《Princess of Peace [BNHA]》Chapter Eighteen

A few weeks later and all of my classmates were scrambling to cram in extra training for the upcoming Sports Festival. I felt nauseous just thinking about it, I didn't want to compete against all my peers in front of the whole world. After seeing how hard my classmates were training, I'd tried to cram in extra training sessions in the mornings, after school and in the evenings. Mr. Aizawa granted me access to one of the school's training gyms on the main campus, it had lots of rocks and mountainous terrain so I could practice with my quirk.
I'd tried to thank Todoroki for catching me and carrying me during the USJ incident but every time I approached him about it, he pretended I didn't exist. It made me feel anxious as I didn't want him to think I was ungrateful but I was worried I'd be a bother if I kept trying to approach him about it.
After the attack, Dad wouldn't let me out of his sight, he was working a lot of late nights at the school going over police files that Detective Tsukauchi had given him as well as working on lesson plans and trying to find ways to tailor each lesson to each of his students. I wasn't allowed to leave school without him anymore since he'd found out the villains had threatened me. Once I'd finished training, I'd head to the teachers lounge to finish any homework I had. It worked out for the most part, I knew Dad was just worried and didn't want to complain. It was nice having most of my teachers there if I had any questions and they all seemed pretty happy to help.
On the Thursday before the Sports Festival, I went to the gym Mr. Aizawa had reserved for me like usual after class was over. I made it there without incident after saying goodbye to my classmates. They were all working hard too and, on their way, to train together. They'd invited me to join them but I didn't feel comfortable training with them in the event I lost control of my quirk, I didn't want any of them to get hurt.
I stopped in the girl's locker room to change out of my school uniform into some workout gear, Dad had gotten me when we went to the Disney Resort. I slipped into a pair of pale blue shorts that had a cute little tiara bedazzled on it and a matching white tank top with a cute little blue tiara bedazzled on the front. When I got to the gym, I pulled my hair up into a messy bun and looked to all the giant rocks piled in the room. After my weeks of training I was able to lift all of them with just my mind and had pretty steady control. The biggest rock which kind of resembled a tiny mountain still took a lot out of me to lift without using my hands.
I took a deep breath and clenched my fists tightly in front of me, wringing them together nervously. "Okay, just stay calm and go slow and things won't break." I tried to tell myself as I shakily extended my right hand toward the giant rock. As I unclenched my fist, I activated my quirk and extended my fingers toward the rock.
A massive force short from the tips of my fingers and I cringed as the ground became scraped in front of me and all the rocks were hurled away from me, including the giant one, smaller rocks broke apart into miniscule pebbles from the sheer force of my quirk. Tears welled in my eyes and I hurriedly returned my hand to my side keeping it securely pinned against me so I wouldn't accidentally send anything else flying.

"Try it again." A voice sounded from behind me nearly causing me to jump out of my skin.
An unflattering yelp escaped me and everything in the room that wasn't secured to the floor began to float into the air. I turned to find Mr. Aizawa and Present Mic standing in the doorway of the gym. Present Mic took a step toward me only to get lifted into the air causing Mr. Aizawa to shake his head.
"Ah! Sorry!" I squeaked and tried to take another deep breath and put everything back down. There was a loud crash as the giant boulder dropped, it shook the ground as it hit causing me to flinch.
Present Mic landed on the ground next to me with a chuckle. He reached over and gave me a pat on the head, "I think you're overthinking it, Princess Might."
"The idiot might have a point." Mr. Aizawa noted as he stepped into the gym looking like a walking mummy as he was completely wrapped head to toe in bandages and his arms were in slings. "You do fine when you're acting reflexively. Try it again and stop thinking about it."
I nodded and turned back toward the rocks. Trying not to think about it, I extended my hand toward the massive boulder. The ground cracked a little but not nearly as bad as before. I felt the boulder in my grip as if I were holding it and smiled as it lifted off the ground with ease. This was much less strain than just trying to use my mind. It felt surprisingly light; I was barely exerting any effort.
"See, I knew you could do it." Present Mic gave me a pat on the back, "when in doubt, don't think about it." He grinned.
"That seems like terrible advice to give to one of your students." Mr. Aizawa rolled his eyes.
Present Mic hung his head looking somewhat dejected.
I panicked not liking seeing the usually energetic, Present Mic, looking so down. "Ah...thanks for helping me, Present Mic." I clasped my hands in front of me and bowed my head politely.
Present Mic beamed and gave me another pat on the head, "I'm glad I vouched for you."
"Huh?" I blushed, "Present Mic recommended me to join UA too?"
He nodded.
Mr. Aizawa looked up to the small track above us that lined the walls. It was an observation deck and running track on the second floor. I followed his gaze and jumped as I spotted a boy with blonde hair and cold purple tinted blue eyes. How long had he been there? He turned and walked away before anyone could say anything.
"Do you know him?" Mr. Aizawa asked me curiously.
I shook my head.
"He's from Class 1B. Probably just scoping out the competition." Present Mic reassured me with a smile.
Mr. Aizawa shrugged before turning back to me, "don't push yourself too hard."
I nodded. "I w-won't. Thanks."
Once they were gone, I returned to my training. I felt a little better about using my hands though it was still a little unstable for me to control, I felt like I had a much better grasp on it. My mind kept wandering to the boy who'd been on the observation track. Many other students were staying late to train, perhaps he'd just gotten turned around and couldn't find the gym he was supposed to be training in. I tried not to dwell on it for too long. Despite Mr. Aizawa's warning, I'd gone a little overboard with my training and by the time my hour was up, I felt exhausted.

I skipped up the stairs to the locker room to get my things. Since I hadn't really moved a whole lot, I didn't get sweaty or anything, I just felt drained and ready for a nap. I scooped up my phone and messenger bag and stifled a yawn as I exited the locker room. Out of the corner of my eye I spotted the boy with the blonde hair leaning against a wall and let out a squeak of surprise before bowing apologetically, that was a really rude reaction to have to seeing someone.
"Ah, I'm s-sorry, you startled me." I bowed again.
"Class 1A really thinks it's so great." He scoffed. "It's all anyone talks about, that and the amazing Princess of UA." He took a step away from the wall and I felt suddenly nervous.
I took a step back.
"What's so great about you, you can't even control your quirk." He smirked and reached his hand toward me, "is it that difficult to control or are you just a weakling?"
I took another step back and let out a gasp as my back hit the wall. As his hand got closer to me, my heart began to pound in my chest. Something in my gut told me he had a quirk that could somehow allow him to use my quirk and that terrified me. Gripped with fear, I flinched.
"Hey, what do you think you're doing?" I heard an unfamiliar voice sound from the stairs.
"Stay out of i-." The blonde began but a dazed look crossed his face as he responded.
"Why don't you go take a walk." I glanced over at the stairs and spotted a tall boy with unruly indigo hair and matching dark indigo eyes.
The boy in front of me stiffly walked away with a blank look on his face. "Ah. H-hey are you okay?" I squeaked; he didn't look so good all of a sudden.
"You're a strange one, you're worried about the guy that was creeping on you?" The boy with the indigo hair frowned.
"Ah..." My cheeks reddened at this, "I don't think he was going to do anything." I bit my lip nervously as I met his indigo gaze, "thank you, for saving me."
His indigo eyes grew wide for a moment before he shook his head and frowned again, "are you okay?"
I still felt scared, my nerves were a little on edge after the USJ attack and the boy's behavior had freaked me out. Honestly, I really wished my dad were here so he could give me a hug and tell me I was alright but I knew that thought was childish. "I'm okay." I tried to offer the boy a reassuring smile. The moment I responded to his question a strange feeling washed over me.
"Let's try that again, answer honestly this time. Are you okay?" The boy repeated.
I suddenly felt like I had no control of myself and internally panicked. My mouth opened on its own and words spilled out that I had no control over, "I'm scared." As soon as my honest words left my mouth, I suddenly had control of myself again. "Ah! I'm sorry, I don't know why I said that!" I yelped before clapping my hands over my mouth.
The corners of his lips twitched as if he were trying to fight back a smile as he watched my embarrassed panic. "You're pretty strange." He smirked, "what's your name?"
"Amelia Takada." I replied shyly. "May I ask yours?"
The corners of his lips twitched again, "Hitoshi Shinso."
"I-It's nice to meet you, Shinso." I smiled and bowed my head in greeting.
He shook his head again before sighing and stuffing his hands in his pockets, "come on, I'll walk you to wherever you're going."
"Huh?" I looked to him curiously.
"You said you were still scared, and who knows if that creep is still lingering around." He shrugged, "let's go."
"A-Ah, okay." I nervously scrambled to the stairs. As we neared the bottom of the stairs, I started to feel a little light headed from using my quirk so much and from whatever that strange compulsion that had overcome me earlier was. My heel hit the last step wrong and I slipped backward with a yelp.
"Hey!" Shinso called in surprise. Strong arms encircled me and I felt a hand gently cradle my skull preventing me from getting a concussion as we both tumbled onto the stairs. I'd managed to take Shinso down with me.
My back hit the edge of the step painfully and I winced at the sudden pain before my entire body burned with embarrassment as Shinso fell on top of me. He grimaced as his arm protecting my head slammed against another step. His face was flushed with heat too at our sudden closeness. I closed my eyes willing myself to disappear.
"S-sorry." I buried my face in my hands.
Shinso cleared his throat somewhat awkwardly before sitting up, pulling me into a sitting position on the bottom step. "Are you okay?" He asked nervously as he scooted away from me putting some distance between us.
I nodded. "Thanks...for saving me...again."
He sighed. "Starting to regret it, you're a walking trouble magnet."
"I'm sorry." I groaned dejectedly.
He smirked at this and got to his feet, "it's fine. Where are we going?"
"The teacher's lounge."
He inclined an eyebrow at this and threw me a questioning look.
"My dad's a teacher." I amended.
"Really?" He asked curiously. "Who?"
"All Might."
He stiffened at this, "great, the trouble magnet just happens to be the little princess of UA." He rubbed his temples in annoyance, "the stupid tiaras should have given it away."
I bit my lip feeling suddenly remorseful, it sounded like he didn't like me, "I'm s-sorry. Y-you don't have to walk me." My voice shook. "Th-thanks for helping me." I turned and ran away like a coward unable to face him any longer and not wanting to upset him further with my presence.
...
The next day, the final Friday before the Sports Festival, as the final bell rang signaling the end of class sounded, there was a clatter in the hall. I was closest to the door as I'd been about to race off to train at the gym Mr. Aizawa had reserved for me. Hesitantly I reached for the door, only to jump as it flew open with a loud crash causing me to let out a squeal of terror and nearly topple over. Strong hands gripped my arms keeping me upright, I shakily looked behind me to see who had caught me and trembled as I was met with a pair of angry crimson eyes, Bakugo!
"You're in the way, Crybaby!" He snarled.
"Ah!" An involuntary squeak of fear escaped me. My body tried to jerk away reflexively. His grip on my arms tightened and I winced. I hesitantly looked to see who or what had thrown the door open and nearly given me a heart attack in the process only for my heart to drop into the pit of my stomach as I realized the entire hall outside our classroom was filled with students. They were all staring at us. I shivered and tried to take a step back but couldn't as Bakugo was still standing behind me keeping me upright and now scowling at the gawkers in the hall.
A few of my classmates approached the door curiously, Uraraka stopped a few paces behind us and looked at the throng of students in awe, "u-um, why the heck are you all here?"
"Do you students have some sort of business with our class?" Our class rep, Tenya, piped up curiously.
"Why are you blocking our doorway?" Mineta piped up before shouting dramatically, "I won't let you hold us hostage!"
Bakugo looked even more annoyed, "they're scouting out the competition, idiots. We're the class that survived a real villain attack. They want to see us with their own eyes." He shoved me lightly to the side but it was enough force to cause me to lose my balance.
"EEP!" Midoriya managed to steady me before any harm could befall me. "You okay?" His hand brushed against my bruised back where I'd hit the stairs the night before and I let out a soft hiss of pain before biting my lip trying to keep a straight face. "Amy?" He looked down at me worried.
"I-I'm okay." I stammered, "Th-thanks, Izuku."
His cheeks reddened a little as I said his name. He looked a little flustered as he smiled back at me and nervously scratched the back of his head. "S-sure. Don't mention it."
Some of the students in the hall began murmuring about the USJ once Bakugo brought it up. At the mention of the attack, I paled and began to feel a little faint. My lack of control of my quirk had scared me more than the villains threatening my life. I could have seriously hurt someone, or worse. I thought I heard Mineta panicking behind us and had a feeling he was worried Bakugo was going to do something to make all the students in the hall angry at us all.
"Let's just hope he doesn't explode anyone." Midoriya piped up beside me.
"At least now you know what a future pro looks like." Bakugo grumbled in annoyance. "Now move it, extras!" He growled at the students in the hall ready to force his way through.
Tenya, Uraraka and Midoriya panicked at his rude words.
"You can't walk around calling people 'extras' just because you don't know who they are!" Tenya scolded him.
I took a step forward and reached out catching his shirt sleeve in my hand causing him to pause and swivel around to face me shooting a dark look in my direction. "What?!"
"That wasn't very nice and you should apologize." I managed to squeak out. His glare intensified, "please." I flinched.
"Huh?! What the hell did you just say to me, Crybaby?!" Bakugo snarled and clenched his fists.
I wanted to run away because he was scaring me but he'd said something really mean to the other students and it would be wrong for me to let him get away with it. "You were mean to our peers and you should say sorry..."
Our classmates held their breaths as Bakugo and I faced one another. Despite my attempt to stand strong, my body was trembling. Bakugo looked livid. As he opened his mouth to snarl something at me, I heard a familiar voice in the hall.
"So, this is class 1-A. I heard you guys were impressive, but you just sound like an ass. Is everyone in the hero course delusional, or just you?" Shinso made his way to the front of the crowd and fixed Bakugo with a dark look. His eyes briefly swept over me and I shrank beneath his gaze. "How sad to come here and find a bunch of ego maniacs. I wanted to be in the hero course, but like many others here, I was forced to choose a different track. Such is life. I didn't cut it the first time around, but I have another chance. If any of us do well in the Sports Festival, the teachers can decide to transfer us to the hero course. And they'll have to transfer people out to make room." His gaze scanned my classmates before returning to Bakugo it almost seemed like he was trying to goad him. I'd worked out that Shinso had some kind of quirk that allowed him to control people. He continued, "scouting the competition? Maybe some of my peers are, but I'm here to let you know that if you don't bring your very best, I'll steal your spot right from under you. Consider this a declaration of war."
Bakugo let out a growl at his words and made a move to lunge at him. I tightened my hold on his shirt sleeve in an attempt to hold him back.
"P-please don't fight!" I cried in a panic; I didn't want things to get violent.
"Bakugo! You jerk!" Jiro and Ashido snapped in unison.
"You made Amy cry!" Yaoyorozu glared at him.
"She's always crying!" Bakugo growled.
"I'm sorry." I sniffled and hid behind my hair trying to block out everyone's staring. My quirk started to go berserk. Desks, chairs, backpacks and a very irate Bakugo began to lift off the ground.
"PUT ME DOWN, CRYBABY!" Bakugo snarled.

Sara's (not really) Fabulous System Armageddon, Book I: The World Ended at Rush Hour
Planet Earth, Monday, October 7th, 2019. 18:30 * * On a fateful day, during rush hour in eastern North America, Heavens and Hell crumbled and fell from their higher dimension on Earth. It came from "above" but not the same above we regard in our tridimensional Euclidean reasoning. No, it came from "above" as in from a higher dimension. Bits and pieces of those places fell on Earth from all directions, this time in tridimensional Euclidean space. Satellites, the ISS, and space debris all were wiped clean from orbit. Even those that didn't crash with the falling debris were knocked off orbit by the shockwaves. On the ground, power distribution lines were disrupted and most power facilities were left abandoned by their dead staff. Most of these had emergency shutdown routines that engaged in a few days. Some others had a survivor among their staff that followed protocol and activated their SCRAM switches, stopping the power plant. Long-distance communication disappeared the internet along with it. The world was plunged into technological darkness. Nine hundred and ninety-nine out of every thousand human beings perished immediately in the pulse of magical energy from the torn spatial boundary. Spirits were rent asunder and vanished, their fate neither salvation nor damnation, only oblivion. The criteria used for this culling was latent magic potential. It didn't discriminate against education, gender, age, or ethnic group. But of the around seven million survivors, most would meet their doom moments later. Those on moving vehicles, like the ones driving on highways suddenly had to contend with high-speed uncontrolled cars and trucks driven by corpses. Trapped in their vehicles and helpless, they became part of the long snake of crushed metal. Very few survived. Those in the air or out in the sea were alone and probably unable to control their rides. Airplanes crashed, and ships kept their course or drifted away, depending on their autopilot. Several ended their own lives in utter despair after seeing their loved ones die in front of them. Another large group would die at the hands of other survivors. Violence and aggression became the norm. Only a few sparse pockets of not-so-sane survivors managed to band together and cooperate for the sake of mutual survival. The sole survivor in a five-over-one apartment building in Georgia, a girl became the keystone to humanity's survival. Sara's fabulous System Apocalypse had just started. She has only one remark. It was anything but fabulous. * * Updates every Wednesday and Sunday.
