However, Kuroko closes it back.
He looks at lost, at the same time nervous.
His lips part again. The others patiently wait for Kuroko to answer Akashi's question.
"A..Ak..Aka.." The bluenette mutters slowly. His voice is hoarse and weak but they still let out a relieve sigh because they know Kuroko still recognise Akashi.
However, everything not happening as they wish for.
Kuroko closes back his lips and didn't utter anything anymore. He shakes his head.
"I can't remember." Kuroko confusedly says.
The other's mouth are gaping, unbelief with what have they heard from their best friend's mouth.
While later, Ogiwara entering the room. He brings a bucket of fruits as his visiting gift. However, the gloomy and graving atmosphere that he feels that time make him stops in the middle before reaching Kuroko's bed.
Some of the Kiseki no Sedai are sitting on the floor like their body drop by their selves, each of them has a shocked look and near to cry.
The Seirin are sitting on the couch beside the window with a sad look.
'What happen here?' he thought. His eyes travel to the bed.
Kagami sits on the chair next to Kuroko's bed with an angry look. He tightly grips his hand until his knuckle changes into white.
Akashi, who sit on the other side of Kuroko's bed is comforting someone with a soft but warm tone.
Ogiwara turns his head to a person on the bed. His eyes wide open when he realises Kuroko is awake. The bucket that he hold drops instantaneously. He runs toward Kuroko, happily.
'He is awake!' The brunette shouts in his mind.
"Kuroko! You're awake! I'm glad" Ogiwara hugs Kuroko tightly. His tears of joy drop one by one.
The others turn their face to another place with a pained look, they close their eyes tightly. They can predict what will happen next. Akashi on the other side looking at Ogiwara and Kuroko with a sad expression.
Kuroko a bit slow but eventually he replies the brunette hug.
"..Ogi.. ogiw.." Kuroko mutters try his hard to remember the brunette full name but it didn't come. Why?!
Too bad, Ogiwara couldn't see how terrifying Kuroko's face is showing. He scares that he will make the person he is hugging right now, hurt as he told him that he can't remember any of them, just like how his others friend does.
Midorima rises from his position with shadow look.
"I am going to call for a doctor," Midorima says gloomily.
"Eh? Why are you calling a doctor? Kuroko is fine here." Ogiwara releases the hug and looks at Kuroko but taken back as he sees how horrify is Kuroko's face.
Midorima closes his eyes and continues to exiting the room.
Ogiwara on the other side starts to feel uneasy.
"What's wrong Kuroko? Have you hurt anywhere?" Ogiwara frantically asks.

Kuroko just shakes his head. Without knowing the reason why tears start forming in his eyes.
'Why is it hurt my heart badly? Is he the most important person for me? And yet, why it is so fuzzy to remember him?' Kuroko thought running inside his head.
He looks down on his bed and starts to sob.
"Kuroko! Why..? Am I hurting you? Tell me where it's hurt." Ogiwara holds Kuroko's shoulder, waiting for the latter replies.
"I..I am sorry.." Kuroko manages to mutter under his sobs.
"What are you sorry for? I am the one who should feel sorry." Ogiwara says this time he manages to calm himself.
Kuroko reaches for Ogiwara's face which the latter took his hand and grip it in comfort.
"Do you want to say something?" Ogiwara could detect the difference in Kuroko. His eyes telling him that he is going to say something that he afraid.
Kuroko closed his eyes in pain. " I don't remember. I can't remember who you're"
Ogiwara feels like there's a burden on his shoulder right after he heard what Kuroko said.
"w-what?" He terrifyingly looks at Kuroko. When he sees the guilty look at Kuroko's face, he knows Kuroko is not joking. He turns to others who look sadly to him. This is the reason why he sensed negative aura before.
Ogiwara's body dropped to the floor, his eyes widen in disbelief. Now, he could hear the others start to sob. The Kiseki no Sedai and Seirin. They are hoping Kuroko will at least remember Ogiwara. However, their last hope crushed.
Without Ogiwara noticing, tears start to flow down his eyes too.
He can't believe this happen.
Kuroko silently watches as his friends cry. His grips on the cover tighten, tears still falling from his blue sky eyes. He starts to blame himself. Although his memories of them are hazy, he knows that they are his most important person. How could he easily forget about them? They seem to care about him a lot and him sure that he also care for them.
Moreover, who is he actually? He does response when the other call him Kuroko because he could see that they directed to him. He also has a feeling that Kuroko is his name but what about other things? About himself, about his family and about his friends.
He forces himself to remember. Close his eyes tightly and focusing on remembering till his head hurt so much. He shakes his head to make a headache gone. But it didn't. He raises his hand to his head, rubbing his temple.
This taking the others attention.
"Kuroko-kun.. are you okay?" Akashi asks as he supports the bluenette's body that seems wavering a little.
"I need to remember..arghh.." Kuroko says before screams in pain.
"Don't force yourself Kurochin." Murasakibara grips Kuroko's hand so that Kuroko's attention is on him, not on the pain he feels.

"No.. I need to remember, I have made you sad. Arghh.. I need.. to.." Kuroko says between his screams.
"Kuroko!" Kagami shouts Kuroko's name. He needs to stop the bluenette or else Kuroko's condition will worsening. He cups both of Kuroko's cheek and turns it to him.
Kuroko's eyes widen in surprise.
"Listen to me. Stop forcing yourself. We are okay. We rather being forgotten than seeing you hurt. So, you could stop now." Kagami says with comfort to Kuroko. Hoping that the bluenette will stop.
Kuroko drops his hand to the bed and rises it back only to hold firmly at Kagami's hand. He cries. "I am sorry.. I am sorry.."
Kagami hugs Kuroko, letting the bluenette rest his head on his chest. "It's okay, we will find a way"
=======
"I'm afraid the new tumour that we found inside his frontal lobe has started to affecting his memories." The doctor announces to everyone in the room.
Kuroko has fallen asleep since he broken down in Kagami's hug. The doctor only comes after 15 minutes passed.
"No way.." Momoi says as she cups her mouth, tears falling again.
"He seems to recognise us but he can't remember," Akashi says.
"He can't say our name. He just remembers half of it." Ogiwara adds.
"Frontal lobe is where memories being stored, as the pressure starts to growing and affecting his nerve, he will eventually forget everything. Even his short memory term will be affected. He may have trouble to remember the current things happen around him if that happen."
"Kurokochii.." Kise cries.
"I-is there's no way to help him?" Kagami asks stutters in the middle.
"We can remove the second tumour by surgery. However, there are possibilities Kuroko will fall into a coma since the other tumour also giving his brain pressure. Any mistake in the surgery will lead to death." The doctor explains.
Their hope crushed again.
Isn't there any other option left? They are desperate. They don't want to be forgotten and they don't want Kuroko to die. This hard decision makes everyone feels hard to breathe, hurt in their heart.
"I am sorry. But I will give him some medicine to help him with the pain." The doctor says as he accepts a needle from a nurse beside him. He moves to Kuroko's IV and injects the needle into the bottle.
"Please doctor.. Please save him." Aomine falls in front of the doctor and grips on the doctor sleeve tightly. Begging as his tears keep on flowing down his face.
The doctor holds Aomine's hand and helps the latter to get up.
"Do you agree if I do the operation?" The doctor looking straight at Aomine's eyes.
Aomine's eyes are trembling. He doesn't know if he will making a right decision.
He closes his eyes.
"P-please" Aomine stutters.
"Wait Aomine. Are you insane? We can't do with all those risks! What if he dies in the middle of surgery? What if he falls into coma?!" Midorima shouts at Aomine as he grips at Aomine's collar.
"But that's the only way!!" Aomine shouts back. It almost turns into fighting and Akashi makes his move to settle down both of them.
"Cool your head, Midorima, Aomine! There is no time to fight each other. We need to discuss first what to do. I know you're sad but the others too. Have you ever think about their feeling? How Kuroko will react if he saw you guys now?!" Akashi is voicing out sternly. It causes both Midorima and Aomine jolt in fear.
Akashi turns to the Doctor as he sees both of them have calmed down. "We will discuss first before we make a decision"
The doctor smile and says "Alright, I will be waiting for your answers." The nurse and the doctor exiting the room.
"What do you guys say?" Akashi starts.
"We are not going to discuss here right? What if Kuroko awake?" Riko asks.
"He has been given medicine. It will keep him asleep for a while."
"I don't agree to let Kuroko having the surgery" Midorima states.
"And I don't agree if we didn't do anything!" Aomine looking at Midorima intensely.
"Stop it, Dai-chan. You're not helping at all." Momoi advises Aomine.
"chee" Aomine turns to other places.
"Where are you going Dai-chan?" Momoi asks worriedly as she saw Aomine is leaving the room.
"Taking a nap. My decision is fixed. I don't need any discussion." Aomine left the room.
"Aominechii.." Kise mumbles.
"It's okay, we are going to continue. So what do you say?" Akashi starts back.
==========
At the rooftop.
"arghhh!" Aomine punches the wall, letting out his anger.
"Oww! That's really hurt!" Aomine screams. His knuckle is bleeding.
He falls to his knees, looking at the blue sky. "But, Tetsu is suffering more than this."
"The blue sky does look like you, Tetsu."
"But.. don't ever think to go there! I ban you too!!" He screams.
"Hahaha! I am sure you're scare with that right, and you don't ever want to reach there right?"
Aomine continues to laugh, but suddenly he feels a water falling on his cheek.
"What is this?"
"Tears? Am I crying? I should be laughing now because Tetsu will never leave us"
"Why, why can't I stop?" Aomine keeps on wiping his tears.
Then he stops laughing but cries more.
"Tetsu! Tetsu! Don't ever leave us!"
"Am..am I doing the right decision?"

Waking Up
The story of Larin the Builder in the aftermath of Awakening This short story is the epilogue of Awakening, the first book of the Chronicles of Mother's Gate series. This epilogue is a great follow-up to the novel, a bonus story that adds extra layers between books without being necessary to the main storyline.Waking Up follows the story of Larin, who is alive but unconscious after her ordeal in the Nine Hells. She awakens in A'lara City a few days later and recuperates under the steadfast care of her repentant friend Jorn.As she reacclimates to her waking state, Larin struggles with her gruesome memories of the Hells and her decision to conceal them from Jorn. This story answers the question, Is Larin all right? with a resounding yes, and some storms on the horizon. It also raises the question, What happened to her down there? and includes an excerpt from the sister story Falling Down, about Larin's ordeal in the Nine Hells. Praise for Waking Up and Falling Down: Loved it. The difference between the two stories is great! The difference between Waking Up and Falling Down is astounding. So much light and love in the first story. You feel safe reading it. Healing. The second, so much darkness, pain and despair. The choice of vocabulary is awesome and makes an impact. And this set of short stories ties the two books together so well.-- Dana V. of Texas ★★★★★
