《More Than What He Seems - A Fortnite Story No.1》Chapter 3 - Meeting Midas

Upon bringing Skye's boss back to the ship, I can't help but notice the poor man has many scars across not only his right eye, but all across his arms and a bruise on his, what I can assume, good left eye.
"Poor guy." I mutter to myself, lying him on top of my bed. "He must've gone through something really awful to end up like this." Thinking I owe this guy a lot more than just rescuing him, I dig inside my draws and pull out a first aid kit and patch him up.
2 days later...
Something isn't right. The air doesn't feel as cold as it once was before. "Am I even alive anymore?" I wonder.
I awake to the most unpleasant sound of static. Rubbing the side of my neck, I take in my new surroundings.
"Where am I? This place seems... unfamiliar to me." I question to myself, grumbling as I do.
Noticing a candle on the bedside table to the right, I use it to my advantage lighting it up with a match.
"Let us see where I am."
I use the wall as support for my feet, seeing as they have not moved much for a long time, thus they feel weak, and clamber through a open trap door, leading to the familiar smell of the sea and...
"Someone cooking? I'm not alone, am I?"
Sliding next to the wall just hidden behind the scene of cooked fish, I pull out one of my revolvers from my vest and aim, but I do not shoot. I now see this being for who they are:
A child...
Venting to herself, she steps outside, with me following closely behind.

Switching off the radio, I sigh.
"Jeez, still no signal. I'm gonna be stuck out here for a long time, aren't I?"

Putting my hands together, I wonder to the outside of the ship. Night dawns on the island as the choppy sea slows to a gentle wave.
"I don't remember the last time I talked to someone out here except myself. Am I crazy? ...or just lonely?" I ask, lost in thought.
"You're not alone anymore, child." A calm, British voice answers in response.
Shocked, I turn around to find the man I rescued alive and well.
"Oh! It's you!! You're awake!!"
And just like that, my mood has been turned upside down in a good way.
"So, you're the one who took me off that raft, are you not?" He asks, put his revolver back in his vest.
"Yep, my name is Sophie! It's nice to finally meet you!!" I run up to him, holding out my hand. Apprehensive at first, he shakes my hand.
"Likewise, you may call me M."
"Y'know, for a guy with golden hands, they're really warm." I remark, smiling brightly.
Exhaling out his nose, he says, "I get that a lot. All new people I've met always tell me that."
"O-Oh, sorry. I-I mean, sorry M!" I panic, standing up straight. "If I'm not wrong, you must be Skye's boss."
"Hold on, you knew Agent Skye?" M turns to me, surprised.
"Y-Yes M. She's been my friend for a long time. If fact, she's told me a lot about you. N-Nothing personal though!"
"Come to think of it, Skye did mention things about you." M recalls, scratching the back of his neck.
"Good things, I-I hope."
"Oh yes. I think she even mentioned that you wanted to be apart of the Agency and become an agent like her and me, is that correct?" M asks, raising the eyebrow above his scarred eye.

Turning slightly pink, I look away in embarrassment. "W-Well, yes. But, I don't know if I'm good enough to work for someone as amazing as you."
*****************************************
Poor girl. A part of her wanted to work for me, but she didn't have the confidence to ask. Perhaps she just needs a tutor to guide her.
"Nonsense, child. I'm certain you could make a great agent." I bend down on my knees to her, putting a golden hand on her shoulder.
"You think so? I'm only 15, going on 16 next year." She points out.
"And Skye's 16. Is that a problem?"
"Well, no." She responds. "See? All you need is someone to guide you through the basics, and I'm the only one here who can for the moment."
The little glimpse of hope in her eyes is enough proof of how much she wants to be an agent.
"What do you say? Are you up to the task? It won't be easy."
"I'll do my best! Thank you M!" She smiles, wrapping her arms around me.
Clearing my throat, I take her wrists and unwrap her arms from around. "Alright, but first, let us get your friend and fellow agent back."
