Colby's POV

When I got out of the elevator I looked around, realizing I wasn't on the first floor. "Wait, did we mess up?" I asked then turned to look at the guys and Violet. My heart stopped when I looked back to see an empty elevator.

"Guys?! It's not funny. Don't fuck with me like this." I said then started walking down the hallway, hoping they were hiding somewhere.

"I'm serious!" I yelled as someone opened one of the doors that was in the hallway. A woman who looked like she belonged in the twenties opened the door and peered out. She looked at me like I was crazy then huffed. "Please be quiet. I'm trying to get beauty sleep." She said then backed into the room and slammed the door.

What the fuck?

"Violet? Guys?" I called out quieter this time. "Elizabeth!" A man whispered yelled as he peered his head out of a room at the end of the hallway. "I'm coming dear!" A woman said from behind me with a giggle as she brushed passed me.

A chill ran down my spine as the realization hit.

I wasn't in 2020 anymore...the elevator game worked.

My heart leaped out of my chest at the thought of being alone right now. The others had to be around here somewhere right?

"Okay...just go down to the lobby..maybe they are there." I said to myself then went to the elevator. I was really tripped out because everything looked the exact same as before, except for the people.

Was I seeing ghosts or was I just hallucinating. I surely had to be hallucinating...there was no way this was real.

I took deep breaths as the elevator descended to the lobby. I kept praying that when the door opened I would be in present time with the guys and Violet. I prayed that this was the end of the crazy.

When the doors opened I felt my heart drop when I saw the fashion of the people in the lobby. They were all dressed in old garb, not in present day clothes.

I tried to keep calm as I searched through the crowd, hoping to see any of my friends. I let my eyes fall on every person, taking in their features, but didn't recognize anyone until I saw a ravenhaired girl in the corner of the room.

I could only see the back of her but I could recognize that body from a mile away.

"Violet!" I called out then ran to her. When I got close enough I pulled at her shoulder so she would face me. When she turned around she looked at me with confusion plastered on her face.

"Can I help you?" She asked with confusion lacing her tone. "Violet...it's Colby.." I said and took in her features. Her face looked the exact same, but her makeup was done to perfection. Her freckles were covered, giving her skin a porcelain quality. Her plump lips were a deep red color and her hair was in an updo.

"My name isn't Violet..I'm Rose.." She said and looked down at my hands which were holding hers. "If you want to touch me you have to pay." She said then pulled her hand back.

"O-oh." I said as I shoved my hands in my pockets. "Um..can you tell me what year it is?" I asked as she chuckled and reached into her bag so she could reapply her lipstick.

"What do I look like? A newspaper? Now scram, unless you're going to be my next customer." She said then undid the top buttons of her coat as I swallowed hard.

I couldn't comprehend what was happening so I just walked away. I didn't like what was happening but I sure as hell didn't want to stick around to see other guys flirting with my girlfriend.

I sighed and went to pull my phone out but when I went to unlock it the screen was black and it wouldn't turn on. "Great." I mumbled as I bumped into someone.

"Sam?" I asked when my eyes met Sam's blue orbs. "Charlie?" He asked as I shook my head. "No...Colby." I said as he chuckled. "Weird name. You remind me of my friend Charlie. I'm Jonathan." He said and held his hand out for me to shake.

"Can you tell me what year it is?" I asked and shook his hand. "Hm...ya know I've actually lost track." He said then shrugged and walked away.

I felt my heart race again as I looked around. The more I looked the more I noticed that most of the people here weren't completely solid.

Some of them were missing feet and floating around while others were completely solid. "I need to get out of here." I mumbled then went towards the elevator again. As I walked though Corey caught my eye. I knew it wasn't really him though because of the clothes he was wearing so I didn't even bother trying to talk to him.

It made me wonder if they were in here somewhere or if I was the only one trapped. When I got into the elevator I went to pull my phone out again so I could look up the instructions on how to get out of here.

I was paying attention enough to understand what we were doing but not enough to do it by myself if I had to.

I clicked on my phone screen, forgetting that it was either dead or not working. When it wouldn't wake up I groaned and threw my head back.

"Think Colby....think." I mumbled then closed my eyes, concentrating on how the game is played. I felt my hands start to shake as anxiety rippled through my body.

How the hell was I supposed to get out of here without the instructions. I needed Sam.

We always worked better together.

As soon as I was about to click a button for the elevator a man walked on. He was wearing a big trenchcoat and a fedora, making him look like a detective like in the old movies.

His trenchcoat wasn't tan though, which lead me to believe he wasn't a cop or anything. "What floor?" I asked him as he looked at me with cold eyes. "Tenth." He said as I nodded and pushed the button.

I guess I was supposed to start on the tenth floor anyways.

We stood in silence as the elevator brought us up to the tenth floor. I couldn't help but feel intimidated by the man beside me. He seemed like the type that would be in the mafia or something, so being alone in an elevator with him wasn't the most comfortable feeling.

Luckily the doors opened and the guy got out first. He walked with purpose, proving he was someone you didn't want to mess with. I got out of the elevator then peered my head around the corner so I could see him knock on someone's door.

He looked around to see if anyone was watching causing me to duck out of the way as my heart started beating out of my chest.

After a second I heard a door open and close, leaving me alone in the hallway again. I sighed then started to pace the halls looking at the pictures. Every picture was the same, even the one that was of Elizabeth Short.

My heart stopped as my eyes widened. When I first got out of the elevator a guy had called for someone named Elizabeth. Was that the Elizabeth?

I sucked in a breath then walked down the hallway again, trying to remember what room they went into.

I didn't have much time to process what was going on before I heard screaming and crying coming from one of the rooms. I gasped as the sound of a gunshot rang through my ears.

I shook my head then ran down the hallway as fast as I could and as far away from the room as possible.

I heard someone open the door, then I heard something heavy being dragged from the room.

They just killed the Black Dahlia.

I felt my stomach ache at the realization that I just witnessed the most famous murder of all time.

"It's just a figment of your imagination Colby...this isn't real...you're okay." I mumbled to myself as I paced the little room I was in.

It was real though. I was really trapped in some weird alternate reality with no way out. I would never see Sam or Violet or Jake or Corey again unless I figured out a way to get out of here.

It wasn't an option though.

I had to get out of here.
