I sit in front of the tv family on the screen

eyes wide, inches closer than i should be

dying to crawl through to the other side

the side where daughters don't wonder

if their mothers hate them

where they not only love their father, but they like him too

where mother's opinion of you is not

your cross to bear

where it is not all that matters

all that gives you worth

where children get Bs and it's an achievement

where it's not so obvious they're so much prouder of him than you

where they hold you,

and tell you everything will be okay

where they shower you in hugs and kisses

simply for existing

where they love you
