"How do I look? Super professional?" I asked as I stood in the foyer, smoothing out the black skirt Kat let me have.
Today I was going for a job interview to be an echocardiologist at a local hospital. I had been on so many interviews in the past 3 weeks that I couldn't even count them. Nobody wanted to hire me though because I was young and inexperienced. I had a good feeling about today though.
"You look really good, Vi." Colby said with a small smile as I grabbed my bag. "Thank you." I said then let out a deep breath. "Okay. I better go so I'm not late." I said and grabbed my bag as he looked me up and down.
"Call me when you get out, I wanna hear all about it." Colby said then pulled me to him by my waist and kissed me. I smiled against his lips, letting him kiss me for a second before I pulled away.
"I will. Love you." I said then opened the front door, "Love you too, V." He said as I walked out into the LA sun.
It might have been January but it was sunny as ever, the temperature still sitting in the high 70s. I liked the weather being nice, don't get me wrong, but I was really starting to miss the snow.
I sighed and got in my car, blasting the A/C so I wouldn't sweat my makeup off. I listened to the playlist Colby put together for me because it calmed the nerves that were bubbling in my chest.
I didn't mind job interviews, but they always made me a little nervous for some reason. I was good at showcasing my talents while keeping calm under pressure but I didn't like being sized up. I didn't like knowing that someone was looking for my weaknesses.
LA traffic was frustrating per usual which only made me miss Colorado more. I shook my head and focused on the music I was listening to.
I got to the hospital ten minutes early which would give me plenty of time to find where I was supposed to go.
"You can do this, Vi. You've got this." I said to myself in the mirror above my seat then got out of the car.
I found where I was supposed to go then walked to the desk. "Hi, my name is Violet Richards and I'm here for an interview." I said to the pretty blonde. "Oh! Okay yeah, I'll send Ryan out to get you shortly. Just take a seat here." She said with a smile and pointed towards the waiting area.

I nodded then sat down and started going through my resume to make sure everything looked good. A couple minutes later a man wearing a suit and white coat opened the door.
"Violet?" He asked as I nodded and stood up. "That's me." I said with a smile as he held his hand out for me to shake. "It's nice to meet you, I'm Ryan." He said as I shook his hand. "It's nice to meet you, too." I said as he opened the door for me to go to the back.
He led the way to the small office that we would have the interview in. "So, tell me a little bit about yourself, Violet." He said and sat down in the chair across from me.
"Well, I grew up in Ohio then decided to move to Colorado when I was 21. I worked as an echocardiologist and nursing assistant for about a year before I found myself moving to LA." I said with a smiled as he nodded.
"What brought you to LA?" He asked and set my resume down on the table next to him. "I moved due to personal reasons." I said as he nodded.
"You got a boyfriend..or you want to become an actress? Maybe a model?" He asked as my face scrunched with confusion. "Excuse me?" I asked being taken back by the question.
"Oh come on a sexy little thing like you doesn't come to LA to be a nurse." He said as I immediately tensed up. "Well I did. Why I moved here is none of your business." I said feeling defensive.
"Oh come on, I'm just interviewing you. Relax." He said and put his hand on my thigh. "I didn't give you permission to touch me." I said and stopped his hand from going up my skirt. "I'm the head cardiologist. I don't need permission." He said as I clenched my jaw.
"Don't fucking touch me." I seethed as I yanked his hand from my leg and stood up, grabbing my bag. I reached for the door handle but before I could Ryan grabbed my arm.
"Let go of me you fucking creep!" I yelled as he put his hand over my lips. "How about if you help me..with some tension...I'll give you a job." He said as I yanked my arm away from him. "Get the fuck away from me." I growled then yanked my resume from the table that was next to him.
"Fine, good luck getting a job then bitch." He said as I reached for the door. "I don't need to fuck someone to get a job. I'm fucking smart and talented. I don't need to use my body when I can just use my brain. You're a fucking creep and I will be reporting this." I said the stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind me.

I stormed down the hallway as my body shook with both fear and adrenaline. I didn't speak to anyone or stop moving for any reason. I just needed to get to the car.
When I got in the car I locked it and immediately started driving. I could feel my whole body tremble as I relived the experience in my head.
Did I do or say anything that would warrant that? Was this just how it was in LA? Or was he just a creep?
I didn't realize I was crying until the tears dripped onto my bare thighs. I hated that I was crying but the adrenaline had worn off and now I was just scared and uncomfortable.
Traffic wasn't nearly as bad so I got home fairly fast. When I got inside I immediately went to my room so I could get changed and cry in peace.
It didn't last long though because as I was pulling my sweatpants up I heard a light knock on the door. "Vi? Is everything okay?" Colby asked as I walked over to the door, opening it.
He took in my appearance and frowned as I threw myself into him, hiding my face in his chest as I cried. "I'm sorry, Vi...I know it's frustrating." Colby said as he smoothed my hair down, attempting to calm me down.
"No...he tried to touch me." I sobbed out as he tensed up. "What?" He asked and pulled away slightly so he could see my face. "Who tried to touch you?" He asked as anger coated his voice.
"The guy who interviewed me..he..he tried to put his hand up my skirt." I said and wiped my cheeks. "Are you okay? Did he do anything to you? I'm gonna kill him." Colby said as he examined my body. "I'm okay, just...I don't know...I stood up for myself but did I do something wrong?" I asked as he shook his head.
"No, baby...you didn't do anything wrong." He said and kissed my forehead. "We have to report this though." He said as I nodded and turned to finish getting changed.
After a couple minutes I had mostly calmed down. Colby sat on the bed and pulled his phone out so he could help me report this to the authorities. I chewed on my sleeve as I watched him talk to the guy on phone.
"What was his name, V?" Colby asked quietly, "Ryan. I don't know his last name but he's the head cardiologist." I said and hugged my knees tightly against my chest.
After a couple minutes of being on the phone Colby eventually hung up. "Are you okay?" He asked as I nodded. "Yeah, I'm okay. Now I'm just frustrated that I didn't get a job." I said as Colby frowned.
"Don't worry about that. Just keep trying, I know it's hard to get a job out here." He said as I nodded and stood up. "Come on, let me make us some dinner." I said quietly and reached my hand out for him to grab.
I had sort of become a personal chef for the guys but I didn't mind. Tonight I was making tacos with rice and beans.
Colby has slowly been learning how to cook but he mostly just keeps me company while I cooked.
We were almost done with everything when Sam came into the kitchen. "Mmm something smells amazing." He said as I smiled softly.
"It almost done, I just have to wait for this rice to finish cooking." I said as Colby set out all the toppings. "Thanks Vi." He said then sat down.
Sam and Colby started talking about some video they were going to film as I finished setting things up for dinner.
"Hey, V?" Colby asked, catching my attention. "What's up?" I asked as I spooned some sour cream into a bowl. "Did you want to come filming with us? I think it will take your mind off of things." He said as I grinned.
"Where are you filming?" I asked as he smiled at me. "We wanted to go to some abandoned house in the woods. It's supposedly haunted." Sam said as I shrugged.
"I'm down." I said then gestured to the food, "Come eat." I said then got myself a glass of water. "You really wanna come with us?" Sam asked as I nodded. "Yeah, can't be worse then the asylum, right?" I asked as Colby chuckled. "No, it can't." He said as they got some food for themselves.
"Then it's settled, Violet's coming with us." Sam said as I smiled.
I was a little nervous to go but Colby was right, it would get my mind off of things.
This was going to be fun.
