Lena pov

After that wonderful dinner with Robert and Susan, Scarlett and I decided to head home. We watched a film in the living room and ended up spending the night there as well.

Now it's morning, I'm in the gym trying to burn the calories of last night's pasta. I did my daily workout like I always do and headed upstairs when my muscles started getting sore. I need to shower.

Scarlett is still fast asleep in the living room, on the sofa. She was really tired last night it seems. I finished getting cleaned and started to search for a suit. I need to go to work today. I know I agreed to spend the week with Scarlett, but a couple hours in the office never hurt anybody. I found some black trousers and a plain white shirt. I'm not up for dressing too much for today. I just want to get some things done so I can go home to Scarlett.

Go home to Scarlett. I love the thought of that. Imagine her and I coming home each night. Talking about our day, cuddling on the bed and falling asleep in each others arms each night. That's something to wish for. I don't know what is it that we're doing if I'm being totally honest. I told her I liked her, and so did she. We kiss and we hold hands but we don't know what is it that's happening. Does she want to be with me? Call me her girlfriend and maybe one day even wife? Am I crazy for thinking about those things when we haven't even said the three key words.

"Lena can I come in?" She asks through the door.

"Yes!" I yell out.

"Hey, what are you doing up so early?" She asks

"It's only 7:45am." I say checking my watch.

"Yes, It's early. Are you heading to work?" She asks

"Yes, I should be home by noon." I say putting on some light makeup.

"Can I come with?"

"You want to join me?" I ask turning around.

"Why not? I want to see you in your workplace. I can do some work of my own while I'm there and I can help you out if necessary."

"Okay, go get ready." I say and turn around.

She jumps up excited and goes to the guest room next to mine. We left her suitcases there and she was supposed to sleep over there. But, she ended up sleeping with me. I'm not complaining. I'm over the moon with just the idea that she's here with me. She surprised me when she asked if she could come with. I thought she found my work boring. I know I do.

"I'm ready I just need to do my hair." she says walking past me and into the bathroom.

Damn, she's fast.

After we finished getting ready we walked down to my car. On the way there I played my playlist to loosen up a bit. I don't know why I feel sort of nervous about Scarlett joining me for today.

"Do you have your laptop?" I ask her.

"Oh no, I left it in the guest room." She says disappointed

"Don't worry you can take mine."

"What will you work on?" She asks

"My computer?" I ask confused.

"Do you have your own office?" she asks

"Yes, I do. It was my father's before it was mine." I say.

"I can't wait to see it."

"Do you want to get a tour of the building? I can hire someone to do that." I say

"Can I ask you a question?"

"Sure, what is it?"

"It's kinda weird."

"Spit it out Scarlett."

"How do your employees act when there is a famous person around?" She asks.

"What? What do you mean?"

"I mean.. are they going to be looking at me weirdly or?"

"Oh.. Oh! Don't worry about that. They are all well-mannered and they're used to famous people, besides they are all focused on what they do. A tough crowd to please if you ask me." I answer.

"Okay then, I'm happy to hear that." She says looking out of the window.

Soon enough we arrive to my workplace. I drive into the underground parking lot.

"There's a place over there." She says pointing to an open parking space.

"Don't worry about that." I say and drive down to my own parking space.

"Fancy." She says under her breath.

We walk into the elevator and I press the button to my office floor.

"whoa, this is straight out of a movie" She says as we walk into the hallway.

"You like it?"

"I love it. You work here?"

"I do, come let me show you my office" I say and we walk past desks. Each person saying 'good morning' as I walk by with Scarlett on my side.

"Good morning beautiful. Here is the report and here's a coffee for your headache." Nathan says

"What headache?" I ask

"Follow me." He says and I turn to look at Scarlett confused.

"You heard the man." She says and walks by me.

I walk into Nate's office to find boxes and boxes scattered on the floor, on the desk, everywhere.

"What's this?" I ask

"This all came yesterday. I didn't want to intrude on your day off so I decided to tell you today."

"What is all of this?" I say opening one box to find files inside.

"These are files from all of our buildings, factories, corporations, facilities you name it."

"I can see that they're files but what are they for? What's in them?" I ask

"They said there were plenty of things in there. Letters of resignations are on my desk."

"What?!" I say going to the cardboard box

"How?" I yelp looking through the box. I already put down everything I had in my hands onto his desk.

"These are from two weeks ago. Wait wait wait. Hold up." People resigned. There is an entire box filled with resignation letters.

"Did you contact these people? Or at least those people I left in charge over there?" I ask

"I tried to but they wanted to speak to you."

"And you didn't even try to tell me about it earlier?!" I shout.

"You had a day off Lena. It was already done by the time it arrived here." He says looking away from me, as if he's scared. Yeah right.

"I can't bloody believe this." I say sitting down onto Nate' chair.

I look in Scarlett's direction and she looks at me strangely. Like I've scared her or something.

"I'll be in my office. Get an intern to transfer these files to my office." I say grabbing my bag and the coffee that Nate gave me earlier.

"um about that." He says scratching the back of his neck.

I turn around and hurry to my office to see if for my own eyes. Please don't be what I think it is.

Oh my god.

My office has the same amount of boxes, only they're more neatly stacked. I take of my jacket and put down my bag. Breathe in, breathe out. Breathe in, breathe out. You can do this Lena.

"I'm sorry Lena." Nathan says as him and Scarlett walk into my office. I sit down in my chair and lean my head on the cushion looking up.

"Are you okay?" Scarlett asks.

"She's thinking now. I know it." He says to her quietly.

Should I call Alex? He maybe knows what's going on. Or should I call my lousy uncle Tom. He knew all about my dad and his secrets. He should be able to solve this. I know a similar thing happened to them when I was in Oxford. My father had a friend who solved it in just two days. Now what was his name..

"Nathan, here are the keys to the journal vault. Go and find my fathers journal from 2012-13. Find the name of the man that he called for the financial crisis they had in at that time. Go alone and don't tell anyone where you're going. We need to be discrete about this." I say tossing him the keys. He just nods and leaves the room.

"That was quick." Scarlett says sitting in the chair opposite of me.

"I remember my father had a friend that solved most of his problems with the company. Might as well try to ask for help from him." I say

"Why are you acting so secretive about it then?"she asks

"Because I know my father did some bad things. I don't know what he did this time."

"Your father is not alive Lena."

"I know. He left his minions behind. Lurking in the shadows, waiting for me to make a mistake." I say

"I'm sorry about all of this." She says motioning to the boxes.

"Don't be, it's not your fault. This whole shit has an explanation. I just need to fix it."

"I'm sorry for interrupting Ms Adams, I have something quite concerning to show you." Emily says.

"Come in, let me see." I say and she walks up to my desk, close to Scarlett.

"What is this?" I ask

"This is how much we've lost with all the letters of resignation. Some withdrew their bonus right before and just left."

"Over 100 000£ is gone because of all of these people?" I ask

"Well something must have happened-

"-don't Emily. You can go."

"I'm sorry Miss." She apologizes.

"No need to apologize, and tell Elizabeth to come in here. I need her ASAP." I say and she hurries out of the room.

"Why did you have to be so mean towards that poor girl." Scarlett says.

"Because when you're in my shoes, you can't afford to be anything but strict." I say to her.

"But you could have told her nicely."

"You called." Elizabeth says as she walks into my office.

"Call everyone into the big conference room. Tell them I'll be there in 15 minutes." I tell her.

"What for?"She asks

"Just do what I said" I look over at Scarlett who is giving me a stern look.

"Please." I add and Scarlett smiles a bit.

"Okay, right away boss." She says and leaves.

"See! Was that so hard?" She says gesturing with her hands.

"Oh shut up." I say as I turn on my computer. She giggles at my remark.

"Is everyday as hectic as today?" She asks

"I don't think so. It's mostly agitating because of all the mess and miscommunication that occurs every once in a while."

"Well that's not your fault." She says

"I know. Nathan was right about that headache." I say as I sip on my coffee.

"Have you eaten anything?" I ask her.

"No, I guess I forgot." she says

I take my phone and call up the restaurant that usually delivers me food to the office.

"Emerald foods, how can I help you?" A woman answers.

"Hello, this is Lena Adams speaking. I need to order a breakfast." I say looking at Scarlett.

"Of course miss Lena, what would you like?"

"What would you like hun?" I ask Scarlett

"I don't know. Anything is fine." she says

"Okay so give me one of your best omelets and a chicken salad." I say

"Anything else?"

"That would be all thank you." I say

"Perfect. It will arrive in about 30 minutes." She says

"Thank you have a nice day." I say and end the call.

"You didn't have to do that." She says

"I didn't have to do what?" I ask as I open a box.

"Buy me food. I could have ordered." She says

"This place is literally ten steps away from the front door of this office building. And besides, they know me by now." I say

"Can I help out?" She asks

"Oh don't worry, we'll have to leave in 10 minutes. I'm just checking to see if there are any more surprises in these bloody boxes." I say as I look through the files.

"You want me to join you during the meeting?" she asks confused.

"Only if you want to. You can stay here. Just move the boxes from the couch if you want to get comfortable." I say

"I'll come with. I want to see it all." She says.

"How about a tour?" I ask looking at my watch.

"Right now?"

"Right now."
