《Radha's Krishna》72. ||DUTIES||

Come, beloved.
Let's talk.
Tonight my heart is going places
My body sits here, on the bed of ketaki flowers
Yet my soul traverses lands and oceans known and unknown
Near and far.
Sit, Krishna.
Let's talk.
It's one of those nights
Not idealistic, like the ones described in the lyrical Gita Govinda
But realistic, you know?
There's no full moon
Crickets don't chirp
And the city chokes our throats.
Yet
It's a night.
Our night.
I'm weeping
I'm reeling
Oh, the things I feel
Haunting me in the secret chambers of my body
Is love unexpressed
Suppressed by the mortal duties
I bear on my tender frame.
I'll tell you about my travels tonight.
How each night
Each sleep
Takes me to unknown lands
I see creatures that I've read in books alone
And sit amongst flowers that only the Lord's heaven can enshrine
I never feel like waking up
But like I said
Mortal duties
On my tender frame.
Tell me about your travels, Krishna.
Yes, I've heard them
So many times
That I can recite them
Like hymns engraved on stone slabs
But I'd hear you still
Your valour, unparalled when you took the evil Kansa down
And how you earned the name of beloved Ranchhod-Rai
How you constructed your prized Dwaraka
And don't even get me started on your weddings.
You've always loved
An element of drama.
I often need to vent
Too much happiness
Or too much gloom
Gets overwhelming
You listen, with that everlasting,
Mystic smile.
Nobody asks you if you're okay, Krishna
Which is why
I'm here
And so are my arms
And ears.
I will listen
To what you cherish
And what you regret
For societal expectations from a man are high
From a woman as me, higher
But the same from a God are highest.
The dawn is cracking
I see the sun god on his chariot
Evilly grinning at me
We talked a lot today, Krishna
Visit me again tomorrow?
It's time for me
To get up.
Like I said
Mortal duties...
On my tender frame...

Oblivion Online (complete)
Thanks for permission to use the cover by WanderingInPixels over on Deviant Art. As of 12-15-18, the story is finished. I am planning to edit and will release the books as I finish in one big go, but there isn't a timeline on any of that. Marty had a fairly easy life as a cook for Arctic Storm Entertainment headquarters when he gets an offer from the company to try out a new playstyle for their biggest VRMMORPG, Oblivion Online. Follow him as he makes his way through the game as one of the monster races trying to survive against the forces of light. Author's note: I will update every Monday and Friday for sure, with the possibilities of bonus chapters through the week if I get extra writing done. I also did a disservice to several of my characters early on. I'm slowly working through a re-write, but it will be a while as I want to make sure I get it right this time around.

The Rules of Dungeoneering
The First Rule of Dungeoneering: This will kill you Sylvester Bayes, the 4th son of a small baron, has suddenly had his head filled with the memories and work of someone who had dedicated their life to memorizing every dungeon they could find and designing a new RPG system. Not about to waste these gifts, Sylvester quickly sets out to get rich quick and discover the reasons behind his sudden knowledge. (Please note, this is dressed up actual play from my testing of a tabletop RPG. It is actually how the game has gone and there is a very real chance that anyone, including Sylvester, could die in any encounter. To help make my job easier I am using dungeons written by other people, which is why I have listed this as a fanfiction. I put links to all of them in the chapters where they are relevant.)

A Portal Fantasy Comedy Poem
Mix an adolescent shepherd boy in love with a girl who wants to meet existentialists, a Viscount in need of an adventure, and a bland psychic. Add in a flippant god. Put them in a land made up of the after-lives of various different cultures. Stir gently. Sprinkle in some random Midgard Serpent, Genghis Khan, Scheherazade, and a cussing mocking bird. Fry lightly. Season to taste and serve with desired garnishes. Bon apetit! A comic fantasy poetic epic, filled with misfits, slapstick routines, light romance, people shouting out the names of their battle skills before using them, old philosopher dudes running around naked, a very serious lamb, demonic knitting, battery operated magic swords and even more traumatising stuff! I experimented with different styles in the beginning and finally settled on an ABABBCBC rhyme scheme (Give me your 0.5s. Gimme, gimme, gimme. I'm collecting them, seriously)

Wrong Side of The Severance
In the waning times of a costly war that spanned several firmaments, one world that was supposed to be cherished by the gods was cast to the wayside, and from everyone’s minds. This world - Berodyl - had flourished under the tender love of the gods for millennia… but no longer. Berodyl stood ready to aid the gods in their strife, but when the time came, the armies of this world never heard the call. They never even saw the battlefield. No. Instead, they found that, once the war had begun, the hierophants no longer heard the whispers of their sacred deities whom they had served so faithfully; only silence now filled the halls of their temples. Some even came from beyond Berodyl’s firmament to take to the sides of those who would fight for the gods. Alas, they soon found themselves stranded in a land abandoned— now, too, abandoned themselves. Now there is but one question weighing down on everyone: can a world such as this - a world once loved, now alone - survive with nought but its own? For an outlander such as Livia, the question seems nearly impossible to answer. The first book of The World The Gods Forgot.
