《Since You Been Gone》Chapter 37

Christina pulls up to the airport and points at the rental car place. I recognize the car she's pointing at almost immediately. "He's already turned in his rental car! We have to hurry," she says. I shake my head and get out of the car. She pulls me into the airport and we quickly find the flights heading north.
"We'll never catch him," I tell her. She rolls her eyes and continues to pull me towards him. A crowd of people are moving in this direction, but when the Starbucks and McDonald's are in this direction it really isn't a big surprise.
Once we make it past the people who need their coffee and hamburgers, the traffic clears out some. It's easier for us as we run towards the flight. We have to stop at security, though. By that point, we still have found Tobias. I put my hands on my hips and take a deep breath.
"What did I tell you?" I ask Christina. She sighs and shakes her head. She puts her hands behind her head and turns around to face the McDonald's line.
"This is impossible. There is no way he is already through security. He is never that early," Christina says. I shrug and turn around to start walking away.
"Christina, we both knew this was-" a start. I stop when I hearing someone yelling.
"Tris?" the voice yells from behind me. I turn back around when I hear my name. Christina does the same. "What are you two doing here? I told you all not to come," Tobias says as he gets out of the line going through security. He walks up to us.
"Tris here has something to tell you," Christina says, patting my back.
"You do?" Tobias asks, turning to look at just me. I look over at Christina and force myself to resist the urge to smack her across the face. She smirks at me.

"Yeah, Christina, I do?" I ask. She nods and points over at the line for Starbucks.
"Well, I'll let you two talk. I'm going to go get me a latte," she says as she walks away. I mentally curse her for leaving me here alone.
"So, um, what did you want to talk about?" Tobias asks. I refuse to look at his face. Instead I stare at the wall behind him.
"Um, it was nothing. Christina shouldn't have drug me here," I say. He arches his eyebrows.
"Well, why did she drag you here?" he asks. I shake my head.
"It's not important," I tell him, staring at the floor between. He puts his hand on my chin and raises my head so I can look at him.
"Tris, it has to be important. Just tell me," he says. I stare into his eyes, knowing that I can't tell him why Christina brought me here. Instead, I just show him. I stand on my tiptoes and place my lips on his.
At first, he doesn't do anything. I can tell how shocked he is by my sudden act of PDA. Then, he kisses me back with a firey passion, one that I haven't felt in a long time. In fact, I haven't felt anything like this kiss at all for a really long time.
"What was that?" he asks when we finally pull apart. I smile up at him.
"That was my goodbye present," I tell him. He smiles back at me.
"I think I like that present. . . But, I think I deserve a little more," he says. He smirks at me as he leans down to kiss me again. When we pull apart again, he nods towards the security line that has shortened a little. "I guess I should go on through," he says. I nod and step away from him a little.

"Yeah, um, are you coming around any this summer? I heard from a little birdy that there's a great pool near my house with cheap memberships," I tell him. He smiles and nods.
"I'll meet you at the diving board," he promises before walking back to the security line. I sigh and watch as he waits for them to scan him and his stuff. Finally, Christina comes back over with two coffees in her hand. I take one from her and take a small sip.
"So, did you say all that you need to say?" she asks. I smile and nod.
"I did," I tell her.
