasy and even cause her wand to shake in her hand. The sleeves of the blue jacket that belonged to Harry hung over her fingers and she was glad they covered her goose-bumps that she could feel taking over her arms.
"Aren't I the lucky one!" he cheered. He was a bald man who had wide eyes that stared at Blair with a crazed glaze in his bright blue irises. "I took down a Rosier! Your father would be most upset to hear you had been bettered by someone like me!"
Blairbit her lip and noticed how much the man swayed in his step. As if the man wasdrunk or had injuries in his legs, he was unstable on his feet andgrinned widely at her through the dark. She kept her wand high and was thinkingof jinxes that would stun him long enough for her to grab Charlie and apparateto The Burrow. She hadn't had to face a Death Eater by herself before andCharlie didn't seem like he'd jump up to save the day any time soon. Until now,she had at least one of the twins with her or members of the Order. She was confident inher spell work, but she doubted her ability to keep her calm when duelling. Shedidn't recognise this Death Eater and had no idea what he was capable of.

"Well come on then! Aren't you going to get your wand out?" Blair tried to sound strong and successfully didn't stutter. But her tone sounded urgent and gave away her panic at being faced with the man she didn't recognise.
"Why should I? I don't need to fight you," the man laughed, still swaying and grinning. Blair was now confused and even more terrified. The Death Eater eyed her and looked amused at her unease, but didn't seem like he was going to duel her. He didn't look like he even had a wand on him.
"T-Thenwhy are you here?"
The man giggled and looked up to the sky where the stars usually sat. Blair dared to follow his gaze and saw there was nothing of interest up there. She had concluded that he was barmy and didn't have any logic to the things he did. But she knew he was dangerous as he had blown her and Charlie out of the sky. Then Blair considered that this could all be an act. Maybe he was waiting for his friends to get here so they could kill her and Charlie together. Maybe this man was a sophisticated and talented dark wizard; but was an extremely convincing conman.
"I'm here to fill you in about your father," he announced with his arms out wide. The volume of his voice made Blair jump and step back, knocking the heel of Harry's shoe against Charlie's leg. A faint groan was heard and Blair hoped that it meant that he was due to wake up from the enchantment soon.
"I know who my father was. You still can't convince me no matter what you say about him," she retorted and the man rolled his eyes.
"You know nothing about your father. Evan Rosier was a brilliant wizard who was bettered by a batty madman."
Blair resisted the urge to scoff at the word 'madman' leaving the Death Eater's mouth. Anyone could see that this man's act was the perfect example of someone who had lost a few screws in his life. But considering the fact that he was describing Mad-Eye Moody, she supposed that the word wasn't so out of place when relating to the Ex-Auror.
"Ever wondered where you got your potioneering skills? Ever wondered why your potions always came out so magnificent and advanced? Your father was the best of the best when he was alive. And he was working on something revolutionary once you were born to that blood traitor. Too bad he died when he did, otherwise the Dark Lord would have conquered the Wizarding world and destroyed Potter for good," the man spoke as if he was reciting a speech he had prepared months before. The way he talked about You Know Who made her uncomfortable yet the mention of her mother, the said blood traitor, made her yearn for more.
Blair's mother had always been a mystery and she assumed that no one besides You Know Who's followers knew who she was. Blair was only ever known as 'Rosier's daughter', making her assume that her mother wasn't important or significant enough to be mentioned. She had never known the name of her birth mother, but the mentioning sparked her interest.
"Who was my mother?"

"Jesse Yaxley. As boring as cardboard, I'd say," he rolled his eyes. "But she was pure. Fortunately, most of Evan's genes overpowered hers. He'd hoped that when you were born, he'd be able to hand over his protégé to you when he was found out by the Ministry."
The name of her mother made a part of her brain click into place. She was sure she had heard the name Yaxley before, but it was mostly from the wanted posted that were stapled around Diagon Alley. Corban Yaxley was a known Death Eater and had been one of the Dark Lord's followers who answered the call when he returned. If Blair was thinking correctly, then he was her uncle. Her only living relative that she knew of was a wanted dark wizard who was currently serving under You Know Who. But then again, was Blair expecting any better?
"Whatever Evan was working on before his death was important. His potions were the key to taking over the Wizarding world. If we were to find what he was working on, then we could-"
"BLAIR! CHARLIE! ARE YOU ALRIGHT?!"
In the distance, three figures appeared over the curve of the field and created paths in the tall grass. From the voice that had somehow travelled over the large distance, Blair could tell that it was Arthur and two other members of the Order of the Phoenix. From the voice, the Death Eater glanced towards the running figures and sighed loudly. He hadn't anticipated the interruption and had much more to say, but he would have to postpone it for now.
"What a bother," he swayed and turned around, hobbling back towards the circle that his black smoke had cleared in the grass. "I guess we'll have to finish this in another meeting."
"W-Wait! What about-" Blair was cut off as the Death Eater shot up towards the sky in the signature black smoke. It disappeared through the clouds and Blair couldn't believe that she actually deflated at having the man leave her standing in the field; unanswered and as curious as ever.
"Blair! Are you alright?! What happened?! We saw your broom fall and everything!"
Arthur Weasley stopped next to her and checked over her for injuries, forcing her attention away from the sky and leaving the clouds to conceal the parting the smoke had made. She saw that Arthur had brought along Bill and Remus. As if he sensed their presence, Charlie finally stirred awake and grumbled incoherence. Bill helped his brother up from the grass and steadied up, the man looking towards Blair and suddenly realising what had happened after he passed out.
"Oh Merlin! Did we crash?! Are you okay, Blair?!" he stumbled away from Bill and stopped in front of her, putting his hands on her shoulders. His eyes were wide and he raked over Blair's baggy clothes that once fitted her perfectly when disguised as Harry.
"I'm fine, Charlie," she forced a smile, glancing towards Arthur to ensure he was also convinced. Physically, she was fine. But her mind was rushing from the new information about her parents. She suspected that they hadn't seen the departure of the nameless man and she chose to leave it that way to avoid pestering and constant questioning.
"Where are we, anyway?" Blair took the subject off of her for a moment and glanced around at the dark field surrounding them.
"Just outside the barrier of The Burrow," Remus answered. "You two were the only ones who hadn't made it back. We were worried and just so happened to look out the window and see something falling from the sky."
"It was insane. There were three on us from the very start," Charlie sighed and put his hand to his head, feeling an ache begin to form under his skin.
"We were no better," Bill replied. "Let's head back. It's stupid to stay outside the barrier for any longer."
Remus and Bill helped Charlie through the field back towards The Burrow. Blair reached down to grab Charlie's broom and straightened up to see Arthur watching her closely. She raised her eyebrows and thought that maybe he had seen the smoke in the sky before they reached her. He looked worried and ready to say something, only something was holding him back.
"What's wrong, Mr Weasley?"
"It's George," he started, his tone strained. "You're going to want to see him."
---
"Oh Georgie..."
Blair's tense shoulders sunk when she walked into the living room of The Burrow and saw her boyfriend lying across the sofa. He was half conscious when she walked in but was forcing his eyes open to give her a tired smile. His left ear was completely gone, leaving a hole that was leaking with red stickiness. His neck, shoulder and left hand were also covered in the substance, the clothes that belonged to Harry now too short on him and blotted with flecks of red. The Order had thankfully gathered in the kitchen so she didn't have any obstacles in her path as she rushed to his side.
"Heyyy," he drew out in a weak voice, forcing his eyes to follow her. "I was worried about you..."
She pressed her lips tightly together as she felt a lump form in her throat and her eyes fill with tears. The wound was gruesome and some of his orange hair had been flattened and matted by the insane amount of blood. It was just like George to turn up covered in blood and missing an ear while saying that he was worried about her. Sitting on her knees, Blair reached out to pull some of the hair out of the mess before settling on stroking his temple with her thumb.
"What happened?" she said in a whisper, holding the tears momentarily at bay. He looked so weak and tired. It broke her heart to see him in this state.
"Snape got me. Slimy git," George joked but Blair wasn't remotely amused. Regardless of this, George continued to give her a smile that was lop-sided and pinned into his cheeks. "What about you? What happened to you?"
"Nothing... I'm fine."
There was no use telling him about her run in with the extremely informing Death Eater. He was already forcing himself to stay awake for her and she could tell that he was torn between falling asleep and talking to her. Staying silent was her best tactic as George went limp against the cushions, the stroking of Blair's thumb comforting and lulling him to sleep.
