《Sunlight Through The Curtains》We Have To

Bucky stood and picked up the young girl. He turned to his teammates, "Let's go."
The team nodded with soft smiles on their faces and unblocked the door. Andrew, Meg, and Louie decided to lead the group, ICERs held in front of them. Bucky, Marie, and Sam stood in the middle with Danny and John at the back.
Andrew went out first, peeking around the doorway. "Clear." He said before heading down the hallway.
They made it back to the lab to find that the scientists we no where to be found. "Alright," Danny said wearily, "subjects regain consciousness after at least 20 minutes... good to know."
"Where do you think they went?" Asked John.
"Hopefully they ran away into the forest never to be seen again?" Said Sam, as the group walked quickly yet cautiously to the elevator.
Once they arrived to the lift Meg spoke, "John, you come with Andrew and I to scout the main floor. If it's clear, you'll go back down to get the rest of the team."
Plan in place Andrew, Meg, and John headed up the rickety elevator, exiting with ICERs ready.
They were greeted with red flashing lights and a robotic voice repeating a message on the intercoms "Evacuate, Evacuate. Exit the building. Location breached. Do not return."
The three agents looked to each other wearing similar faces of confusion. "Do you really think they just left?" John asked, weapon still held in front of him.
"I.. don't know" said Andrew.
"Let's keep moving." Meg headed back through the hallway of cells, to the south exit.
The red lights continued to flash and the announcement continued to repeat. There was literally no one there. They checked behind doors, in closets, yet they found nothing, no one.

Once they reached the south exit where they had entere, Andrew carefully pushed the door open. They were met with a quiet French forest. Meg held the door open while the other two looked around outside, returning moments later after they had found nothing yet again.
"I don't think anyones here. Like at all." Andrew said as he and John walked back inside.
"We passed the main office, let's check there one more time then we can go get the rest of them." Meg said, turning around and letting the door shut behind them.
The office was empty as well but the computers were still on.
"Deleting files..." John read aloud.
"This one has an email..." Meg said. "To whom it may concern: The girl has been taken. I don't get paid enough for this shit. Base 616 has been shut down indefinitely. All agents and scientists have evacuated. Signed... Sergeant Cladwell." Meg hummed. "I guess we have our answer."
"I put all of their files onto a usb so we can look at those later." Andrew said, shaking the usb in his hand.
The team headed back to the elevator and John went down as planned.
"We're good?" Danny asked.
Danny had been standing near the elevator with his ICER while Sam, Louie, and Bucky sat on the floor with Marie, who was curiously trailing her fingers along Bucky's vibranium arm.
John nodded, "Buildings completely empty. Found an email saying that they shut down this base entirely."
"Do you really believe that?" Louie asked.
Sam looked up at Bucky, "We have to." He looked at Marie and in broken Russian he said, "Слышишь, что Мари? Все чисто." (Hear that Marie? All clear.) The four of them stood up and packed into the elevator to meet Meg and Andrew.

Once they made it to the top, the group headed out of the base. Past the cells that Bucky and Sam had been held in, and out through the south entrance.
Once outside, it was easy to make their way back to the jet. The afternoon sun lit a path through the trees. Marie looked awestruck. The sun beams glittering, trees rustling, and the fresh smell of pine in the air.
Bucky sighed as the plane came into view. Marie had been holding his hand the whole way there, with Sam at his other side.
