《SUNDROP/MOONDROP X READER (Fanfic!)》C5. Lights Off.

Sunny seemed nervous the whole day.
He kept shooting you weird looks, but at least he wasn't avoiding you this time.
Nighttime arrived all too quickly. Maribelle was at the daycare again today- she said her older brothers and father often went to get pizza and would leave her there- but she wasn't as shy. She still didn't want to play with the other kids, though, and instead sat at one of the bright orange picnic tables and doodled with you. She said you were a really good artist. You knew she was just trying to be nice about the deformed cat on your paper.
Waving goodbye to Maribelle, as she was the last one gone again, you smile to yourself at yet another successful day. You felt as if you were finally getting the hang of things. Maybe the daycare wasn't so bad.
After cleaning around the play area, you find Sunny sitting at the edge of the ballpit, hugging himself. You sit quietly next to him. "Are you okay? You've been acting weird all day."
"I'm just nervous," He admits, "The lights usually go off every hour at night, conserving the power or something. I don't want you to be here for that, since you're staying for the night shift and all."
You look down. You still don't know what's up with the lights. You never remembered to ask. It didn't seem so important to you then, or even now. "Does... something bad happen? With the lights off?" Your mind considers any and all possibilities, but no dangerous reason that you can come up with makes sense. Maybe you just aren't that creative. Hell, you already discovered that while drawing with Maribelle.
"Oh yes yes yes," Sunny says, his voice trailing off to a mutter, "Very bad things happen. Very bad."
You hesitate. After hearing about why Sunny couldn't go into the playplaces anymore, you don't really trust his judgement too much on what is truly 'Bad.' For all you know, he could mean when the lights go off he starts knocking over boxes without remorse like some sort of Sunzilla. Because that would be horrifying.
"Look Sunny, I promise I'll be fine. You'll be fine." You assure him, placing your hand on his.
He stares back at you with pleading eyes. "You promise you won't leave me?" He asks, his voice timid and small.
"Of course not," You reply, "I promise I won't leave you. I'd never leave you, Sunny, I don-" You're cut off by a sudden clattering from upstairs. Shit. Someone's here.
You and Sunny exchange a wild glance before he shoots up and yanks you to your feet. "Oh, I wonder who that could be!" He whispers excitedly. You realize the looks you gave each other meant two different things entirely. Clearly he was over the moon. Pun intended.
You grab his shoulders frantically, "Look Sunny, there shouldn't be anyone here. We have to hide." He only stares back with mild confusion.
"But..." He begins, "Aren't you the security guard for tonight? We should see who it is! I'll be backup!" You silently curse his goofy face.
"We can see who it is from a hidden area.", You hurriedly whisper. "We'll have an advantage that way. Plus, they might not even come into this area, we should just stay here." You know you're taking the coward's way out as soon as the words leave your mouth, but you really don't want to go find out who it is.
"The balcony!" Sunny gasps, "We can hide up there!"

You stare at him in disbelief for a moment. "No, I- I'm not going up to the-"
"YOU PINKY PROMISED!" Sunny exclaims in a loud whisper, holding his pinky out as if you need a reminder. You shush him, nervously staring up at the balcony.
"I didn't say when," You mumur, stalling for time. It's too late. The both of you can hear tiny feet stomping into the entrance of the slide. Without waiting for you, Sunny bolts for the balcony, and you stumble back into one of the playplaces.
It's silent for a moment before you hear the whoosh of someone falling out of the slide and into the ballpit. A few painfully long, quiet seconds later, Sunny emerges from the balcony, spinning and making a scene out of himself. What the hell is he doing??
You gasp as he dives off and lands in the pit, and you lean forward slowly to see if he's alright- not that you could anyways, at how far away you are.
Suddenly he breaks the surface of the ballpit, turning to trudge to the edge of it, but he's holding- oh my god, is that a child? What is a kid doing here at this time? How did he get here?
You run for the two of them, hearing Sunny talking the boy's ear off as he finds a spot to put him down; "...where are all of your friends? We can finger paint, tell stories..." You tune him out as he sets the child down, and you notice the boy has a fazwatch. Now who gave him that? Or did he... take it?
Sunny seems to still be chatting to the boy when suddenly- him and his presumtuous little child ass- shoves a stack of boxes over and bolts, sending Sunny into a frenzied panic. You hold in a shout and run over to help Sunny pick up the boxes.
"Clean up, clean up...." He seems to be muttering to himself. In a fit of rage, you whirl around to reprimand the boy... but he's nowhere to be found.
You start wandering farther into the daycare, when you see him.
At the security desk.
Hand inches away from the light switch.
Then the room goes dark.
You spin on your heels to see Sun, hunched over and staring past you, screaming in horror. "No, no! Why would you do that?!" Clearly he's not talking to you, but you can't help but feel like you've betrayed him somehow.
You begin to step towards him, and he groans out, his hands clawing at his face as if he's trying to rip it off. "I warned you, I WARNED YOU!" His piercing screams and howls are inhumane as he stumbles backwards and falls into the ballpit.
"Sunny!" You cry, running towards him. You're almost there, when- thank god- his hands reach up and grab the edge of the pit.
But they aren't his hands. They're blue.
Whatever it is; whether it's taken over Sunny or completely replaced him; heaves itself out of the pit, growling in a much deeper voice than Sunny's average everyday chipmunk-squeal.
You gasp- it's Sunny, just... not. His face is a moon, and his pants have stars instead of the usual stripes. Not to mention, his eyes brandish glowing red pupils instead of Sunny's stark, white eyes. He laughs, a disgusting, rattling, scratchy sound that echoes throughout the room.
You turn and hastily scramble for the nearest playplace. Sunny can't enter them, maybe this- this alter ego of his, or whatever is, can't either. When you look back, though, it's not there. It doesn't even seem to have tried to chase you.

Hunched over as you run past colored walls, you see a small glow further up into the playplace, but instead of red it's the dim, blue glow of a fazwatch... A fazwatch! You sprint to catch up with it, and grab onto the small boy who's holding the watch, crouched in the corner before he can turn to brace himself.
"What did you-" You begin, but are immediately cut off by a voice echoing out of his fazwatch.
"Gregory," It says, the voice sounding completely robotic, "I do not know what you did, but the lights are out in the daycare! You need to find the emergency backup generators and-" You tune out the voice after this, looking around wildly for any sort of generator. Admittedly, you aren't sure what they look like, neither can you see very well.
You turn to tell the boy- Gregory, to stick with you, but he's gone. Shit balls.
You quickly search for a way to get up to a higher part of the play structure, and find a space at the top where you have quite a view. It's a small area, surrounded by netting with pillars at each corner and a roof on top, but you can see almost everything in the daycare.
You start to look for some sort of generator, or Sunny's alter ego, Moon, you suppose, but it's quickly apparent he's already been looking for you.
Something grabs your shoulder, yanking you back so you fall into the netting. A cool hand slides across your chest past your neck to your other shoulder, so you're secured firmly in place. You feel something press up behind you, and you don't have to turn to know Moon is there, trapping you. How he got up so high, you don't know. Honestly, that motherfucker probably flew.
His voice breaks the barrier of dead silence, and it sends an icy shudder through you. "Naughty, naughty girl," He teases with a sickening edge in his tone, "I thought you might be the boy who turned the lights off, but this is certainly better."
You start shaking, clawing at his arm, but it won't budge. He just tightens his grip in response, a cackle from his lips drowning in your ear. Another arm snakes through the netting on your other side and wraps around your waist, pulling you closer. Moon can't step foot into the playplace, otherwise he would've just followed you in, but it doesn't seem to stop him from finding ways around that.
A part of you nearly leans forward to bite him in attempt to escape, but you stop once you remember he's metal. It'd barely dent his bitchass. The only way to fight back is to turn the lights on.
"How's Sun been treating you, hmm?" A small gasp escapes your lips at his unexpected question, and he begins tracing your collarbone with his thumb. 'What?'
"I'm able to see everything that happens through our eyes," Moon rambles in a deep murmur, "but he's so strict about keeping the lights on, that ." A dry laugh echoes past your ears. "He never shares the body. I've desperately been wanting to meet you..." Those last words hold a twinge of something that shouldn't be there, and something that you don't even want to consider.
You shove yourself backwards, out of options, and Moon's arms loosen, slipping as he's flung away from you. You stumble forwards, catching yourself on the ground as you desperately turn around to see where Moon went. He's still there, though- it seems the top of the second floor of the playhouse is under him to hold him stable, and that's how he got up there. He's barely affected.
Another mischievious cackle flies out of him, as if this is funny to him in some way. He leans forward into the netting again, this time too far away to reach you, but he isn't making an attempt to. Just watching, those bright, red eyes trained on you.
"You'll have to come out sooner or later," Moon giggles, "But I'll make you a deal." He hesitates, an obviously calculated action just for dramatics, before continuing in a hushed whisper. "Come out now, and I'll be more lenient on your punishment." His head begins tilting on it's axis, adorable when done by Sunny, but absolutely terrifying when done by Moon. He leans away from the net a sliver, his arms reaching up to grab the roof. "I'm so excited to get to know you, Y/n." His head stops its slow rotation. "You and I both know that the feeling is mutual." He hoists himself up, his sillouette disappearing in one swift movement.
That's the first time you've heard Sunny or Moon ever say your name. It's chilling.
You take a moment to breathe, but even after a few minutes it's still hard. You decide to go look for Gregory, trembling as you keep a wary distance from each netted wall you pass.
You don't find any signs of Moon, but you see Gregory's flashlight illuminating up the other playplace as he flicks generators on. You're tempted to go get him, but despite the gap between the two play structures being small, you desperately do not want to risk it.
After a few minutes of anxious waiting, you begin to step out of the playplace, ready to bolt for the other one after a hasty decision of deciding you need to get to Gregory, though it's interrupted by a sudden blast of white around you.
You look up as you realize the lights have been turned on- Gregory must've found all the generators, no thanks to you. Though, it is Gregory's fault you're both in this mess, so you're at no fault here.
You spot Gregory already heading towards the daycare's exit, and quickly chase after him, grabbing him by the hem of his blue shirt and turning him around. Before you can yell at him, something scoops him right out of your grasp, stomping past you.
"Rule-breaker, RULE-BREAKER!" A familiar, seething voice growls, "You are BANNED from the daycare!" Sunny drags Gregory to the doors and literally throws him out. You wince as you see Gregory land on the ground with a thud.
Despite endangering all of you, you feel the need to go out and make sure he's okay- He is still a child. And, you need a moment away from the playplaces, away from... Sunny. It wasn't his fault, but you need a minute. Not to mention, it's rattling to now know Moon can see through Sunny's eyes, if he was telling the truth. Not likely, but still terrifying, knowing it's a possibility he's always there, watching.
You quickly slip past Sunny, nearly tripping as you look up and see Gregory climbing into... Freddy's stomach? What the hell? Should you be worried?
"Hey, where are you going?" A voice yells out, and you turn to see Sunny's confused face.
You try to say something, but are at a loss for words. After meeting Moon, Sunny's face has a new eeriness to it. It's hard to look him in the eye. Why hadn't he just told you about Moon? It could've helped you be at least slightly more prepared. Then again, there isn't much that could prepare you for meeting someone like Moon.
"Come back here," Sunny says, opening the door wider for you. You hesitantly shake your head.
The color drains from his voice. "Stop playing around, come back, Y/n!" There it was. Your name again. It should've been comforting for him to say it, but you could only hear it in Moon's voice. Hear his threats that accompanied it. It was too much.
You take a step back, turning your body away as you shakily locate the stairs.
"NOOO!" A desperate howl rings out from behind you. "You can't leave! You promised! YOU PROMISED ME, Y/N!"
You wince. You did promise. You did. But there was tomorrow, you could talk to him tomorrow. He'd be fine for tonight, right? You take a more confident step forward, seeing the stairs that Freddy had taken to an upper level.
"Y/n, turn around! Come back! You have to stay, you have to! You promised you would! You promised, you promised, you promised!" Sunny's voice started out as a growl, but quickly turned to a desperate shriek with the voicecracks of a teenage boy as he sees you making no effort to go back.
Suddenly he goes silent, and you wonder if he's given up. Then his voice cuts through the room like a knife, unexpectedly ice cold. "You're a LIAR! A DIRTY LIAR! A LIAR A LIAR A LIAR!" You whirl around at this. Why would he say that? Surely he didn't mea-
"You are BANNED from the daycare!" He hisses. You look around to see if Gregory has returned, but no- it's just you. Sunny is talking to you.
You attempt a step forward, but he tenses, his fingers clawing holes into the door as he throws himself foward without moving a foot past the threshold. "SECURITY ALERT! SECURITY ALERT! WOOO WOOO WOOO!" He shrieks those final words at you before yanking the door back with a BOOM.
You stand in cold silence, your heart pounding steadily along to the ringing in your ears.
Whoops.

Sanctuary
A girl searching for someone. A boy who lost his memories. A man from another world. A woman trying to prove her worth. Follow along as this unlikely group of people join forces to help each other accomplish their own goals in this non-epic fantasy adventure. Fair Warning: This fiction contains many of the well-known light novel tropes, though I try to give them my own spin. If you’re tired of them by now, you might want to keep away. There are no demon lords however, nor any end-of-the-world cataclysm situation that only the MC can solve. This story is more about different people coming together and helping each other out to achieve their own goals and objectives.

Apex Immortal: a LitRPG system rampage
"Across the multiverse where the contest for power is the only constant, only a handful have succeeded in reaching the ultimate heights of ascendency and gained the title Apex Immortal. Dominus is one of them, unsurpassed in overwhelming violence, feared across universes. Now, memories locked and stranded far away from everything he’d built, Dominus will face enemies that will challenge even his powers and discover that change is more difficult than destruction." I’ve been writing fiction on and off for the last decade and I’ve always wondered how a peak immortal (or an OP superhero) would single handedly conquer a world that mirrors our own in all of its complexity. As a politics nerd, this is my attempt at answering that question using Machiavelli’s “The Prince” as the primary playbook. The “monsters” are entire political systems with entrenched culture. Expect many versions of real world political systems (and cultures) to be on the hit list. The MC has to successfully institute regime and cultural change without engaging in wholesale genocide and causing the state to fail. Expect things to go wrong pretty quickly as escalating and cascading political and economic effects rapidly go out of control. Methods deployed are not for the faint hearted.

The Great Erectus and Faun
The Great Erectus, otherwise known as "The Big Guy" is NOT a god. Don't call him that. It will tick him off. He and his newfound apprentice/sidekick the definitely not a creation goddess Faun have a little problem. The Big Guy's universe is blowing up. Faun might have had something to do with that. (She feels awful about it BTW) They must rush about the unraveling universe saving (or judging) worlds as the end of all things is bearing down upon them at the speed of light, so they have a bit of time but really can't mess about. Along the way they will encounter Lovecraftian horrors, divine ex-girlfriends, surly AI's and a host of other hassles. Enjoy such delights as the complete destruction of the universe, a children's "Christmas pageant" except where "the greatest story ever told" involves an eldritch horror from another universe, and an innocent misunderstanding concerning the exact definition of a "red dwarf". Existential dread! Lovecraftian comedy! It's as much madness as can be shoved into a single work and still remotely make sense! If you enjoy completely off the hook lunacy, this one is for you!
