《The Nerd and The Frog》Walking On a Dream

Holy shit, holy shit, HOLY. SHIT. I'm getting a ride home from Daniel Lang. I'm gonna be IN. HIS. CAR.
Alan contained his excitement as he followed Daniel to the student parking lot. While on the outside, he looked perfectly calm and collected. On the inside, however, he was screaming in pure joy and amazement. Never in his life would he think to find himself in a car with his crush of 5 years. It's even better that the car Daniel drove was on an continuous list among students called, "The Top 5 Best Cars Driven by Students In The Entire School." As to be expected when your high school was in a fairly well-to-do suburb.
"My car is over there." Daniel pointed towards it, as he pressed the key fob to unlock the doors, the headlights blinking twice.
Alan, internally giddy, stopped to stare at the car in amazement.
Daniel looked over at him, a puzzled look crossing his face. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing... I'm just... admiring your car." Alan said with a child-like smile on his face.
"Oh, alright... do you like cars?" Daniel asked, curious.
"A bit." Alan stated, walking around and observing the car slowly as he did so.
"It's a rather old Lexus, though..." Daniel stated, leaning against the driver-side door as he watched Alan quietly observing his car.
"It's a 2012 Lexus IS C, collapsable hardtop with 2.5 L V6 engine. It can get up to 204 to 306 horsepower and possibly up to 30 miles per gallon." Alan rattled off with ease as he rounded the back of the car. "And it's a 250c, meaning it's either a manual or automatic. Can you drive a stick shift?" Alan asked, looking over at Daniel with an excited smile on his face.
"Yeah, my dad taught me. He said if I wanted to eventually own the car, I had to learn to drive it manually." Daniel admitted with a smile of his own.
"That's so fucking awesome..." Alan stated openly, his eyes going back to the car. "And it's black. I'm guessing the interior matches?"
"It does." Daniel confirmed, as he opened the driver-side door, Alan coming up to peek inside not too long after.
"So smooth looking..." Alan stated in awe, peeking his head inside. "It looks like it's practically new!"
"My dad barely drove it. It only has 45,000 miles on it." Daniel stated, somewhat fascinated at Alan's knowledge of cars.
"That's fucking insane! It's like he only drove it to the grocery store and back!" Alan exclaimed, looking at Daniel in shock.
"He travels a lot for work, so he only used it when necessary. The grocery store being one of these necessary trips." Daniel joked, a grin on his face.
"You're lucky to be given such a car!" Alan spoke excitedly, as he stopped in front of the car once again.
"I've never seen someone so into my car before." Daniel admitted, a laugh following after.
"Your car is ranked 3rd in the entire school. How can anyone NOT be obsessed with it?" Alan replied in surprise.

"3rd? What's this ranking?" Daniel asked, confused. "And before you explain it, you want to get in the car?" Daniel followed up with a smirk, seeing Alan open his mouth to speak, but quickly close it at his comment.
"Oh, yeah, sorry." Alan responded with a bashful smile. He quickly made his way towards the passenger side door, opening it and settling down inside the seat, placing his backpack onto the floor in front of him before putting on his seatbelt. The interior of the car was indeed black, the seats a comfortable black leather, with a navigation system and CD player. Granted, Daniel didn't use the CD player, as there was an auxiliary cord for his smartphone resting in the center console.
Once inside, Daniel placed his seatbelt on and pressed the button to start the car, it instantly came to life. He connected his own phone to the cord, then calmly handed Alan his phone.
"Feel free to select any music you want." Daniel spoke politely, his right hand grabbing the gear shift carefully once Alan took his phone. He shifted gears with ease as he drove out of the parking spot towards the exit.
Alan was a bit too distracted to select a song as he watched Daniel switch gears with just a smooth motion of his hand. This is the sexiest thing I have ever seen... except for seeing him somewhat naked... that was sexy too. Alan thought, a rather pleased smile on his face.
Not wanting to seem like a creeper, Alan turned his attention to the phone resting in his hand, unlocked with the music app open for his selection. It was always strange going through someone else's song list, especially if their taste in music was not the same. Daniel definitely had more popular songs and artists in his playlist, which Alan expected to see. However, there was one song that caught his attention and he couldn't help but push play on it.
"Empire of the Sun?" Alan spoke out loud as he looked at the screen, hearing the song "Walking on a Dream" being emitted over the speakers.
Daniel, switching into 3rd gear as he drove down the street, glanced over at the question. "What? The song is good..." Daniel answered honestly with a grin.
"I'm just... surprised..." Alan admitted with a shrug as he placed the phone onto a mount on the dash.
"You seem to be surprised at everything with me for some reason." Daniel spoke, his attention back on the road. "Where am I heading, by the way?"
"Oh, I'll put it into your GPS." Alan stated, grabbing the phone once again, typing his address into the mapping system. "And... I don't know. I had expectations that are just being broken today."
"Expectations? Of what, exactly?" Daniel asked, curious.
"Well... of you, really." Alan quietly admitted, placing the phone back onto the mount once again as the AI spoke directions through the speakers, occasionally interrupting the song.
"I'm... not understanding." Daniel admitted, downshifting as they neared a red stoplight.

"Besides the frog thing..." Alan stated with a smirk, only to see Daniel roll his eyes. "I mean, you're pretty cool, Daniel. You're popular, you're really good at soccer, you dress awesomely, you're.... attractive..." Alan caught himself, before the words "totally fuckable" slipped out his mouth. "Let's put it this way: You fit the very definition of a well-to-do popular, preppy, rich kid."
"Ok... I wouldn't call myself that." Daniel replied, a frown on his face.
"You drive a damn Lexus." Alan rebutted, only to hear Daniel laugh.
"Fair point. But, it's something that I had to work to get. My dad didn't just hand it to me. I had to prove to him that I could drive it." Daniel calmly admitted, shifting gears again once the light changed green. "My grades are consistently good. Granted, I'm not top ranking like yourself, they are well above a 3.5 GPA. I also had to work 2 full summers to save up enough money to give to my dad to put towards the final payments of the car. I dropped $5,000 on this car before he gave it to me. Otherwise, my older brother in college was going to get it."
"You work?" Alan asked, baffled.
"The hell, Alan? I'm not a rich brat in the slightest. I'm not sure where you get this idea from." Daniel stated, surprised. "I mean, you know a lot about cars. I wouldn't think an academic like yourself would give two shits about cars."
"You mean 'nerd.' It's cool to say it." Alan quickly retorted.
"Ok, fine. Nerd. But, I don't think you fit the bill." Daniel admitted with a shrug.
"Why do you say that? I mean, look at how I'm dressed, for fucks sake." Alan stated with a laugh, only to see Daniel chuckle.
"If you put on some clothes that actually fit you better, you'd look like a totally different person." Daniel stated with a smile.
"You think so?" Alan asked, uncertain.
"Yeah, really. You're slim, sure. But, if you worked with that slim build and put on some fitted jeans, with a fitted shirt, it would really make you look cleaner." Daniel commented as he rounded a curve with ease. "You also have a really nice face and eyes."
Alan looked over at Daniel with that last statement, expecting to see a joking smile or facial expression. Instead, he saw a rather calm and sincere expression. A small smile couldn't help but to crawl on his face, having to look away from Daniel entirely. GOD, I want to kiss him so bad.
"Thanks..." was all Alan could find the composure to say.
"It's true. It would be even better if you lost the glasses." Daniel added, as he turned onto a neighborhood street.
"Well, that's not gonna happen." Alan quickly inserted with a wave of his hand in defense. "I'm fucking blind without them."
"Ever heard of contacts?" Daniel teased.
"I look weird without glasses." Alan stated, shaking his head in protest. "I've been told that several times. My house is the one on the right at the end of the block." Alan added, pointing towards it.
Following instructions, Daniel carefully pulled up towards the house, parking on the street directly in front. He put the car in park, before speaking again. "Take them off."
Alan, not expecting that at all, looked over at Daniel in shock. "Take... what off?" he asked, confused.
"Your glasses. Take them off." Daniel repeated, calmly.
I thought he meant my clothes, because I totally would've. Alan spoke internally, yet the idea of removing his glasses was very unsettling. "Why?"
"I want to see what you look like without them. Other people could be assholes, so let me judge for myself." Daniel answered with a smile.
"So, my best friend, younger sister and grandmother are assholes. Awesome." Alan replied with a smirk. "Granted, I've had some other people tell me the same thing..."
"Come on, Alan. Quit making excuses and let me see." Daniel spoke with a playful sigh. He placed his right elbow on the center console, leaning his chin into the palm of his right hand while he waited for Alan to remove his black framed spectacles from his face.
Alan, not really sure if he liked the attention he was getting, gave a frustrated grunt before reaching up and carefully removing his glasses from his face. Granted, once he did, he couldn't see anything in front of him. "See? I look weird."
There was complete silence for several seconds, before anyone spoke again.
"Shit...." Daniel spoke, a sound of shock in his voice.
"Gee, thanks asshole." Alan spoke sarcastically, beginning to put his glasses back on. Before he could get them fully onto his face, he felt Daniel grab his hand quickly.
"No... wait... I'm sorry. I'm just... really speechless." Daniel replied, hesitantly.
"Ok, I get it. I look like shit." Alan said with a roll of his eyes.
"NO, you DON'T." Daniel spoke again, with much more enthusiasm.
Alan, very blind and surprised, frowned in confusion. "What... do you mean?"
"You're fucking hot."

In the next couple of chapters, things are going to get very interesting for Alan and Daniel. I'm also going to include Nicolette and her sass more, as well as another character I only mentioned in the very first chapter: Thomas Thaxton. Talk about an entertaining character...
Also, help me out! If you have any visuals of how these characters look, send me a link to a photo! I'm having the worst time finding suitable pictures of Daniel and Nicolette.
