"Hey, Dee, you're out of iced tea," Dad said slowly, smirking in the kitchen as he called out to Mom. The open concept of our house let me see him from the living room, but Mom's back was facing him.

What Mom didn't see was that she wasn't out of iced tea... yet.

"You're not out, Mom; Dad's about to drink it all," I said as he brought the container to his mouth.

Dad shouted at me, "You will never be my partner in crime!"

Mom and I laughed, while she claimed that she knew what was going on behind her.

After the laughter died down, and a few minutes later, we heard Dad's voice again. "Oh, hey, there's a hole in this pie," he stated, licking his lips as he approached the apple caramel dessert with a fork.

"That's because you're about to make one!" I pointed out.

Dad looked at me incredulous, waving his fork around, hinting for me to shut up.

"Don't you think I know what he's doing!" Mom exclaimed at me. "Come on now, I've known the man over twenty years."
