《Lucky》10

The sun was setting by the time we got to the asylum. It was even more beautiful with the sun setting behind it.
"It's beautiful." Colby said next to me as Sam pulled the equipment out of the trunk. "Yeah." I said then walked away. I heard him sigh as I walked towards Sam.
"Need help?" I asked as he laughed lightly, "Wanna hold this?" He asked and held the Ouija board out to me. "Sure." I said then took it from him.
"It's freezing out here." Daisy said and bundled her sleeves into her hands. "Yeah, we brought some blankets so we can stay as warm as possible." Sam said and handed me a backpack full of stuff.
"Aren't you glad you wore that sweatshirt?" I asked Daisy coyly as she breathed a laugh. "Shut up." She grumbled.
We made our way inside as Sam and Colby set up the camera. I could already feel the eeriness weighing down on my chest as I pointed my flashlight down the very dimly lit hallway.
As I flashed my light down the hallway I saw something move out of the corner of my eye causing me to gasp.
"Vi?" I heard Daisy say but I ignored her as I stared down the hallway. I took a step so I could start walking but then heard a loud thud causing me to jump.
"Hello?!" Sam called out as I froze. "Violet, come here." Colby said as he pulled my arm, stepping in front of me. "I saw something." I said as Daisy came up next to me.
"Is someone in here?!" Colby called out as he and Sam shined their flashlights down the hallway. "Nobody should be in here." Sam said as I reached over and grabbed the camera, turning it on.
"I'm just afraid someone snuck in. Hello?!" Sam said as we carefully made our way down the hallway. "What was that!?" Daisy gasped out as she pointed to a room on our left, "What did you see?" Colby asked as she looked at me with fear in her eyes.
"It looked like a shadow." She said as I clenched my jaw. "That's it." I said then pushed passed Colby with the camera in my hand. "Is anyone in here?!" I shouted and walked down the hallway with no hesitation. "Violet, wait!" Sam yelled as I walked towards the room Daisy had pointed to.

As soon as I walked in I was hit with a pungent smell, which resembled ammonia. The smell was so strong that I stumbled backwards, into the hallway. "Vi!" Daisy yelled as someone caught me from falling over.
"Are you okay?" Colby asked as he helped me stand up straight. "Do you not smell that?" I asked as Sam nodded, "smells like ammonia." He said as I nodded, feeling a headache coming on.
"There's probably stray cats in here, that's why we saw shadows and heard things." I said and turned towards Daisy and Colby. "You were filming that entire time?" Colby asked as his eyes trailed down to the camera. "Yeah. I thought that's what we were here for." I said as he grinned at me.
"Colby, I think she's coming for our job." Sam said as he grabbed the camera from me. "I think so too, but please don't go off alone like that. You almost gave me a heart attack, Vi." Colby said which caused my heart to flutter.
Why did him calling me Vi make my heart happy...everyone called me Vi.
"I won't." I said then turned away from him. "Dude, this footage is sick, even if it is just for some stray cats." Sam said as I walked over to check the footage with him.
"Maybe we should bring you along to every trip, you weren't scared in the slightest to go off by yourself." Sam said which caused Daisy to suck in a breath.
"No thanks." I said even though it sounded fun. I really did enjoy getting to spend time with Sam and Colby. They really did put off this great vibe, I wouldn't mind traveling around the country with them just going on ghost adventures.
"We should go to the woman's wing!" Daisy suggested. "Are you sure we should start there? That's like...the most dangerous part of this entire place." Colby said as Daisy giggled.
"Yeah! I'm all about the danger. Let's just go." She said then turned to me, "unless you're too scared, V. We don't have to." She said and smiled at me.
"I'm not scared, let's go." I said then led the way down the hallway. "I really have to talk to you." Sam said as he jogged up to me. "About what?" I asked as he looked behind him for a second.

"This footage." He said as I scrunched my brow at him. "What's up." I said as we walked down the hallway, dodging debris.
"There was something in that room." He said as I stopped to look at him. "What?" I asked then leaned towards the camera so I could look at the little screen.
When he played the footage you could see a shadow, lunging towards me as soon as I opened the door. "What the fuck." I mumbled and rewatched it as a chill ran down my spine.
"That has to be a trick from the lighting, I didn't see anything when I opened the door." I said, trying to debunk it. "Maybe, but it's still fucking horrifying." He said as we made our way to the main lobby again.
"Yeah, maybe a little. Let's just not split up or separate again." I said as he nodded, "great plan." He said then started to go through his bag, pulling out the equipment we were going to use tonight.
"Are you guys sure you want to go to the woman's wing first?" Colby asked as we each grabbed a flashlight and a mask.
"I'm down for anything." I said as Daisy laughed, "I want to go to the woman's wing." She said as I rolled my eyes slightly. I knew she was just trying to come off as tough for the guys but I didn't necessarily think it was a good idea to go there first of all places.
Something felt wrong.
"Alright, let's go then. It's this way." Sam said and led the way. He and Colby walking in front of us as they started talking to the camera.
"What are you trying to do, Dais." I said as she shrugged, "ghost hunt." She said as I laughed. "Well yeah, but I thought you were scared of doing this kind of thing." I said as she shrugged.
"I don't know. I guess I like the thrill of it. I just want to get the worst part over with though." She said as I nodded. She did have a point.
I wasn't really scared of much, but the idea of possibly being hurt by an unknown force wasn't exactly my cup of tea, but I was willing to push my fear aside for this.
"Alright, I think we should maybe try and do an EVP session." Sam suggested as I nodded. "Sounds good." I said then handed him the recorder, "oh, you can hold it. We want you to be a part of this." Sam said with a warm smile. "Okay, then. Let's get started." I said then looked at the camera that Colby was pointing at me.
"Is anyone here?" I asked as we stopped in the middle of the hallway. "When did you die?" Sam asked after a few seconds of silence.
"We're you a patient here?" Daisy asked as a chill ran down my spine.
"Come here." A voice said from behind me causing me to drop the recorder and turn around. "Woah, are you okay?" Colby asked as he handed Sam the camera.
"Yeah, sorry." I mumbled then picked the recorder up and turned around. "You're trembling, are you sure you're okay?" He asked as I handed him the recorder.
"She's fine." Daisy said as I nodded, "I'm fine." I said then bundled my sleeves into my hands. "Give us a sign that you're here." I said then waited, but nothing happened.
"Okay, that was good, maybe we should just try to explore a little bit." Sam said as I nodded. I couldn't shake the feeling of someone watching me as we all walked down the hallway.
As I was walking something caught my eye, causing me to walk into one of the rooms.
In the room there was a bed that looked as if it has been touched in hundreds of years. There was journal on the bed though that looked brand new.
I picked it up and brushed through the pages. Something about the book seemed so familiar to me, almost as if I had seen it before.
I read through the pages, not realizing that I was now alone.
Not completely alone though.
"Get out." I heard next to me causing me to shriek. "Violet!?" Colby yelled as he came jogging into the room. "I-" I started but couldn't get the words out since I was shaking so bad.
"Hey, it's okay." He said then pulled me into his arms just as the door slammed.
We were trapped.
