《No Longer In the Fields, 45th Hunger Games (COMPLETED)》Chapter 12

Kernel's POV
I eat dinner and then I watch as the TV turns on. Everyone crowds on the huge sofa, and they include Garner, Chester, my prep team, the escort Nina, Garner's stylist Sharron, Garner's prep team, and our mentors.
My mentor is Marian Greene, who is very brutal. I watched her games and she was right at home, because there were corn fields and wheat fields all around, just like district 9. She hid in the fields and slaughtered four people using her pitchfork, and her approach is to kill everyone, no allies or anything, and I guess I've already broken that rule, because I'm part of an alliance, so sorry Marian. Garner's mentor is Daniel Bernhardt, and he is a strong and tough looking guy, just like Garner. Him and Garner get along really well, and I heard that he had an ally during his games. It was his district partner, who was also his girlfriend, and she died right in his arms, and I think everyone in the capitol cries when they see his games.
"Hello everyone, and welcome, to the ratings of the 45th annual hunger games!" Calls out Caesar Flickerman on the TV. "Now, let us start with district 1!" The boy from 1 gets a nine, a pretty high score, and the girl gets a 7. The 2's both get a 10. The boy from 3 gets a 6, while the girl gets a 9. The 4's both get 11's, which is amazing. My allies, the 5's do well, as Jo gets an 8, and Spark gets a 10, they are definitely ones to watch out for. The boy from 6 gets a 3, and the girl gets a 6. The boy from 7 gets a 9, and the girl gets a 4. The 8's both get 6's. Then it's Garner, who gets a score of...9. Everyone is excited, and his stylist, prep team, and Daniel all jump up and high five each other. Then it was me, and everyone became silent again. "Kernel Fonio," said Caesar, "with a score of...8." It wasn't as good as Garner, but everyone congratulated me, and everyone walked away, except me and Marian. "Lets see your other competition." Says Marian, who is smiling. Colt got a 7, and his district partner got a 10! I was impressed. The 11's then came, and the girl got a 4, and the boy got a 7, not bad. The 12's then went and they each got 5, and then they ended it. "Well, interviews are tomorrow, and then it's the games." Marian said, and I nodded, and I immediately crash out on my bed.

Release Schedule: 5 chapters/week, from Monday to Friday (01:15 PM, GMT-3) Throughout the years, countless powerful beings rose and fell. As powerful as they were, their lifespan had an end. The universe is fair. Beings whose power was enough to shatter planets in countless pieces wailed in the cosmos, feeling that while the universe being fair was a blessing, it was also a curse! They trained for thousands, even tens of thousands of years to reach their current strength, but just like mortals, their lifespan also had an end! Countless galaxies away, within Earth, a young man shook his head before looking at the moon worriedly, ''What's the use knowing this... I must deal with my problems, right? Sometimes, knowing everything isn't that useful...'' He, who can see everything, do everything and be everything, was troubled. The universe is fair. That's the only thing most living beings agreed, not expecting unfairness to appear. Diverting his gaze from the moon, the young man looked towards his farm with calm eyes, ''Well, well. I wonder what surprises you'll bring me, my creations...'' This is a story about a lazy creator trying to deal with his problems while getting to know himself better.

St. Charles and the Children from the Sun
This story is a tale classic in its tragedy, about the foibles of Man and how he destroys the things he loves, all to prove himself superior over the Universe. In a quest to defeat Hilter during Wold War II, Winston Churchill and Franklin Deleanor Roosevelt barter with a race of serpents who come from outer space. There are a few inconveniences for the leaders of the West when dealing with these creatures. For one, they can't even talk to them, for the aliens 'speak' by manipulating light. But in exchange for the knowledge of how to build an atomic bomb, all the monsters want from us is to live in peace at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. What could go wrong with that? * * * This story is my entry in The Royal Road Community Magazine Contest * * *

The Due
Every sailor knows the tale of Davy Jones' Locker. That place drowned sailors are sent to, ever resting on sea's bed. Some tales recount of a ghostly ship, the Flying Dutchman. Many a story has spawned from these two tales. Countless retellings mixing in their own fictions. But all stories spawn with a kernel of truth to them, and the story of Davy Jones is no exception. Those who've met the legendary seaman and his ghostly ship might call him a ferryman, escorting the drowned to their respective afterlives. Others might call him a devil, meting punishment on those deserving. The true story is always slightly different. Davy Jones is a ferryman, but not one for the afterlife, as Walter finds out. No, Davy Jones manages those who die at sea while in debt, and Walter died with a lot of debt. Unable to pay, Davy puts Walter to work. The specter has just the job for the dead college graduate. Another god, Sod, needs an afterlife for his new world. Davy tasks Walter with the job. Suddenly, Walter finds himself having to run a fledgling underworld with little instruction from Sod. To top it off, the denizens of Sod's world have their own ambitions to achieve godhood, and they won't take kindly to Sod's newest employee shaking up the status quo. [Traumatizing Content tag is up just to let everyone know this will be a story that deals with different themes of death. Some of them won't be nice and so better to be safe than sorry.]
