The COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on people all over the globe. Businesses and shops have been closed, resulting in the loss of employment for many. To lower the risk of contracting such a terminal disease, schools have launched online classes; students can therefore continue studying without the need to go out of their houses. Millions have lost their lives, and their loved ones and friends are left behind to mourn their deaths caused by the illness that continues to plague the world.

This pandemic has not only affected people physically but also emotionally and mentally. The mere thought of being struck by the disease and having to suffer and die alone (given that they would have to distance themselves from others) leads some to experience paranoia, making them aloof and wary of those around them. Some even contemplate suicide due to feelings of hopelessness and despair about the present problem.

However, constantly experiencing such feelings as desolation and apprehension can have a negative impact on our health.

A cheerful heart makes you healthy. But a broken spirit dries you up.

Though it is normal to feel sad at times, we should not allow dejection to prevail. To remain optimistic in the face of adversities is to remain amiable, approachable, and pleasant company.
