《Fuck you Fred (a Fred Weasley love story)》Chapter Six: Sobering Solution

Miranda's POV
The next morning I woke up with a pounding head. Slowly but surely I dragged myself out of bed and headed to the bathroom to grab some water, but before I could take a step further Angelina came out of nowhere and shoved a potion down my throat. As soon as it hit my mouth the headache left my body and I regained some much-needed balance, ah, thank god for the sobering solution.
I tried to rethink the events of last night but they seem to be fading and so I let it go. Just as I was heading to the bathroom I heard a voice shouting toward me.
"Oh and Miranda, Frankie told us all about your wrestling match with a certain 6' foot '3 red-head!" Alicia called from the far side of the room. The events of last night hit me like a truck. Fred.
I am so glad we made up after that train incident and even gladder we have an inside joke. He lost our little wrestling match. Total loser. I couldn't help but feel a smirk slowly creeping across my face. I wonder if he remembers last night too.
I pick myself up again and wander to the bathrooms.

Fred's POV
I woke up with an intense hungover feeling, I grabbed a small navy vial of sobering solution, quickly gulping it down. Everything seemed a little clearer now.
I remember most of last night.. although some parts seemed a little blurry. One part I remembered the most was... reconnecting with Miranda Benson aka Benny. I used to be such good friends with her when we first started school so it was good to sort out our issues. I just wish I could be her friend again. Last year was absolute rubbish fooling around with so many girls. I think I need to stick to my studies this year.
Over the summer when Hermione was at the burrow told her that I wanted to get my grades up instead of well...I left that part out. I am naturally gifted but having good marks is something I need this year, of course, she had a whole handbook of teachers and their style of teaching at the age of 13. She had even studied some of my coursework and offered to help me. I declined appreciatively. I don't want anyone knowing I'm worried about school though, that would completely ruin my swag, I can't have that.

As I walked out of the dorm I look to my left to see George and Lee still passed out from last night. I assume they will skip today. I thought it would be best to get ready for class, my first class was charms and I know Professor Flitwick likes to introduce the coursework in the first lesson. I decided to hurry up and let them sleep.
As I take my first step outside I run straight into a body that at least a head smaller than me. Miranda.
"He Benny," I said in a friendly tone.
"Hello, Freddie, I see you are waking up late as well," Miranda replied.
"Yes and skipping, breakfast, to save the time of course," I said.
"You simply can't! You know breakfast is the most important meal of the day! And today is the most important day of the year making it extra important" Miranda giggles.
I grin widely, gazing at her. Does she remember last night?
It's as if Miranda read my mind; she added, "And, yes, I remember last night... loser"
I laugh as she starts to walk away. I grab her wrist. "Hey, Benny"
"Yes?"
"I am really glad we are friends again I missed you a lot last year, I getting my priorities straight though, I wanted you to know." By surprise, I feel small arms wrapping around my body. "I so glad we are friends again as well." Miranda laughed. She squeezed me tightly and then released herself from my body.
"I will see you in Charms first period Fred, don't be late!" Miranda said half reminding me and half reminding herself. I agreed with a small smile and waved as she headed in the other direction.

Miranda's POV
I get out of the shower and put on my robes and first-day fluffy socks. I cast a quick-drying charm on my hair and run to my room to grab my shoes. My books are laid neatly in a pile on my bed. Alica. I stuff them into my shoulder bag and spray some of my signature Vanilla perfume.

I reach the great hall at 8:30 with around 75% of the students still in the hall. I see my friends and start walking over to them to say good morning. I "Hi guys how are we feeling this morning?" I said leaning over them to grab an apple."
"Fine" they reply in unison. I take a bite of my apple.
"Thank god for the sobering solution!" Alica exclaims a little too loudly.
"Shhhhh" Angelina hushes. We get a few curious looks but the people are easily distracted by a new conversation with their friends.
"If I may ask Angelina why did you get so drunk last night?" Frankie asked stifling a laugh. Alica snorted and I smirked
"Maybe I needed it to drown my many sorrows" Angelina stated proudly trying to keep a straight face.
"I need to dash but it was lovely talking to you see you in Charms! Oh, and thank you for laying my books out Alica your the best!" I uttered softly
"Bye Randy we love you" Frankie replied as the rest smiled brightly.
With my apple clutched in my hand I headed up to the third floor to the Charms class. Professor Flitwick is my favourite teacher I love being early in his classes.
To my surprise, as I opened the door I saw a familiar redhead in class 15 minutes early. "Fred?" He had the textbook opened and his finger was tracing the lines of the page. When he looked up and saw me he closed the book swiftly and ushered me to come and it next to him. "What are you doing here early?" I questioned sitting down in the seat next to him and taking out my books. "If you must know. I had some extra time on my hands and this quiet classroom is the perfect place to think about a plan for my next prank." He sighed happily
"Looks to me you were reading" I enquired with curiosity.
"Me? Reading? Couldn't be." Fred mocked.
***
All my classes for today have gone great. I have laughed with my friends talked to my favourite professor about how his summer was and spent some time bonding with Fred, George and Lee.
The last class, unfortunately, was Potions. A subject every Gryffindor hates except for maybe Hermione Granger. The reason for this unanimous house hatred was Professor Snape. Head of Slytherin and an anti-Gryffindor.
I braced myself for the darkness of his classroom and the colliding smells of ingredients. I took a seat in between Frankie and Angelina and started copying down the notes on the board. Everyone in this class has tried hard to get in. Snape only excepts O OWL (Ordinary Wizarding Levels) examination results to make his class in the sixth year.
I needed to take potions in order to become a healer (my desired job) and Frankie needed this class to give her knowledge for her future shop and Angelina... is just always going above and beyond taking more classes than I can count. As for Alica... she didn't quite make it into potions. Alica wasn't the brightest in the group but she makes up for it with her kind and loving personality.
I turned around to see Fred stumbling into the classroom, I wonder how he got good enough makes for this class, he was clearly occupied last year. I catch myself being mean in my own head and mentally slap myself. He is my friend now, I can't ruin that.
He takes the empty seat near the back of the class and I shoot him a quick smile, he replicates the action and starts writing down the notes on the board.

In his new reality, he will meet both friends and foe, he will seek knowledge, he will build power, and perhaps he will even find love again? Follow Alan through his adventures, and find out for yourselves how he deals with the challenges thrown at him by a new world, while struggling with the issues brought with him from his old one. * Author’s note: A fair warning. This is the first time I’ve published anything, and basically the first time I’ve written anything more than mandatory school-stuff. The story will probably have inconsistencies, grammatical errors (not my native tongue, though that excuse is getting old), and potentially confusing (missing?) plot. I will naturally do my best to write something worth reading, but my main goal in writing this story is to have fun and explore the limits of my own creativity. My hope in publishing it here, is that I’ll reach someone who enjoy the story, and can push me forward towards writing more, as it is difficult at times to find the motivation to write just for myself. Additionally, I can’t really promise to have regular updates, as I have a full-time job that often likes to take the ‘full-time’ part literally, and a sporadic social life that occasionally surprises me (happy surprises mostly, so I shouldn’t complain). I’ll aim for once a week to start with, and take it from there. Happy reading! Cover photo by Jeff Hire (/photographer/gun4hire-58415), from https://freeimages.com/.
