《Lucky》79

A couple more days have passed and I was still feeling like straight ass. I was finally able to get the neck brace off though which was the best feeling I've ever felt in my life.

I finally convinced Colby that he could go home and sleep since I knew he was having a hard time sleeping on the couch. It warmed my heart that he was sweet enough to sleep on a rock hard couch for almost two weeks just so I wouldn't be alone.

"Violettttt." Sophia sang as she came into my room. "Yes?" I asked as I colored in the coloring book Colby got me. "How would you feel...about going home today?" She asked as a giant smile bloomed on my face.

"Really?" I asked with excitement as she nodded. "Yep, you'll need to obviously stay in bed for the most part but I think you're strong enough to go home today." Sophia explained as my eyes watered.

I couldn't help but feel a little emotional that I was getting to go home. I missed my mountain canvas. I missed my bed. I missed everything about not being in the hospital.

"Is Colby free to pick you up?" Sophia asked as I nodded slowly. "Yeah, he's probably on his way now honestly." I said then looked at the clock. He usually showed up around 10am which was monumental because that boy loves sleeping in.

"Perfect, I'll get your paperwork done then you'll be free to go." She said as I smiled widely. "Thank you! When can you expect me back at work?" I asked as she rolled her eyes. "You're such a workaholic. Let's get that heart to be a little stronger, then we can talk about you coming back." She said with a smile as I nodded.

"I'll be back better than ever. I promise." I said as she pat my leg. "I know you will." She said then turned to leave as the door opened, revealing Colby.

"Hey, baby." I said and opened my arms to him. "Someone's in a good mood today." He said then gave me a hug. "Guess what." I said as he pulled away then grabbed my cheeks and kissed me.

"What?" Colby asked as soon as he pulled away. "I get to go home today." I said with a smile as he grinned widely. "No shit?" He asked as I shook my head. "No shit." I said as he kissed me again. I melted into his kiss, lacing my fingers through his hair as he moaned into my mouth.

I giggled then pulled away, putting my hand on his chest. "Still recovering, babe." I said as he nodded. "I know, I just can't help myself sometimes." He said then looked down at the coloring book in my lap.

"You know you're supposed to color in the lines right?" He asked as I laughed. It was one of those adult coloring books that had a million lines on it. I started by taking my time and coloring each space perfectly but then got bored and started coloring all over the lines.

"I'm fucking bored, man. Coloring in the lines is boring." I huffed as he chuckled. "I understand. I don't even imagine how you're feeling." He said as I shrugged.

"Right now I'm happy because I get to go home. I wish I could adventure a little more but I miss my bed." I said as Sophia came back in with the paperwork for me to fill out.

"Well when you recover we can go on plenty of adventures." Colby said as I Sophia smiled sympathetically at me. "Just don't rush the process, okay V?" Sophia asked as I nodded. "I won't, no matter how badly I want to." I said with a sigh as I started filling out the paperwork.

Colby texted the guys, telling them I was coming home today. It was adorable how excited he was about me coming home.

Once I finished the paperwork I looked over at Colby, "Go get the car, baby. I'm going home!" I said excitedly as I brought my hands to my cheeks. My chest was still hurting a lot but I had almost gotten used to the pain, except for when I would move too fast. Then it hurt a lot.

"Alright, I'll be right back." Colby said then kissed me before jogging out of the room. As soon as he was gone I carefully sat up and swung my feet over the bed so I could get in the wheelchair.

Aisha came into the room as I stood up, "Woah! Let me help you." She said then helped me stand up straight. "I don't need help." I said then yanked my arm away from her. "Violet, I know you're headstrong but you want to go home right?" She asked as I sat down in the chair.

"More than anything." I said as she handed my my coloring book and teddy bear, "Then you can't rupture those stitches. Take the help now so you can get better faster." She said as I nodded.

I hated that she was right, because I hated feeling so vulnerable. I wanted to be more independent again.

I sighed then hugged Mr. Goober as she wheeled me out of the room and towards the elevator. "I'm gonna miss you, ya know." Aisha said as the elevator door closed.

"I'll be back at work before you know it." I said with a grin as she smiled, "I can't wait." She said as we walked towards the main entrance where Colby would pull up.

As soon as the fresh air hit my skin I could feel the happiness swell in my chest. It felt so good to be free again.

Colby pulled up to the curb then got out of the car so he could open my door. "Can you hold these, babe?" I asked and held out the teddy bear and coloring book. "Yeah." Colby said then took them so he could put them in the backseat.

I stood up slowly with the help of Aisha then took a couple steps so I could get in the car. Colby helped me get in the car then crouched down as I let out a shaky breath. "I'm great, let's go." I said then looked at Aisha. "Bye, V! Miss you already!" She said then blew me a kiss as I smiled and waved.

Colby closed my door then got in the drivers seat. "Ready to go?" He asked and took my hand. "More than ready." I said with a smile as he brought my hand to his lips. "Let's go then." He said then started driving.

I rolled the window down, then put my hand out of the window and smiled at the feeling of the wind on my hand. I missed nature so much, being pent up in a hospital room.

"Can we go hiking when I'm better?" I asked as Colby chuckled. "We can do whatever you want. I already have something planned for you." He said as I smiled. "What is it?" I asked as he chuckled. "I suddenly don't remember." He said as I rolled my eyes. "You're annoying." I said as he pulled into the driveway.

"I'm so happy!" I squealed as Colby chuckled, "I love seeing you this happy." He said as I reached for my door handle. "Woah, hold on a second." He said as I groaned. "Come on, grandpa. I wanna see my painting." I said as he grinned then got out of the car so he could open my door for me.

Colby helped me get out of the car then helped me get inside. "We're home!" Colby exclaimed as Kat squealed from the kitchen. "Come in here! We have a surprise!" Sam yelled as I scrunched my brow. "Did you know about this surprise?" I asked as he shrugged. "I don't know." He said as I rolled my eyes.

"Let's go." I said then started walking towards the kitchen without his help. "Violet, you suck at being careful." Colby hissed as I laughed. "Bro, I'm just walking. I'm fine." I said then walked towards the kitchen as he wrapped his arm around my waist.

When we got to the kitchen Sam was pulling something out of the oven as Kat stood in the middle of the kitchen with a smile on her face. "What's that?" I asked and pointed to the pan Sam was holding.

"Mac and cheese." He said simply as I smiled, "I love Mac and cheese...wait...you didn't..." I said as tears formed in my eyes. "We found the recipe in your book." Sam said quietly as he pointed to my cookbook.

They really took the time to research and make my mom's Mac and cheese recipe.

They took the time to go to the store and pick the ingredients out then cook them so I just have a little piece of my mom with me when I got home.

I didn't deserve that kind of love.

"That's so sweet..." I whispered as my heart swelled. "We suck at cooking so it's probably not gonna be as good, but we tried." Kat said as I wiped the tears that were trailing down my cheeks.

"It's the thought that counts...thank you...thank you so much." I said then leaned into Colby. "Let's get you to bed." He said quietly as I nodded and let him guide me to my bedroom.

As soon as I walked into my room I felt happiness bloom in my chest again. The snowy mountain canvas looked even more beautiful than I remembered.

I laid in my bed then sighed with relaxation as I melted into the mattress. My bed was softer and warmer than I remembered too.

Sam came into the room a couple minutes later with a bowl of Mac and cheese for me. "Thanks, Sam." I said then grabbed and forkful and put it in my mouth after blowing on it.

"This is amazing...you guys are seriously too sweet." I said as he grinned. "We love you, V." He said as I smiled. "I love you guys, too." I said quietly, feeling emotional.

I was just really glad to be home.
