《Princess of Peace [BNHA]》Chapter Twenty Five

I hadn't heard from Amy all day and was starting to worry, when I got a call from Tsukauchi about Shigaraki showing up at the mall where Amy and her classmates had gone. At the same time, I got a text from Aizawa with an image attached to it of Amy sound asleep in the teacher's lounge. After I got off the phone with Tsukauchi I hurriedly called Aizawa. His phone picked up on the second ring.
I didn't give him a moment to answer as I went into panic mode, "is Amy alright? What happened? Why is she with you? Where is she? How-."
Aizawa let out a long sigh that cut me off, once I'd stopped rambling, he replied in a calm voice, "she's fine, she's been at the school all day with Hizashi, Shinso and I."
Shinso? He was on my keep away from Amy list.
"What happened? She was supposed to go to the mall..." Though I was glad she didn't, I couldn't bear to think what would have happened if Shigaraki had bumped into her at the mall with the rest of her classmates. He knew she was my daughter and that put a big target on her back.
"I'm not entirely sure on that myself. Shinso bumped into her on his way and said she was beating herself up over something, he brought her along with him to cheer her up." Aizawa answered.
"She didn't seem upset..." I paused and tried to think harder, sure she'd seemed upset about the final she thought she deserved to fail but I thought Aizawa and I had reassured her and she was feeling better. Was it possible I'd overlooked it? My heart hurt at the thought of Amy suffering alone and me being too oblivious to see. "She's alright?"
"She's fine." Aizawa repeated himself. "She's a little tired from training, so I told her to sleep it off in the lounge, Hizashi is with her."
"Alright..." I breathed a sigh of relief, I felt like I'd aged a year in those few seconds of worry and panic, "could you do me a favor?"
"What is it?" Aizawa sounded reluctant.
"Could you watch over Amy for me, a bit longer, I need to head into the police station and I'm not sure how long it will take. I don't like her being home alone." I especially didn't want her home alone when The League had made a move and got close to her classmates. Were they planning something else?
"I can do that." Aizawa agreed. "She can stay the night with me if need be."
"I appreciate it, I hope it doesn't take that long but I'll keep you posted. Thanks, Aizawa." I hung up the phone and headed to the station to meet Tsukauchi and Young Midoriya to hear about his run in with Shigaraki.

I arrived at the station as Young Midoriya and Tsukauchi were stepping out. Young Midoriya appeared to be feeling down. Knowing him he wished he could have done something more to try and detain Shigaraki. From what I'd heard from Tsukauchi on my way over, he'd done an amazing job remaining calm under pressure. Because he remained calm and didn't act irrationally, no one had gotten hurt, but it was probably hard for him to see. Sometimes the hardest thing to do in a crisis is to do nothing.
"Izuku?!" I heard a somewhat familiar feminine voice and glanced at the end of the alley. A familiar woman with medium length dark green hair with tear filled green eyes appeared around the corner with one of Tsukauchi's deputies. I recognized her as the woman who'd helped me at the store when Amy had started her period. She ran toward Young Midoriya, her gait was unsteady and she almost tripped due to her frantic worrying.
"Mom?" Young Midoriya turned to her.
"Izuku! My baby!" She rushed to her son's side and gripped his arm with one hand as the other clutched at a soaked handkerchief. Her cheeks were flushed and streaked with tears, she'd been crying for some time, probably worried sick about her child.
I felt my stomach twist into an uncomfortable knot. Should I have rushed to Amy's side right away? Of course, you should have, moron! She's our precious daughter! She's always your number one priority! Ayumi's voice raged in the back of my mind.
"I can't do this anymore." Midoriya's mother choked on a sob, "I don't think my heart can handle another scare." She broke down in tears.
Young Midoriya placed a hand on her shoulder. "I'm sorry. Everything's fine. I'm okay, Mom. There's no need to cry. The heroes and the police have been taking really good care of me all night." He tried to reassure his distraught mother.
Had I just failed as a parent? My stomach churned. Even though Amy wasn't at the scene, she would have been if she'd gone along with her original plan, surely that would scare her. I should have gone to her first and made sure I saw her with my own eyes and talked to her to make sure she was alright.
Midoriya's mother dried her tears and looked beyond her son, recognition flooded her eyes as she spotted me, "oh, it's you."
Midoriya turned to me curiously.
"Was your daughter involved too?" She asked worriedly.
I was moved that her worry extended to Amy, though she'd never met her and offered her a smile, "ah, no, luckily she was with a friend, elsewhere today... now probably isn't the best time, but I never got the chance to thank you, for your help, back then." I nervously scratched the back of my head.

"Thank heavens she wasn't involved." Tears welled in her eyes again and she hugged Young Midoriya close.
Tsukauchi turned to his deputy, "Sansa, make sure they get home safe."
Young Midoriya and his mother took their leave and I followed Tsukauchi into the station. I sent a quick text to Aizawa to check in on Amy. It was getting late already. I didn't want to leave her to sleep at an unfamiliar place. I had to hurry up.
My phone buzzed a moment later. It was a picture message of Amy in Aizawa's small kitchen. Present Mic was standing next to her eyeing whatever she was cooking like he hadn't seen food in months. There was a cat sitting atop the countertop on her opposite side trying to swipe at whatever she was preparing. Amy was laughing at her amusing audience. A text followed after it.
A: Late dinner, after being scolded for not having food in the house, we went grocery shopping.
I chuckled softly to myself as I imagined her adorable scolding. No doubt she was worried about his health and trying to teach him the importance of good nutrition. I smiled and tucked my phone back into my pocket. Feeling a little better after seeing she was alright; I could focus on the task at hand.
By the time I finished up at the station, it was past midnight. I called Aizawa to see if he was still awake. He answered the phone but I didn't give him a moment to say anything as my worry took over again.
"Is Amy alright? I'm finished up here, I'll head over now. Sorry for the late hour."
Aizawa sighed on the other end, "she's still fine, we're watching a movie. I already told you it was alright for her to stay the night; you don't need to rush on my account."
I wasn't, not really. It was pure selfishness. I wanted my daughter back. I didn't like her being away. "It's alright, I appreciate it, but I'll head over now."
"Alright." Aizawa hung up.
I rushed over to his apartment. He answered after my third knock, in my haste to get there I knocked a little more forcefully than I had intended causing the door to shake. He shook his head at me as he opened the door.
"Can you be any louder?" He grumbled sarcastically as he motioned for me to step inside. His apartment was small but neat and orderly. I spotted Amy and Present Mic sound asleep on the sofa. It appeared they'd fallen asleep during whatever movie they'd been watching. Present Mic had his arm draped around her and I noticed the cat from the earlier photo curled up in her lap sound asleep. Aizawa noticing where my gaze had drifted smirked, "they're disgustingly adorable."
I smiled. "Thanks for looking after her for me."
Aizawa shrugged, "anytime. She's a good kid."
"I see she made a new friend." I indicated the sleeping cat.
"He hasn't left her alone since she got here." Aizawa pointed.
Present Mic stirred awake and looked surprised to have fallen asleep. He slowly moved away from Amy and caught her as she started to slump over in her sleep before laying her down gently on the sofa. The cat didn't seem to mind and readjusted its position to sleep beside her on the sofa.
"Aw man." He whined when he spotted me, "I was looking forward to an amazing Princess Might breakfast in the morning."
Aizawa rolled his eyes at this. "No one invited you to stay over."
"You're welcome to breakfast any time." I smiled at Present Mic.
"Don't tell him that or you'll never get rid of him." Aizawa shot.
"Hey, don't make me sound like a freeloader." Present Mic whined in protest.
"You are a freeloader." Aizawa growled.
I chuckled at the pair of them but decided to intervene before it turned into a fight, "what movie did you all watch?" I asked, praying it wasn't something scary.
Their faces reddened as if they were suddenly embarrassed. What on earth did they watch? Was Amy going to be traumatized?
Aizawa looked uncomfortable and looked away.
Present Mic nervously muttered under his breath, "...there were cute ponies..."
"Oh! That's one of our favorites." I beamed, "they have such heartwarming and positive themes about friendship."
"Right." Present Mic suddenly gushed as if he'd been worried, I was going to judge them for watching the pony movie. Though it was technically for children it was too cute not to like, "and they're so cute."
Aizawa shot a glare at us both, "you can both leave, now."
"He secretly liked it." Present Mic murmured.
"Out." Aizawa pointed to the door.
I chuckled and went to pick up Amy. She didn't stir as I lifted her off the couch. She snuggled into my arms the moment I picked her up and I couldn't help but smile. Relief flooded through me, I felt exponentially better now that she was with me.
"Thanks again." I looked to Present Mic and Aizawa.
They both offered me a smile.
"She's always welcome." Aizawa responded.
