"Pleaseeee?" Allison whined beside Kristin.
"Allison," Kristin sighed, dragging out her name, "Please don't do this to me."
"To you? Come on Kristin, I want to meet your mate!"
Kristin groaned, leaning back into the passenger seat.
"Take a left up here," she told Allison, who was driving.
"Sooo, that's a yes?" Allison asked, hopeful.
"Logan?" Kristin asked, turning towards the backseat, "A little help here?"
Logan chuckled, "Actually Kristin, I want to meet him too."
"What?" she asked frantically, "Why?"
Logan shrugged, "I have to approve," he said teasingly.
"Me too!" Allison said, excitedly.
"You guys seriously want to meet Ryder?" Kristin asked, giving them one more chance to back out.
"Yes!" they both said in unison.
Kristin sighed, "Fine, but I'm warning you, he's a jerk."
"Okay Kristin," Allison said in a voice that meant 'stop over exaggerating, he's your mate.'
"Last chance to back out," Kristin said as Allison parked the car in front of the house.
"Nope!" Allison said cheerfully, hopping out of the car.
Kristin led them to the kitchen, not seeing Ryder anywhere downstairs.
"This is nice," she heard Allison say, looking around.
Logan took a seat on one of the bar stools.
"So, where is he?"
Kristin took a deep breath.
"Ryder!"
"What?" a familiar voice snapped.
"Come here!"
"No!"
"Ryder!" Kristin said, slightly whining. She wanted to get this over as quick as possible.
Allison and Logan gave her a weird look.
"What do you want?" Ryder snapped, coming down the stairs.
Kristin rolled her eyes, "See, I told you he's a jerk."
"You love it," Ryder smirked, walking into the kitchen.
"No, I don't."
"Don't lie, babe."
"Okay, let's get this over with, Allison, Ryder. Ryder, Allison." Kristin quickly motioned between them.
Allison grinned at Ryder and then looked at Kristin.
"You were right."
"Logan, Ryder. Ryder, Logan," Kristin continued, trying to hide her blush from Allison's comment.
Ryder glanced over Logan, as if sizing him up, before he turned to Kristin.
He then gave her a pointed look that said 'make your friends leave.'
"What?" she snapped, daring Ryder to speak up.
Nothing,sweetheart," he said sarcastically.
"Aww," Kristin heard Allison from behind her, "You guys are adorable!"

Ryder raised a brow at Kristin, giving her a look that said 'Are you sure your friend isn't mental?'
"It looks like they want to kill each other to me," Logan muttered.
"Logan!" Allison said as Kristin chuckled.
She was surprised to see Ryder glaring at Logan when she glanced at him.
He noticed Kristin watching him, raising her brow, and he stopped.
Kristin showed her friends to the door before they left.
"You're so lucky," Allison smiled as she gave Kristin a hug.
"Why?" Kristin asked sarcastically.
"He's alright," Logan shrugged, giving her a hug.
"Just alright?" Kristin asked, curiously. She hadn't missed the look he had given Ryder before leaving.
Logan remained quiet, shrugging again.
"I think he's worse than 'alright,'" Kristin finished, making Logan smile.
"You two be good," he teased, returning to his old self as he ruffled her hair.
"Right back at you," she replied, waving as Allison and Logan left.
Kristin walked back into the kitchen, smiling to herself.
Her friends were definitely special.
"Who was that?" Ryder spoke up from the bar stool he was sitting on.
"My friends, I already told you."
"Both of them?"
"Yes," Kristin answered, confused.
"Hmm..."
"What, do you not like them?" she asked, feeling defensive.
He shrugged, "What's with the guy?"
"Logan?"
"Yeah, who's he."
"Logan. My friend."
"Does he know that?" Ryder asked, raising his eyebrows at her.
"Does he know what?"
"That you are just friends?"
"Why are you like this?"
"I'm just saying," Ryder shrugged, "He seemed pretty protective over you."
"Probably because Logan and I have been friends for over ten years and he wants to make sure my 'mate' isn't a jerk."
"Did he say I was a jerk?" he asked, his eyes growing darker.
"No, but I told him you were," Kristin replied, watching him clench his jaw.
The silence drug on, and Kristin continued to have a stare down with Ryder.
"You're jealous?" Kristin raised a brow.
He scoffed, "Why would I be?"
"Mhmm."
"I'm not."
"Okay, then I can tell you he's actually my boyfriend?"
"No he's not," he narrowed his eyes at her.
Kristin remained silent, a smirk on her face.
"You're lying," Ryder snapped, although he seemed to be deciding if she was or not.

The only thing that ruined it, was that she couldn't hold in her laugh.
"Whatever," he rolled his eyes, getting up.
"Where are you going?" Kristin asked as she watched Ryder stomp to the back door.
"Outside," he grumpily replied.
"We have to leave in two hours to meet my parents, remember?"
"I know."
Kristin shook her head at him, watching as he walked towards the river.
Right before he reached it, he jumped into the air, a huge black wolf appearing, and ran into the trees.
Kristin wasn't necessarily surprised at this, since she saw her father and brother (along with the rest of the pack) shift all the time. There was just something about seeing Ryder's wolf for the first time, that made her interested.
She tore her gaze from the woods and headed upstairs to shower and get ready for later.
Her parents had called yesterday, inviting her and Ryder to dinner with them.
Kristin was dressed in a simple black dress, and her hair was straightened in less than an hour.
She was just finishing up her makeup when a knock on her bedroom door made her jump.
"What?" she yelled, slightly annoyed at Ryder from earlier.
The door opened, revealing a sheepishly smiling Jess.
"Oh, I thought you were Ryder," Kristin replied, a light blush covering her face.
Jess chuckled, "Its okay. I came over to help you get ready."
"How did you know..." Kristin asked, confused as to how Jess knew about dinner.
"Ryder told me," she said, walking over to where Kristin was sitting at her vanity.
"You look beautiful, by the way," Jess smiled.
"Thanks," she returned the smile, "Ryder told you to help me get ready?" she asked, raising a brow.
"Well, I heard about the whole marking problem you guys had."
"You did?"
"Yeah, Gabriel and I went through sort of the same thing," she shrugged.
"You did?" Kristin asked, not sure where this was going.
"Yep, when I first met Gabriel, he wanted to mark me right then and there. I didn't let him though."
"Oh."
"I understand if you're not ready for Ryder to mark you yet," she said, sitting in a chair beside Kristin, "That's why I'm here to help you fake it so your parents don't get suspicious."
"Wait, what?"
Jess dug through her over-sized bag on her shoulder, pulling out a huge makeup bag.
"We're going to make it look like you have a mark."
Kristin widened her eyes at Jess' suggestion. She really didn't want to go through with this. Yet, if she didn't, her parents would become suspicious of her and Ryder.
And since she was a terrible liar, she didn't want to take the chance in case her parents questioned her about not being marked still.
"Okay, let's do this," Kristin nodded.
Half an hour later, Jess had put away her makeup, and let Kristin examine her work in the mirror.
"Whoa," Kristin said, poking her neck.
Jess stood beside her and pulled her hair away from her neck, revealing her actual mark.
They actually looked pretty close.
"I made yours a little more intense since it's newer," Jess said, smiling at her work.
"Well, lets hope this works," Kristin replied, letting her hair fall over her shoulder to cover up most of the mark.
"Actually," Jess said, holding up her finger, "There's one last thing you have to do to make it seem real."
"What?" Kristin asked, confused, as Ryder came strolling into her room.
He leaned against the doorway, and Kristin tried not to stare at him.
He had showered and put on suit pants since she'd last seen him.
He wasn't wearing a shirt, however, which didn't shock her as much as it should have.
"Like what you see?" Ryder smirked at her.
Dang. She had stared at him for too long.
She rolled her eyes as Jess chuckled.
"Okay, what's the last thing we have to do?" Kristin asked Jess, pointing to her 'mark'.
"Actually, it's what you two have to do," she replied, pointing at Kristin and Ryder.
"What?" Kristin asked, frowning.
"Well, you know how wolves can smell scents on a person? When a wolf marks his mate, she automatically has his scent all over her."
"Oh, right," Kristin muttered, forgetting about this tiny bit of information since she, her human self, couldn't smell other people on someone.
"When Gabriel and I faked my mark, he had to get his scent on me so it'd seem real."
"Fine," Kristin scowled, trying to stay calm as a smirking-- and shirtless-- Ryder closed the distance between them.

Re-Ordaining of the Chosen
Alea cheerfully hummed as she descended the steps, brimming in upbeat while her colleague, Quarren Leos, shot her a look of skepticism. “So… were you right about him?” he asked doubtfully. She came to a stop for a moment, her humming falling silent before she shook her head, waving her medium length light-blonde hair from side to side. “I was wrong about him.” Quarren raised an eyebrow in confusion at the convoluted response.“But you seem quite happy?” he asked again. “Because I am. But I was wrong about him. He was… so much more than I ever expected.” Alea looked at the sky overhead with a smile. “That boy… no, that man, is amazing. I firmly believe he will come to stand on top of any adversary he faces. He is destined. He is Chosen.” Quarren snorted as he stepped past, shaking his head. “Okay. Each to their own beliefs but you’re sounding like a nutjob. That skinny twig? Everyone calls him a cripple, you know,” he shook his head.“Rumours are always false, Leos,” Alea answered with a disapproving shake of her head. “You wouldn’t know. He is so, so much more.” “I saw him with my own two eyes. I didn’t see anything redeeming,” Quarren rebutted. “Well…” Alea chuckled. “You haven’t seen what I’ve seen.” In the year 917 of the Imperial Calendar, the Great War had just ended between dozens of nations. The excitement was short-lived however when the Aerianne Princess proved to be a dragoness among men but the Kanarian Prince was worse than even mediocre.
