《parties // billie eilish》Chapter 80: Everything has a meaning, you know?

Billie is leaning her head against my shoulder as we watch the boring ass movie that Julia decided to put on. We are all on our phones right anyways, so I don't know why the TV is still on but I guess that it feels a bit comforting to hear voices from the screen. I look over at Julia and Kevin who are cuddling on the couch, looking adorable as always. The fact that they seem to be close again makes my heart warm. Suddenly, Kevin's phone starts calling and he sighs before looking at the kitchen table where the black iPhone is laying.
''Gotta take this,'' Kevin says, gently lifting Julia's head from his shoulder before kissing her head and standing up, walking over to the kitchen table. I follow him with my gaze as he grabs the phone and pushes the green button to answer the call. I assume that there's not an important call that's incoming, but Kevin's nervous voice proves me wrong as he answers.
''Yes, that's me... you want me to come in now? Right now? Oh, okay,'' he mumbles before hanging up. I stand up, making Billie fall onto the couch when she doesn't have my shoulder to lean on.
''Hey, you fucking bitch!'' She says, making me grin widely before turning my attention to Kevin again.
''Who was it?'' I ask, approaching Kevin as he looks at me.
''The police, they want to see me tomorrow, too.''
''Why?'' I ask, furrowing my eyebrows.
''I have no idea. They probably want some more information,'' he explains before yawning softly and walking over to Julia again. We sit down and I can actually tell that Kevin is a bit nervous as he bites his lip. I really hope that it goes well for him and that nothing happens, but I fear that something bad might happen... again. That seems to be my thing these days.

''It's getting late, we should go home,'' Billie says before putting her hand on my thigh. ''My mom invited you for dinner, by the way.''
''Oh, that sounds great,'' I say with a smile before walking over to the door and putting my shoes on.
''Good luck,'' I mumble as I hug Kevin, really hoping that he won't get hurt.
''Thank's,'' he says before pulling away and hugging Billie.
It takes a while, but me and Billie eventually arrive at her house after sitting on the bus for what feels like hours. After the elevator arrives at Billie's floor, Finneas opens the door immediately before pulling his little sister into a hug.
''I've missed you!'' He mumbles into her shoulder before hugging her tightly.
''We met like... three days ago,'' she laughs. ''But I've missed you, too.''
After they pull away, Finneas hugs me as well.
''Hey, how are you?'' He asks with a smile.
''I'm good, what about you?''
''I'm great.''
After saying hi to Billie's parents as well, we enter Billie's bedroom as Maggie finishes the food. I lay down on Billie's bed, sighing deeply.
''I'm so tired, dude,'' I say with a yawn, making Billie giggle before laying down next to me.
''Get your ass over here,'' she mumbles as I realise that she's opening her arms for me. I smile slightly before moving over to her and laying down, resting my head on her chest as she wraps her arms around me.
''Can we just... stay like this forever?'' I mumble, making her chuckle before kissing my head and starting to play with my hair.
''I would love to,'' she says as I draw random patterns on the skin on her hip with my fingertip.

Eventually, Billie's parents yell that the food is done and we immediately enter the kitchen as I feel like I'm about to starve to death if I don't eat something right now. Luckily, the pasta and tomato sauce is already on the table and as we sit down, Billie probably sees how hungry I am because she puts the food on my plate first.
''Thank's,'' I say as she smiles at me before putting a hand on my thigh under the table.
''So, how is it going with Travis?'' Maggie asks, making me freeze.
''What- How did you know?'' Billie asks with surprise in her voice.
''The police called us right after you guys came to the police station. Of course we got to know this,'' she says softly as I open my mouth to apologize.
''It's okay, I'm not mad at you guys,'' she says, chewing her food. ''I just want you guys to know that we are always here for you, and you can tell us everything, okay?''
Me and Billie nod at the same time, and it does feel a bit better when I don't have to lie about this.
''Thank's mom,'' Billie says quietly as Maggie smiles at her softly.
After finishing the food, we go into Billie's room again and she immediately lays down on her stomach, her face borrowed into the soft pillow.
''Are you okay?'' I ask her, sitting down on my knees next to her while putting my hand on her lower back.
''Yeah,'' she says softly as I straddle her back and start to squeeze her shoulders as I can tell that she's a bit stressed. I'm trying to learn to read Billie's mind, but it's really hard. I can usually see right through people. Like, if I meet someone I can often tell if they have been going through something or how they are feeling but with Billie, it's hard. I think that she tries to hide a lot of her negative feelings from me, and that bothers me.
''Billie?'' I ask, biting my lip.
''Yeah?'' She says, turning around so she's facing me.
''How are you? Like, in general,'' I mumble, grabbing her hands before starting to play with the metallic rings on her fingers.
''I'm fine, actually. I'm not gonna lie, I felt pretty bad a couple of months ago but after meeting you...'' she starts before looking down. ''It just feels like everything has a meaning, you know?''
''I don't understand how I can have that much impact,'' I say truthfully.
''But I do. You will never understand how much you are helping me through everything. Just looking at you makes me feel complete in a way I can't explain,'' she says as I discover a tear making it's way down her cheek.
''Baby, don't cry,'' I mumble before cupping her face and wiping the tears away with my thumb before pressing my lips against her. I feel how she grabs the back of my neck, pulling me closer to her. Her lips taste like salt from the tears, but it doesn't matter. All that matters is her.
