《You're the guy my dad never shut up about? | S. Rogers [1]》25. Truths

"WHAT?!" The four people that are in the lab and the rest of the team that was making their way in, exclaimed.
So many questions flooded their minds they didn't even know where to begin. How is it that Galilea died but she doesn't know anything about it? Why didn't Tony or better yet, her parents, tell her about it? Why keep it a secret?
"What do you mean she died?" Natasha asked. Tony looked back at a sleeping Galilea, turned back to them and sighed.
"Upstairs, now" he made his way through the team and up the stairs.
They followed behind him. They made their way upstairs and spotted Tony at his bar station. He saw them and motioned to the many bottles "Want a drink?" He asked.
"Come on Stark, just tell us what happened" Clint said.
Tony grabbed his drink and went to sit down at the couch, they did the same. Tony took a sip and went down memory lane.
"Galilea got her last power when she was 12. Said power is the power to inflict pain on others. Not only did my dad found that power unusual, I mean why would a 12 yet old need that for? But it developed much faster than the other three. A couple months later, her power reached excruciating pain, like Harry Potter crucio pain"
"What?" Thor and Steve asked confused.
"Much to learn" Tony mumbled "Like I was saying, we kept Gali's powers in a low radar. Not many knew about them, only a trusted few"
"Ha, I always knew you guys trusted me" Kami smiled.
"Because you and Gali were- are, like sisters. Please freckles, stop interrupting me" Tony told Kamilla.
"Sorry" Kami mumbled. Tony was silent for a moment then continued.
"One of my dad's partners found out and kidnaped Gali and me" they gasped. Bruce was about to ask something but Tony raised his hand to stop him "The guy's original plan was to take Gali by herself, but I was with her so he took both of us. We were taken to some kind of underground hideout, and a few hours later our parents showed up. It was like a horrible custody fight. And all those traitors wanted was for Gali to use her powers. They wanted Gali to do stuff for them, like work for them. And something told me that they also wanted to experiment on her. They gave her a chance to demonstrate the powers by herself, but she didn't want to. They knew she wasn't going to willingly use her powers, so they gave her some 'encouragement' They hit us, like beated us. Gali yelled at them to stop but it just got harder and harder. Gali was crying and screaming, she was held back and forced to watch. Dad told Gali not to use them, we told her not too, but it was to much for her. She was getting mad and annoyed she couldn't do anything to stop them"
"So that's what she was yelling" Nat mused when all the screaming and yelling from Gali made sense.
"But what about when she-"
"I'm getting there" Tony cut Steve off "Gali was trying to fight off the guys that were holding her back, a lot was happening at that moment, she couldn't use compulsion, don't really know why. I guess she had enough, because next thing I know she's full on screaming and the guys that were holding her looked like they were in pain. Their faces were red, they looked like twilight characters when they're in pain"

"Twilight?" Steve asked confused. Tony glared at him and he shut up.
"She was using the pain power. It was getting stronger each second, and each time it increased, she would hurt herself"
"So Gali was experiencing the same level of pain she was inflicting on the others?" Bruce questioned.
"It appears so, because when the guys that were hurting all of us dropped dead... she went down with them. I remember my dad running towards her lifeless body on the floor. He checked her pulse and when he said she was gone, my mom let out the most earpiercing scream that I've ever heard. Gali was dead for a total of seven minutes. I really don't know how, but she came back. She took in a breath of air as if she's never breathed before. She was still weak because of all the energy she used, but she was alive. She was unconscious for the rest of the day, and we agreed on making her forget what happened that day" he paused for a second.
"Our dad did something to her to make her forget, and replaced it with something different. He made her think we got in a car crash so the bruising on all of us won't make her question us. When she woke up she didn't remember anything of the kidnapping, she just had the knowledge that we were in a car accident. And when our dad was messing with her brain, he somehow managed to trick it so the pain power wouldn't be so powerful" Tony finished telling the event that happened long ago.
They were quiet as they let everything sink in. They were kidnaped, tortured, beaten, tried to fight them off, Gali killed the bad guys and in the process, died. That's a lot for a 12 yer old girl. They thought about it more but their thoughts were cut off by Tony's cry of pain.
They looked up and saw Tony rubbing his left shoulder, glaring at someone. They turned and saw Gali standing by the bar with an orange in her hand. An orange laid on the floor next to Tony.
"The hell?" Clint mumbled. Gali mumbled something they couldn't understand.
"What?" Tony asked.
"Were. You. Going. To. Tell. Me?" She asked louder, through gritted teeth. Tony stayed silent and Gali's face turned to more anger. "You little-" she threw another orange and Tony dodged it. It flew until it crashed in a vase. They jumped at the loud crash.
"Why?" She asked, eyes glistening with tears.
"What kind of a 12 year old wants to grow up knowing that they killed five men?" Tony asked.
"The one who did it to save their family!"
"We didn't tell you anything because we wanted to protect you. I mean, you could've gone on a rampage, an-"
"What kind of a blood thirsty 12 year old would do that?! We've been through so much together. We've both seen things, we both know things, hell, we've even fought the same people! But you can't tell me about the one time I saved my family? And to make things worse, I don't think you were ever going to tell me! For crying out loud, I died! Don't you think that's something I would need to know?! That your only sister died?! Was I going to hear it from some gossip magazine that has nothing better to do than to go through people's lives?!" Gali shouted at Tony.
"I was planning on telling you" Tony defended himself. She raised her hands in the air and let them fall at her sides.

"And when was that going to be?" She asked "Before or after I die... again!" She snapped.
"Don't say that!"
"Well it's true!"
That's the angriest the Avengers have ever seen Galilea get. She looks like she's about to explode. She's glaring at Tony, tears streaming down her face. And the others are just sitting there staring at the Starks.
"I can't believe you weren't even going to tell me" She ran straight to the stairs and quickly made her way upstairs. Tony stomped his way down to the lab.
"Don't" Kami stopped Steve as he made to follow Galilea "After an argument like that, they're better off alone" she said.
"But-" He started but was cut off by Pepper.
"Sorry Steve, but Kami is right. By now Gali has blocked all access to her room and Tony is working on one of his cars"
"So what am I suppose to do?" He asked them.
"If there's one thing I know the Starks won't turn down, is food. We can make-" Before Kami could finish, she was interrupted by the shouting of Tony and Gali.
"Don't cook any Parmesan chicken!" She frowned.
"Pasta it is" she shrugged.
After Kamilla convinced the Avengers to not bother Tony or Gali, they went to the grocery store, well Clint, Thor, Natasha and Steve did. The rest stayed in the tower.
They bought food and tried to control Thor from overflowing the cart with pop tarts, but he did get away with a fair few. Clint tried to buy ten buckets of mint chocolate chip ice cream, but Natasha got him under control.
They made it back to the tower with more than what they actually needed to buy. Ten boxes of pop tarts, three buckets of ice cream, three Nutella jars, two boxes of graham crackers, and a bag of giant marshmallows.
"Were the marshmallows necessary?" Steve asked Natasha.
"They're the biggest ones I've seen in my life. Of course they're necessary!" Natasha exclaimed.
Steve didn't say anything as they made their way up the tower. When the elevator doors opened they saw Kami, Bruce and Pepper standing around with worried expressions.
"What's wrong?" Clint asked as they made their way to them.
They shushed them and turned back to the stairs that lead down to the lab. They were quiet heard some intense arguing.
"That's bullshit Tony!" Gali yelled.
"It's not if I was going to tell you!" He yelled back.
"Oh like when you were going to tell me that you were dying?!"
Those who were not present during Tony's near death, were confused "Long story" Pepper whispered.
"Well if the the whole Justin Hammer/Whiplash thing wouldn't happen I would've told you at an earlier point!"
"No. You would've waited until something bad would've happen, just like 14 years ago!" Gali shouted.
They were confused. When they left, Gali and Tony were in different rooms of the tower, but now they're down in the lab telling at each other.
"Do they always fight like this?" Clint asked Kamilla. She slowly shook her head.
"Last time they argued like this was... was after their parents died" she said.
Their parents death was years ago. Something really bad must've happened for them to fight like that.
"I was 18, and going through one of the stages of grief!" Tony shouted back.
"A stage that actually wanted me to be gone at that moment! And don't say that you didn't meant it, because if you said it you sure as hell were thinking about it!"
"Be quiet!" Tony yelled.
Gali yelled something back that they couldn't made out, making Tony yell something back. They're yelling at each other and the one thing that was clear enough for them to hear was something Galilea shouted.
"I was dead! You should've left me like that, it's not like you wanted me alive!"
At that moment everyone all froze. Kamilla looks as tho she's re-living something. Her eyes are wide, and she's breathing heavily. Not that again. Please no. She quietly begged.
They were all brought back to their senses as loud thumping on the stairs and crying was heard.
"You never did care, Edward!" Galilea yelled as she made her way up and out of the lab.
"Galilea Maria!" Tony yelled back.
"They sound just like their parents" Kami whispered.
Gali finally made it out, she turned to the team her eyes red, tear stained cheeks and fresh tears rolling down. She locked eyes with Steve, broke down in more tears and ran out of the room.
"Gali!" Steve called after her. She quickly made her way up the stairs and he followed before she could lock all access to her.
He quickly caught up to her, since the serum makes him a fast runner, and caught her in his arms as he stopped her in the middle of the stairs. She collapsed in his arms and cried her eyes out. Steve picked her up and carried her straight to her room.
He could feel his shirt getting wet from the tears, her body shaking, her small cries. He slowly set her down on her bed and she cried. He sat down next to her and she enveloped him in a hug, burying her face in his chest. His arms went around her and his hands rubbed her back in a calming matter.
"Do you want to talk about it?" He softly asked. She shook her head as she continued to cry "It's okay" he kissed the top of her head.
They were in that position for who knows how long, even after the tears stopped, they sat in silence.
"I went down to talk to him" Gali started. Steve looked down at her "I wanted to talk to him... but it ended in another argument"
"You said something about him not wanting you alive. What was it about?" Steve asked. She took a breath.
"After our parents died, we were kinda distant. Tony would spend most of his time in his lab and cars, while I was locked in my room, Kami trying to get me out. One night, a night that Kami decided to stay over, Tony went out to the living room where we were watching a movie. I'm not quite sure what or how it happened, but Tony said something that annoyed me. I answered with a smart comeback but Tony didn't seem to like it. He said something, I would say something back, it gradually progressed to yelling and shouting. They were mostly about how annoying each of us are, but it got to the point where we were being downright hurtful. And Tony... he said something..." she quietly said.
"What did he say?" Steve asked curious. Gali didn't hesitate to answer.
"I wish you would've been in the car with them. Wish that it was you who'd died, instead of them" her voice cracked and she looked down to her hands. Her bottom lip quivered and her eyes began to water.
It looked like she was about to cry again but she didn't. She held back. "So I ran away"
"You what? Where'd you go?"
"Brooklyn" she smiled "My parents have a house there, so Kami, Emil and I lived there for a few days, until Tony got worried and went out to look for me" she explained.
"Why Emil?" Steve asked.
"We needed someone to drive us... and cook for us" she quickly added with a small laugh. Steve laughed along with her.
Gali let out a yawn.
"You should sleep" He said. She nodded, rubbed her eyes and got under the covers. She looked at me with a sleepy smile.
"Kiss me?"
Steve smiled and leaned in to give her a soft kiss on the lips. He kissed her forehead and brushed her brown hair out of her face.
"I'll see you tomorrow" He whispered.
She nodded and soon closed her eyes, falling into a deep sleep.

Important Announcement: English is not my first language, sorry for the mistakes After living a long life on earth, it was finally time to leave, bedridden in a hospital, surrounded by a large family, between sobs and sad goodbye glances, bearing many memories, some good, some bad, funny moments, sad moments, happy moments, tragic moments, I finally closed my eyes and plunged into the abyss of darkness and what awaited me on the other side was ... An old ex-mercenary hungry for adventure is reincarnated in a world of swords and magic, with no trap powers, just his own strength, wits, and outlandish friends. P.S. I am a totally amateur writer, I write just for fun, I am working on illustrations with another person, I plan to put one on the cover of each chapter reflecting its content. At the moment I already have partially assembled the story, I just need to polish a little, the rhythm in which the chapters appear may vary. The original version in Spanish can be found here for the curious https://www.wattpad.com/myworks/250682744-mi-segunda-vida-en-un-mundo-de-fantas%C3%ADa

Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.
