Today was the last day with the kids. A month had already passed so quickly I didn't even realise until Marissa thanked God for this. I was confused about what she was so happy for but then realised by her next sentence.
"Laila. As much as I love the kids, I'm so happy I'll be helping adults. Dios this months been a rollercoaster" you can say that again. I thought.
I rolled my eyes at Marissas' statement. It was easier to care for kids than adults I'm sure. Or maybe that wasn't the case at all.
It was the final day and as usual, after two weeks, the student workers were called to the staff room. There we met Doctor Miguel. He looked equally as clean and pristine as the hospital itself.
"Hola aspiring doctores. How are you all?" A series of mumbles broke out in the room.
"I am here to announce your completion of the two months. Congratulations for getting through it. Now for the next two months you will switch your routines. Those who worked in the kids wards will now move to the adult's wards. Those who did the adult's wards will do the elderly wards and those who did the elderly wards will work at the kids wards. I hope that makes sense, otherwise your helpful senior doctors will guide you through your tasks and answer any remaining questions. Gracias for your time" he said warmly, his wrinkles becoming more pronounced with his smile.
The fellow co-workers around me mumbled and gossiped about the upcoming role we were assigned to on Monday. In sha allah everything goes well.
Me and Marissa went to our section of the room and put the our coats on. We made sure to thank the paediatricians who were instructing us for the last two months.

We soon exited the building. Like Marissa insisted last week, she would be dropping me off home this entire week.
As soon as we sat down, warm air brushed my face. I'm sure Marissa rapidly reached for the heating system. She blew out a breath of relief before starting the engine and driving off.
"I'm sorry Laila, but is it okay if I get some coffee first before dropping you off?"
"Of course. I don't mind" I nodded. She smiled at me gratefully, before parking in the car park.
"Do you need any dinero?" I asked just In case. She raised her eyebrows at my Spanish, grinning.
"Is mi hermosa speaking español? And no thank you for asking" she exclaimed. I let out a chuckle, pride taking over my heart at my ability to integrate spanish phrases into english. Although it's not much, I still am very happy.
"Okay" I hummed.
"Do you want anything. Are you sure?" I shook my head again.
"I want to sleep tonight girl, I'm good thank you" I retorted. She nodded before leaving for the shops. I hummed along to the english songs on the radio, looking around at the scary car park. There were not that many cars parked around, and neither was there any sign of humans.
I quietly read Ayat-ul-Kursi slowly, making sure my pronunciation was spot on. I blew over my hands and myself before on Marissa mentally.
I felt a lot more safer now. In my head I imagined angels looking over me, standing around me as my shields.
From the corner of my eyes I could distinctly make out a tall man leaning against the coffee shop. He seemed to be camouflaged into the dark. The only thing showing was his hand which was occasionally going towards his mouth.

I squinted my eyes, encaptured by what the man must be doing with his hand on his mouth. The cafe shop light turned on as Marissa exited. Only then did I see smoke wafting into the air.
My eyes widened in shock at the familiar face. The demon seems to be following me everywhere. What was he doing here. I rubbed my eyes making sure I wasn't seeing things and of course I wasn't. My luck wasn't that good.
I returned my gaze to Marissa as she entered the car with a red face. The cold seemed to have attacked her on her short walk. I tried to desperately force my mind away from the demon.
"Dios why does it have to be so cold" Marissa exclaimed heating her hands in front of the heater. I shrugged. Curiosity got the best of me so I looked towards where the demon was stood. Sure enough he was still there, looking straight at me. I averted my eyes around the area, hoping he didn't see me.
Who was I kidding. He did see me.
I glanced briefly at him, as he concealed his smirk behind his puff. I scrunched my nose, the memories of what occured in my room coming back to me. Marissa reversed the car, exiting the car park. For the last time I looked at the demon to see him waving at me. Someone else exited the shop, the light illuminating his smirk.
He looked devious. His smirk was mocking me, reminding me of the Mafias everlasting presence.
I shivered in fear and partly from the cold. My eyes didn't leave him once. I felt as if I was hypnotised.
I had a sound conscious towards what I was doing and thinking but I just couldn't control any of it. Did the demon have special powers? Could he control my actions?
These questions amongst many others remained unanswered. My mind was wondering everywhere, but thankfully Marissa began a conversation about the upcoming shift that we will have with the adult patients.
Happy for the distraction, we made light talk here and there, only talking if it was necessary. Adeles' singing rang out through the car, making me feel even more depressed and in my feels.
We soon arrived at my house. I thanked Marissa before exiting the car. She smiled and waved at me.
I unlocked the door and stepped inside. The house was quiet and dark. I didn't have much of an appetite so I went upstairs instead. Finally I can rest. After completing my night time routine, however tiring it was, I jumped into bed and wondered off into dreamland.

Divine Intervention Online
Vin is an ex-slave who wields sacred knowledge to demand freedom for his people. Seth is a reluctant player stuck in a game that is set to last 200 more years. When their paths converge, even the false gods will take notice. * * * Hello and thank you for giving Divine Intervention Online a chance. This is not my first book (that honor belongs to The Flock by Chris Sauter- available on Amazon). This is hopefully going to become my second book, the first of a planned LITRPG trilogy. This is a labor of love, dedicated to my absolute obsession with the LITRPG genre that has held me in its grasp for over 3 years. There will be dark situations that perhaps only adults should read including: slavery, violence and the results of war. There will be no harems, little profanity, but possibly some triggers for people who don’t like torture, violence, and other dark stuff.
