《Lose Myself》Chapter Sixty: Squad

Sorry for not posting all this time, here is an update I've pulled together. I have senior year in high school, exams in a couple of weeks and my life is in shambles. My health has also gone to shit. I am still going to finish this, I'm going to put up a brand new book I'm writing on the 18th of August (because it's G-Dragon's birthday and it's special) so please support it ♥️ Thank you, and I love you.

After wiggling my feet into the glossy peach pumps I wrapped my hair around and tied it up, the warm air blew in from the balcony allowing me certainty in that fact that I wouldn't need a coat. Claire came and sat on my bed, I smiled at her "Don't worry I'm already done." She muttered a thanks to god and handed my the purse she'd picked out. I grabbed a pair of sunglasses from the dresser before following her out, the girls were filing out through the door as we descended the steps.
We all took small steps to get to the car quickly, in under five minutes were all seated and taking off. As of recently we've been going out a lot more, we live together and its not fun if that's all we do - live. Last time it was the movies, this time it's a quick luncheon at the new high-end cafe that opened on the waterfront. Quick because I needed to get back to my child.
"I kind of wish it was colder," Abrielle spoke up, "We would've looked so good in coats."
"Same brand but different colours." an amused Claire chimed in. Amber and Joane were busy focused on their phones, their careers along with Abrielle, Sophie and Claire, as Victoria Secret Models were still active. Much to Dominic's dismay.
"We're here!" Clarissa announced. I hadn't realised after knowing her that she was so loveable, she loved travel and she almost always paid more attention to the travelling and arriving than the nonsense banter taking place around her. She'd look out the window like a child in the display of a toy store. I've never been so grateful for my decision to have her move in with us, it took a while for her boyfriend to warm up to Dominic but he was and it was concrete. He realised just how infatuated Dominic was with me, he doesn't even care when they talk or hang out without him around.
The car stopped fully and Joane closed off her phone opening the door, she slid out first then the rest followed. There was a few paparazzi and soon enough there would be many, the little restaurant had my heart jumping with excitement - the prospect of food was always appealing.
We got comfortable at a table on the balcony just peeking out of the restaurant, it had an open landscape that allowed for it and the paparazzi would have a hard time spotting up from where we were. We shared casual conversation about what to order until the waitress came around and we all ordered what someone else at the table would usually have, it was something we did when we visited new places - just to see what the food was like, and try new things. We were served drinks shortly after and sat waiting for our food.

"Hey." I heard it before anyone else but soon our attention was focused on the same person, "How have you guys been?" I frowned a little, unsure of who she was but she was pretty.
"Good." Claire smiled bitterly.
Abrielle shuffled, "Yeah, it's funny seeing you here Grace." Joane made an unladylike sound.
"Yeah I just came to check the new place out." She smiled sweetly though they weren't being so kind.
"It's nice isn't it?" Clarissa piped, I smiled at her humming in a agreement. Grace's face seemed to dull at the prospect of my input, just a second ago she smiled at Clarissa. I raised my brows an inch before looking elsewhere, clearly I wasn't her favourite person.
"It is." she replied.
"Well, see ya." Claire suddenly exclaimed then turning away to dismiss her. I slapped her arm.
"You don't have to leave." I smiled apologetically.
She shook her head at me, "No that's fine." I went to insist but she interrupted me. "It was nice meeting you." She turned on her heel and strutted off. Worst first impression, not ever, but close.
I scoffed, "Meeting me? She didn't even ask my name."
"She hates your guts." Claire casually mentions as the waitress with our first round of plates comes around, my mouth dropped slight open. The waitress left Claire, Abrielle and Joane with their food. The next came with Sophie, Amber, Clarissa's and my own food. I waited until they were no longer listening.
"Excuse me?" I looked at her, she looked at me with a confused expression, "Why doesn't she like me? I don't know her." Claire simply ate her food.
"She dated Dominic."
That's all that needed to be said.
"Thanks Clarissa." I thanked her for speaking up, "That wasn't so hard."
---
I was feeling slightly uncomfortable so I just decided to get up, looking at the time I realised it was around seven am anyway. I flung my legs over the side of the bed and looked around for a minute before getting up. As I made my way to the wardrobe I spotted a little something in the mirror, I didn't sleep with pyjamas on anymore so I was almost stark naked in my lingerie alone.
My brows furrowed together as I stepped closer to the mirror, you've got to be kidding me.
"Oh no, you're staring at the mirror again. Should I just keep my mouth shut?" I heard Dominic's husky voice behind me.
I pushed myself up leaning on one arm, she shook her head turning to look at me and smiled sweetly. I frowned.
"You mind?" she started causing my to raise a brow, "Going out to get me a pregnancy test?"
"No." I didn't have to think, moving my arm so I would fall back on the bed. She groaned and I listened as she walked back to the bed and sat next to me.
She pouted leaning over me so I would see, "Per favore?"
"No." I said rolling over and pretending to go back to sleep. I didn't want to start more crazy media frenzies by going to the pharmacist and picking out a pregnancy test, she wouldn't be doing so either, I'm sure someone in the house is very much capable of grabbing one for us while they're out. She huffed standing, she seemed to consider her options as she stood there. Then she shrugged and went to take her shower.

Amara walked out in jeans and a t-shirt, and started a conversation with me about announcing it. Which it wasn't even confirmed yet but I went along to keep her happy. A loud knock sounded on the door, I groaned pushing my face back into the pillow. Amara shook her head then answered for them to come in.
"You both better be decent." Claire's voice filled the room, I stopped myself from groaning more.
As Claire placed a folder on the table Amara watched, "Guess what?" Claire only glanced before answering back with a 'what'. Amara almost bounced, "We're pregnant!"
I cringed. She turned to me and pulled a funny face, "You were right, it doesn't sound good." She smiled awkwardly at Claire then her arms shot up, "I'm pregnant!" She sang.
"Oh my god that's amazing!" Claire squealed coming to give Amara a hug, "Gross, but amazing." She muttered before stepping out of the embrace. "That's like... more than one kid."
Amara snorted, "Yeah it is."
"Do you know how many weeks?"
"No," she laughed then she pulled the 'I'm gonna ask something of you and you're gonna say yes' face and opened her mouth to speak but was beat to the punch.
"Do you need a test?" Claire's posture slumped as the idea of getting a pregnancy test hit her, but I didn't want people talking about my sister either.
"Yes please." Amara swung on her feet like a six-year-old asking for something they knew they weren't allowed.
"We'll just get Grace to buy it." she announced decidedly, Dominic shuffled behind me before I heard his voice.
"What does Grace have to do with this?"
"She's desperate enough."
"Claire, that's not very nice." I mumbled before stuffing my face back on the bed.
Amara frowned, "Desperate for what?"
She scoffed, "She wants to be in our group so badly, you'll see."
"That isn't nice." Amara reprimanded in agreeance, Claire pulled a funny face before turning to exit the room. I ran back to the bed quickly and pecked Dominic's forehead before following out the door, he'd take too long to get up and I was eager to get my day started.
--
We sat awkwardly on the couch of Grace's home while she fetched some drinks, everyone around me was pretty calm and I was dreading asking someone who clearly did not like me - to do me a favour.
Grace sat down with an enthusiastic 'cold drinks for all' and a smiled aimed at Claire. I had to avert my eyes because her aura was definitely not for me and witnessing it was just uncomfortable. She moved each cup to a person.
Clarissa sat up straight having been slouching over the end of the sofa and took a sip, "These are really good grace." She commented before returning her attention to her phone. Her comment had everyone else perking up and the phones were put away, aside from Clarissa.
Grace's couch was one of the long, L-shaped pieces and so everyone fit comfortably. Grace occupied a love seat and sat with her hands in her lap and her brows raised as Claire began speaking.
"Grace, we're considering having you join the squad." Claire said boringly, "You may not be a model but neither is Amara, we realised it just might not be fair."
"You're kidding." She beamed, all smiles and rainbows.
"No," Claire gave her an unfriendly look, "The girls agree with me."
"Wow, thank you."
Abrielle smacked her lips after taking a sip, "There is one condition."
"Buy a pregnancy test." Claire announced without shame, "We can't have the paparazzi causing us problems so none of us can very well do it, we need someone else to run the errand."
"Just this once." added Joane.
Grace had a momentarily displeased expression stain her face before it was replaced by sunshine and rainbows, "Who is it for?"
"Me." I stopped looking around the room mindlessly, I was actually admiring her decor. "I like your decor."
"Thank you." she sounded slightly venomous. I smiled at her regardless.
"If you won't have this," Claire let out a breath and leaning over everyone to grab my untouched beverage, "I will."
"Oh! But what if she wants it?" Grace intervened, "It's really nice, try it."
I shook my head, "Is it alcoholic?"
She shook her head slowly, indicating yes.
I pressed my lips, "I'm a pregnant person, Grace."
"Yeah, Grace." Claire smiled bringing herself to sit upright once more.
"Let me take a sip first." Clarissa spoke up, startling Grace who seemed ten times more alert than a second earlier. Claire groaned passing the cup down to the other end of the couch, I skipped handing it to Sophie and let Clarissa's eager hand take hold.
I was surprised when she brought it to her nose. "Yuck." she muttered turning and spilling it on the carpet.
"Excuse you!" Claire stood abruptly.
"It's poisoned." Clarissa stated simply, turning her attention to her phone once more.
Abrielle dusted off her skirt as she stood, "Well, looks like thats the end of our talk. We'll just hire someone to do it."
"Too bad, Grace." Sophie smiled.
We filed out her home and into the waiting cars outside, leaving Grace dumbfounded. I may not have died but she could've killed my baby! Luckily Dominic had gotten the both of us alcohol-free since Carmyne was born. Who knew it would save lives?
"Sometimes I forget how everyone hates you." Claire laughed.
"I used to bond with her over it." Clarissa admitted.

Reinventing the Struggle
The (sort of) original working title for this was "Reincarnated into a neo-feudal world of mecha knights, I will reinvent the panzerkampfwagen and mess up the social political order!" or something along those lines. And honestly that's a good enough synopsis given the nature of isekai titles. This story is unapologetic trash but at least it's the least cringe stuff I have written so far, so here it goes.
