《Fuck you Fred (a Fred Weasley love story)》Chapter Thirteen: Fireworks

I was walking in my long white dress. There was small straps arching over my back and a lace-covered chest piece. The dress flowed down my body accentuated my waist and made me feel like a princess.
I could hear the music. I could feel my feet moving. But where was I going? I just need to look.
My vision cleared. I was walking down an aisle with people standing on either side of it and smiling largely at me. Wait. I know what this is. I know where I am.
This is my wedding.
But who am I... but as I think these thoughts crashed like waved over my head I looked forward to seeing who was standing where I was walking to. I should have guessed it. Fred.
I gasped for air as I woke up... it was a dream. Oh my god, it was a dream I just had a dream about for Fred Weasley.
"Hey, are you okay?" Frankie asked
"Yeah, I'm fine bad dream," I replied
"Well, today's the big day! Are you excited?"
I hadn't thought about it and it took me a while to realise what she meant... today was the day of the big surprise.
"Frankie, I'm so not ready. Please help."
Angelina and Alicia weren't in the dorm at the moment, Angelina normally read quidditch in the mornings so I assumed Alicia was in the shower. I put on my black robes and clean, fresh school uniform for the day. I felt at home in this uniform.
This dorm. This place. This school. These people. Everything around me felt like my family. My real family had problems a while ago, that I don't plan on telling anyone and we haven't talked about since. Some things you just can't say out loud. I sometimes think about it late at night but apart from that, it seems irrelevant. I don't know if I will ever talk about it again.
One thing I do know for sure though is that I love surprises, even if they are coming from Fred Weasley. If he was actually surprising me that is.
Frankie wanted me to look nice and she offered to do my hair. I don't really like getting dressed up but obliged for the sake of her happiness. Although I do have to admit I did look pretty nice. My hair was pulled into a half up half down braid style due, one of Frankie's extravagant talents.

When Alicia returned from the shower she told me how lovely I looked which definitely brightened up my morning already. A few moments later we are all heading down to the common room where we saw Angelina and picked her up to go to breakfast.
My feet walked in front of one and other. I was nervous walking through the halls. Was someone gonna jump out at me? I felt like someone was watching me the whole time. But probably just being paranoid. I kept walking. The stone floor of the castle always made me feel grand with my steps loud and defined but this time my steps were booming.
It was time to go into the Great Hall I turned the corner and... nothing was there.
Although I was not expecting much, seeing nothing at all was a little disappointing. I thought Fred would be here but even he was nowhere to be found.
There was a long, sad silence between my friends and I and it was only cured when Angelina piped up and said: "Let's eat shall we."
I started eating my breakfast, three slices of toast with butter and jam. The more I thought about the angrier I got. How dare he get me all exhilarated for nothing. It was such a shitty thing to do. He put me in a shitty situation.
I scoffed down the rest of my toast and started gathering my books together to go to my class. Maybe today wasn't going to be a good one.
As I got up to leave the great hall I heard something thing in the distance. The ground shook a little bit to a rhythm. Whatever I was hearing it was getting closer. Some of the students turned their heads around.
"What is that sound?" Frankie said
"I don't know but I am going to class" I muffled.
"No sit back down" Frankie pulled my wrist and sat me back down. I rolled my eyes. Hopefully, this won't take to long, I don't know how much longer I can spend sitting in this hall.
Suddenly bursting through the doors was... a marching band. Wait a second, a marching band! My hand flew over my mouth in surprise; this was the surprise. I looked round to my friends at the table and they all smiled widely before carrying on watching the whole episode play out.
There were snare drums, tenor drums, bass drums, and cymbals all crashing together in a strict beat. The band walked in between Ravenclaw and Gryffindor, the centre aisle. The lead coordinator at the front of the line looked oddly familiar... Oh my god, it's the Hufflepuff girl that Fred was talking to the other night. I looked over to her and she smiled brightly at me.

George and Lee walked in at once seeming to be holding long striped tubes, muttering spells under their breath and the tubes disappearing. They quickly ran down to their seats with George sitting near Alica and Lee on the other side. The marching band stopped playing.
Fred walked in and the whispers started amongst the students. The marching band stepped aside for him providing him with a clear path to walk through. I looked at Fred, he was smiling wide and he caught my eye intensively. When I didn't look away Fred's smile got even bigger. I caught a quick glance at Lee, George and my roommates and I saw everyone's grins almost as wide as Fred's.
Fred looked amazing like sunshine was glowing through him. More beautiful than ever.
When he reached me he didn't say a word but instead snapped his fingers so that an array of fireworks appeared above his head, the shone the words;
Y U L E B A L L ?
Fred dropped down on one knee. God, this man is dramatic. "Miranda Benson will you do me the absolute honour of going to the Yule Ball with me."
Fuck it.
"You know what, yes I would love to" I replied standing up. He stood up too. Fred's chocolate brown eyes stared into mine with awe. His face was happier than ever and it made him look so. fucking. hot.
Everyone looked at us, they could fill the tension, in fact, even the teachers were on the edge of their seats.
I put my hands on the side of his face and leaned in to kiss him, to finally kiss him again. An action which I had thought about doing over and over since the first night that it happened. Fred looked at me before swerving me completely, dodging my kiss. That arsehole. The whole hall 'oohed' in awkwardness.
"What the fuck Fred." I whispered to him.
Then he started to giggle just a little as he turned back to me. He smiled again. My blood was boiling. This is humiliating. My face was turning a deep shade of crimson. I looked down for a second but felt Fred's soft hand on my chin. He lifted my head up.
"Come on now darling I'm only joking." I smiled. What a bastard, I-.
Before another thought could enter my mind Fred pounded his lips onto mine. I melted under his direct touch. I wanted this moment to last forever. He tasted like sunshine. Fred's arms slipped around my waist and mine around his neck before I pulled away and the fireworks went off, the big ones this time.
I looked up.
They were bright colours of red, pink, blue, gold and purple. They lit up the entire hall and everyone was looking up too. Except for Fred, he was still looking at me, just me.
I leaned closer to him, into a hug. "So the marching band really did it for you, huh?" Fred uttered into my ear.
"I can't believe you remembered," I said. And I kissed him. Again. Once on the cheek, then the mouth, then the jaw then back to the mouth. My attack of kisses lead him to picking me up just as the fireworks ended. Everyone watched as we left, including Frankie who shouted "Atta boy." Leading the rest of the Gryffindors to go up in cheers.
Fred carried me out of the hall bridal style, with one arm underneath my legs and the other supporting my back as I grabbed onto his neck.
My lips tingled. I felt so alive.
The rest of the hall was in shock but still politely clapping as well as the teachers except for Professor Charity Burbage who had a knowing smug smile on her face as she opened her palm only for Flitwick to place a gallon in it.
