《Wrap Me in Gold ; Reader X Midas (Fortnite)》Chapter 3 | Get Comfortable

You began blinking rapidly thinking maybe somehow your eyes will open and you'll be out of this dream or nightmare, no surprise when you still sat there in the same room. You still couldn't believe which then led you to pinch yourself. "This is real.." You whispered to yourself. Hearing the door open you whipped your head with widen eyes as to who could be there for you. It was one of the men in their all white suit gear, staring at you before he spoke.
"Do not try anything, if you do so. you will immediately be taken into custody at the shark." He warned before coming closer to handcuff you from behind. 'the shark?' you thought yourself making a confused face. What the hell did he mean? Was he going to feed to a literal shark?! You freaked out at the possibilities but remained calm so that the guard did not assume you were doing something wrong. Boy did you not want to see what he meant by "the shark". The man led you to a desk next to a photo booth with an empty chair where you assumed you'll be seated in, and to your intentions, you were correct. "We've called someone in to talk to you and they'll be here shortly, don't move anywhere." it felt like he was staring through your soul even though you couldn't even see him with his weird looking mask. Nodding slowly you turned your head towards the empty chair behind the desk wondering who will be sitting there. Are they going to kill you? Interrogate you?! All of these thoughts going through your head making you feel more and more anxious.
About 10 minutes passed by and your hands were feeling tense from the cuffs. It sucked, you weren't even cuffed with your hands in the front so when you got itchy or your hair got in your face, you'd just have to take it and deal with it. "Is there anyway you can take these off of me? It's starting to hurt and I don't feel comfortable, please, I promise I won't do anything, I don't even have anything on me that'll harm you." You pleaded the nearby guard. "No can't do miss, it was an order given to me and I have to obey it. Don't worry, the person coming in to talk to you just arrived." He assured you as you heard a helicopter land nearby. 'Who would want to come in and talk to me?' and your question was quickly answered as the door nearby opened where there was a woman in work attire and yellow see through shade appeared.

"Evening henchmen." she smiled at them. Henchmen! That's what they were called, you recognized them now as the men walking around the island, that is until they were replaced with men wearing black instead, but, you never understood why. The henchman nearby you nodded at her in response as she was making her way to the chair in front of you behind the desk, booting up the computer. As she waited for the computer to completely turn on, her head turned towards you giving you a very slight smile making you feel a little but more comfortable and safe.
"Hi there, I'm Rook. Sorry it took me some time to get here, something came up." You didn't know what to say being so nervous and scared that you'll say something wrong to piss her off. "uh it's okay, it's not like I had anything to do." you replied. "Right, so, who are you and why are you here disturbing this building?" You felt your cheeks heat up from embarrassment. You didn't know what to say, you yourself didn't know why you were here. Rook began typing into the computer logging in and pulling up files after files and you couldn't keep up as you tried to figure out what to answer to her question. "Um.. well I honestly don't know. I woke up in weeping woods in different clothes from what I was wearing previously and I walked up this hill to come across this building and I walked in seeking for help, I didn't mean to disturb! I was just scared." You told her truthfully.
"I see. What's your name?" She looked back at your from her computer. "Y/N.Y/N Y/L/N." you said with a smile. "Okay Y/N, I don't know what exactly to do with that kind of information, but, you don't seem like a threat to me, so hopefully you don't seem like a threat to my boss." She finished typing on her computer. Boss? "Your boss? What do I have to do with your boss?" You asked as she turn off the computer all her attention now on you. "Well, you disturbed and set off an alarm to his building, he wants to see who you are why you're setting them off as you oppose to be threat to the security. It's mandatory sorry, otherwise I'd let you go off with your day but it's his order." Thinking about, that was better than wandering off on your own until god knows how long. At least you had something to do in the meantime until you become face to face with this 'bossman'. Who knows, maybe he'll help you get back home and figure out why you're in this game and in the meantime, recommend somewhere for you to stay until then. 'That hotel at Lazy Lake your always landed at never seemed too bad' You thought to yourself.

"Soo," You began, breaking the awkward silence between you two. "what am I gonna do in the meantime? Stay here or wait outside?"you pointed towards the door with your thumb "Well to keep in contact with you, I'm gonna need your pin number." What pin number? Theres pin numbers in this game? "oh um, I don't seem to have one.." She shot you a confused look making your blood rush to your face worried about how stupid you looked not knowing of such thing. "okay, well in that case we can send a henchman with you back home and we'll alert him when your time comes?" "Well as I mentioned earlier, I don't know how I got here so I kinda don't have a place to stay." you reminded her. "Oh my, this is interesting, never had to deal with something like this before." she furrowed her brows. "I think I should just stay here until then." You suggested. "I would suppose so... But I think I should get you transported to my boss himself!" She started calling over the henchmen to prepare them for transportation. "Oh, you don't have to, I can-" "I think it's the best right now, just get it over with." and with that you were being escorted by the henchmen outside, Rook following not too far behind.
You were put into a helicopter as it flew over the water surrounding a huge white beautiful building. You quickly knew it as the eye of the island on the map, but you never went always seeing a lot of people landing there. You were just scared and always avoided it as much as you could. That being said, you never went in there. As the helicopter landed near the entrance you quickly spotted another helicopter, but it was fully gold, nothing you've seen before, you always saw the same looking henchmen gearing every area on the outside, strapped with different weapons each and every one of them. You gulped as you were intimidated, you never landed her playing the game, but now you're here, in person.
"We're here." Rook smiled down at you, you were still cuffed behind your back. At this point, you wouldn't be surprised if your wrists were bruised. You were escorted out gently and entered into the huge building. "Whoa.." You whispered taking in the beauty of the interior. "Nicely put together isn't it?" Rook turned to you. "Very.. and you work here?" " A lot of us do. Let me take you to my boss right this way." She led you place her hand on your back making sure you follow her every step. You walked up a flight of stair until you were on the third floor. There, she turned to the right where there were two doors, one right ahead and another on the left side of the wall with a scanner looking device on the right next to it. Walking up to the door Rook knocked before a voice can be heard from the inside "Come in!" Rook scanned a key card as the blue light lit up before making a beeping noise swinging the door open. Neither of you walked in yet.
"I have the girl with me right here." she announced to the mystery man "I thought I was going to call you to tell her when to come, at my convenience?" The male sounded slightly annoyed that Rook didn't follow his orders, and it scared you. "Well yes, but something came up and I think you need to help her with it boss." She excused sounding nervous. "Bring her in and close the door when you exit." She nodded and turned to you and walked behind, taking off the handcuffs. "Your wrists look pretty beat up, sorry about that." She looked sincere and it made you feel bad for some reason. "Don't worry about it." You smiled before walking into the room. You hear the door shut at you meet face to face with the man standing in front of his desk, arms paced behind his back. Taking in his image, you quickly realize who he is. No fucking way...
Midas.

It takes time and several hiccups to transition from being a mobile being to being a stationary rock that changes the word with its mind. What is the miasma right outside the door? What monsters does it hide? Can the people that have found me really be trusted? Now planning to post a chapter every other week. I have added a volume for the maps so they are easy to find. Thief of Time
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Book 1: The Legend of Tot Synopsis: Claud Primus, a self-declared master thief, has a simple goal. To live forever. It's a rather easy task, for miraculous objects called lifestones are able to extend one's lifespan. These lifestones are best found in the treasuries of nobles, lovely resorts that Claud pays a visit to every so often. Unfortunately, one of those nightly visits go awry, and Claud is forced to escape with just a single lifestone and a box in hand. Normally, that's when things die down. The guards yawn, the gates close, and the night continues. But this time, the night isn't that forgiving. A dozen schemes result in the murder of someone important, and with a convenient scapegoat — Claud — at hand, it doesn't take long for him to be framed as a heinous criminal, wanted for the indirect murder of someone high up...and it just gets worse from there. Book 2: The Moon Lords' Rise Synopsis: As ordered chaos sweeps across Licencia, Claud leaves for Julan Barony, intent on making some profits there. Accompanied by the erstwhile heiress of Julan, a fellow member of the Moon Lords, the two plot against the barony's wealth...as well as a promise to bring about its downfall. Meanwhile, back home, the Moon Lords have busied themselves with digesting their gains. Eyes, however, are beginning to turn to this proverbial fish in a small pond. The fishermen are coming. When they cast their hook, what will Dia and the others do? Book 3: Murders under the Moons Synopsis: In the sleepy town of Nachtville, where Claud and Lily are forced to stop at, a set of nasty murders occurs. Victims scream out in fright, before a spear falls from the sky to end their suffering. Cowed and cautious, the master thief and his partner slink in the shadows, their objective that of home... A new task, however, has fallen on Dia. With a trusty helper at her side, she has to set off towards Nachtville itself, to solve the mystery Claud had abandoned. Faced with an enemy whose sole skillset is geared towards killing, how will they succeed? And what dark secrets will they find? Book 4: In the Dark of the Moons Synopsis: The year has ended. The four months of the full moons will soon be followed by two months of the new moons. Duke Istrel's ascension is around the corner. Amidst this political upheaval, Count Nightfall, Licencia's strongest defender, has been called away. The Moon Lords' largest task yet — to protect Licencia in the absence of its ruler — has begun. And yet, trouble is unrelenting. A distinguished personage, one that Claud fears, has been found dead in the county, his brains dug out and his body disemboweled. The inquisitors of the White Church have been dispatched to investigate and apprehend the murderer...as well as the person behind this puppet. Tormented by a call to fight, Claud directs his eyes out of the city, looking for the puppetmaster. Skulking in the shadows, the master thief will soon confront his greatest foe yet. A foe just like him. Book 5: Moonlit Tides and Darkened Seas Synopsis: A new era has begun. For the privileged, the sands of time dribble away for every passing moment, counting down to the arrival of a entity of mythical proportions. The night now harbours shadows and fog, and operatives of the Moons and the Dark clash in shadow. Claud, as usual, is investigating a spate of nasty disappearances in the city, but little does he know what these disappearances truly mean. And yet, a tide is coming. When it finally breaks, what will he do? Book 6: Secrets in Shadow Synopsis: The person behind a strike that would enter the annals of history flees his home, bringing with him the person closest to his heart into a new land and into a new world. Having left Istrel for the first time in his life, the two of them attempt to settle down in foreign lands, only to be caught in the middle of hostilities between two mighty powers grappling for dominion. Yet, none of that has anything to do with him. Following his desires, Claud eventually makes his way to the fabled Celestia Ruins, a fragment of another world. Bearing witness to truths he cannot yet comprehend, he returns from his exploration, a small break away from the machinations of destiny. One thing, however, is for certain. Destiny will not wait for him. Book 7: Reddest Rage Synopsis: Destiny churns on, heedless of mortal machinations, and Claud watches as the battlegrounds between the Moons and the Dark are drawn up. With the forces of the great Dark occupying Lostfon, Claud comes to a startling realisation — that he may have very well be a murderer of heinous proportions. Grappling with that realisation, he struggles to prepare for his Second Tutorial... Back in Istrel, Dia finds herself confronted with a perennial truth. Even in a time of writhing destiny, the machinations between nobles never cease to end — and unfortunately for her, the group once known as the Moon Lords are forced into dealing with a petty squabble between two counts. What they didn't account for, however, was the startling discovery they would soon make... And the shadow of the Red God's Holy Son behind it all. Book 8: Darkness Descends Synopsis: Nightmares haunt the horizon as Claud sinks and awakens from a seeming dream. What was once illusory begins to play out before him, in a way he cannot imagine. Dia, forced to wield arms, begins and ends a battle that opens her eyes to the vast dangers that lurk in this sundered world. Under the banner of humanity and divinity, she beholds the silent, forgotten protectors of Orb...but there is no forgetting the battle between the divinities. The Dark descends, the Moons writhe, and the horns of war blow once more. But this is not their battle. Not yet. Book 9: Moons Muster Synopsis: As more and more events fall into place, Claud finds himself desperate. Not for himself, but for the person who has turned into his world. Armed with the knowledge of a certain future, he approaches the only person that could possibly help him in his time of need, trading information for a promise of help. With that as solace, he returns to the grim task of understanding and seeking, revisiting an ancient, shattered fragment of another world...unleashing changes that he never knew was possible. Back in Istrel, Dia and the others must now navigate around a familiar spirit, who seeks to investigate the death of his master's Bearer. With them as prime suspects, the Seekers of Life must move carefully...but the Coloured Gods are not the only divinities eyeing them closely. The Moons, bristling from repeated defeats, are looking for new recruits, and the Seekers of Life are prime cannon fodder. Above all, destiny marches on, the unfeeling clock a warning to all. The Trial of Aeons will soon arrive. Book 10: Destiny Divine Synopsis: ??? Release frequency: one every few days or something, I guess.
