《The Blood Queen》Morning Of

I woke up extra early this morning and ran to Henleys room. She was already awake and just got out of the shower when I ran in.
"I'm so excited I didn't even sleep!" Henley says and I laugh and make her sit in the chair. "It's so weird to spend a night without Charlie" she says as I pull her hair back so I can apply her makeup.
"Well from now on you don't have to" I say winking at her in the mirror and her cheeks burn red.
"We are here!" Nathalie and Emily say bursting into the room with excitement.
"Perfect I just finished the makeup." I say and move out of the way so Emily can do her hair while I do Nathalie's makeup. We spent two hours going back and fourth getting each other ready until it was time to change into our dresses.
"See you on the aisle ladies" we all say and I kiss Henleys cheek when Roman shows up to be her escort down the aisle. He was a best man too but unfortunately becoming a beast and not aging in the last 25 years meant Henley didn't get to stay in contact with her family.
"You look happy" I say to Roman as I walk past and he shrugs with a big grin on his face.
"It'll take longer like you said but we are going on a date next weekend. Apparently there's a dating process" he says and I roll my eyes and laugh before wishing him good-luck to not trip down the aisle.
Once in my room I slipped into my dress and pushed my earrings in. Standing in front of the mirror I looked at myself for the last time this dressed up. I hoped this is how Henley remembered me. If she remembered me at all today. I remember how jumbled my wedding was.

A knock resonated and the door opened revealing Dominic in a tux standing at the door. The same tux he wore on our wedding day. My breath caught in my throat and I had to take another breath.
"I thought we were all lining up downstairs" I said choking out the words.
"We are" he says clearing his throat. "I just came back from checking on some last minute things and wanted to make sure you're ready" he says and I nod my head silently and walk towards him closing the door behind us and walking down the hall.
"You encouraged Roman to go win over his soulmate" Dominic remarks and I shrug.
"He would have, I just gave him a little push to do it before she's grey" I laughed and the corner of his lips lifted a little as he fought a laugh.
Thaddeus and Emily were first, followed by Theodore and Nathalie, and then it was Dominic and I, and then the beautiful bride. Eliza-Jane and Damien looked adorable in their outfits and I caught Dominic high-fiving them both.
When the music started playing I smiled back at Henley one last time before stepping in line. I placed my arm in Dominics and prayed I wouldn't trip with all the heat travelling through my body. Each step felt heavier as we made our way down the aisle. I almost tripped but no one could tell as Dominic kept me steady.
"Don't fall on me now" he whispers with a hint of humor and I fought the butterflies it sent to my heart. "You look beautiful by the way" he whispered in my ear when we parted ways at the alter and it took everything in me not to falter. My heart was racing and I had to remember to breath as his darkened eyes stayed on me while Henley and Roman entered the room.

I had to pull my eyes from his as I turned to smile at Henley. Charlie looked so happy. They both did. All their worry and fears were vanished in this moment. Once Henley was in front of me I blocked out the rest of the words as I couldn't keep my eyes from Dominic's. I felt a tear slip out of my eyes as the ceremony continued and everyone stood to applaud. I didn't even see their kiss. He knew. Dominic knew. I could see it in his eyes.

Unliving
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon, November 2021] For the longest time, Aideen Fiachna had only one prescient wish; to be the daughter her parents could take pride in. The idea was a tall order, especially as her father stood at the head of the Templar order, and her grandfather as the Pope. However, she endeavored to try nonetheless. Yet fate had a different path in store for her. For all her efforts, all her best laid plans, were but the broken off crumbs of 'one day'. That day, she was brutally slain by a vile, accursed undead being. Though, not even restful eternity awaited her in death. She awakened inside a coffin. Her coffin. During her own funeral wake. Discovering, to her horror, that she had risen. Not somehow resurrected, no, but back in the form of that most hated of beings--the curse of undeath. What will fate deal her next? Chapters will range from 1-2.5k words, scheduled for release every day from Monday to Friday. --------------------------------------- Expect: -Character progression in a journey of self discovery that spanned the ages -World building -Tragedy and Comedy in roughly equal measures -Occasional action Do not expect: -Much in terms of romance -Politics, barring passing views and mentions -A lighthearted tale. This story will be a good bit grimmer than my previous one Any comments, reviews, and criticism will be much appreciated. And thank you for reading. --------------------------------------- Disclaimer: This story is my original work and only posted on the Royal Road website. If you should find this story elsewhere or under another name, please let me know. Children of Danu, People of Skill Book 1. (LitRPG/Gamelit)
Hi all, this is my first attempt at fiction ever. I'm sure it's awful, first attempts at new things usually are. Hopefully you can find something you like in it. I had a great deal of fun writing it. It's a basic Litrpg/Game, God sends you to a new world to do their bidding plot. I Know I did too much telling and not enough showing. I'm working on that. The underlying system is one haven't seen or done much. a full Point Buy system, like Gurps, Champions or the Hero system. After writing it a while, I see why folks don't do it. The record keeping is tedious. And once you start doing math in subsequent chapters, you can't go back and add more action, just because you dread redoing all the math. I've got about 80k words written in two "books" on the novel so far. I'm going to edit chapters and try to drop a couple a week till it's finished. Hopefully that will work for folks. I need to punch up the amount of action. I'll be working on that as well. Thanks, Cal-P.S> The cover art is one of the two CIrce Paintings By Waterhouse.
