Nagisa's pov

As we draw near to where Sabro and The master of the valley were fighting

The master was about to deal the killing blow while Sabro was about to do an attempt on the huge bird as well

Only for them to stop dead on their tracks by us

"What are thou doing?!" He shouted

"Saving your sorry butt!" I said as I looked at the chick flying in front of the huge bird

"Could it be the child of the master of this valley?" Sabnock said

"So this is the master of the valley?... Master-san, your child's leg is already alright! You were irritated that your child's leg was hurt, right?" I said as I felt a sweat drop from my face

The master let out a weird noise as it looked at us with suspicion

"We won't do anything, right?" I asked looking at Sabro looking like he was about to swing

"Huh!?"

"Trust me. You want to become the demon king, right?"

He looked at me for awhile then let go of the sword

As we raised our hands in the air to show no signs of hostility

The two of us looked at the two birds with anxiousness

Only for us not long after looking at them in shock as they bowed their heads

I couldn't help but bow to them as well while I felt Sabnock looking at me in wonder

As we all got that disaster averted, the master gave us a ride to the finish line

As we drew near to our destination, I started waiving my arms to show that it was us then I heard shouting

I squinted my eyes to see Clara and Azz waiving at us, shouting "Nagisa-sama!" "Nagisa-chi!"

While the others were looking at us in astonishment and Kalego-sensei looking at us in shock

As we landed near the finish line, the other gathered around us as we got off the master

We were bombarded with questions but not long after, I could feel wind blowing from behind me

As I turned around, I saw that the master was already airborn, flying away back to the valley

"Thank you and take care!" I shouted waiving to them goodbye

-Timeskip-

Sabnock and I were put in a small fenced area with signs hanging on our necks

Mine says that "I'm reflecting"

While Kalego-sensei was explaining how the ranking system works and how we are to be set as examples to be laughed and thrown pebbles at

"How wicked!" Sabnock shouted but Kalego-sensei just smiled a smug grin

"Alright! Line up into a line and receive your rank."

"Tsk! How humiliating."

"It's fine. Atleast were still alive and not expelled yet." I said to quell his frustration

Sabnock then turned to me and bowed his head "Nagisa... This incident today, I wouldn't have been able to handle it on my own. I thank you for the help. I apologize for my early rudeness, thou art a man... And now my rival, shall we fight for the thrown of the demon king?" He said with a thumbs up

"I really don't plan to become the demon king, right now though." I said with a sweat drop

"Hey! Trash over there, hurry up and get your rank!"

As we were talking, everyone got their ranks except for us yet

Sabnock went first and got Rank 2(Bet) then went to the others

I looked at the rank owl then to the others, talking amongst each other about their ranks

"Nagisa!" I heard Kalego-sensei call out my name

As I went in front of the rank owl, hearing talks about me from my classmates

I looked at the owl and thought 'What would my rank be?...'

Not wasting anytime, just went in there looking for something

"Maybe he'll pull out something weird?" Jazz said

"Like sensei familiar?" Lied said

Only for the two to be scolded by Kalego-sensei

"Silence! The Rank Owl is strict and just. Nothing will faze it no matter what happens. It never cried even once in these past few hundred years-"

A loud shriek cut off Kalego-sensei

He looked at shock and said "It cried?!"

As the owl was trying to escape with my hand in it's pouch

"Eh! W-wait!" I said as the owl started to fly away

"I haven't drawn my badge yet! Come back!" I shouted

I turned around to ask what to do, only to be met with curios looks

I looked to where they were looking at and saw a ring on my finger emitting a dangerous aura

I tried to pull it out but couldn't for some reason, I tried to ask for help only for my teacher and classmates to take a few steps back

"Uhm?"

"Because, that's..." Ix said pointing at something

I looked to my side and saw a shadowy figire on my shoulder

(The same thing happened in the anime)

As Kalego-sensei raised his finger, my instincts started shouting at me, going nuts

'His gonna kill me!' I thought as I was about to dodge it, only for Grandpa to stop it with his finger

"Hey, no can do."

"Grandpa!"

"Chairman!"

Grandpa started piffi g up his cheeks saying that he was about to blow off my arm off

Causing Azz to get angry while still laying on the ground

Just then the figure of the ring started to went after my Grandpa

"Look out!" I shouted

Only for Grandpa to feed the ring, his magic causing it to get full and returning back to the ring

He then started to explain that my ring was the ring of gluttony

Saying that it was rare and all... As well as whispering to my ear "You are half human and demon, with that alone that makes you rare. The ring eats your excess mahic but since you feel fine, maybe it thinks that you have no magic at all, since you are half human. At least that's what I like to think."

After that whole ordeal, we all took a class photo commemorating is obtaining our ranks

-Next day-

Our ranks were posted on the bulletin board, I saw mine was Rank 1(Alef)

Azz got mad about my rank while Clara just flexxed that she has a higher rank than me

As we talked while walking to our classroom about how I got in the 1st page of the school papers again
