Dan's mother sits down on the recliner chair whilst cradling a sleeping Lacey in her arms. Dan and Charlie on the other hand are sitting opposite her, manically smiling. They haven't told her or Dan's father about the engagement, but they definitely want them to be the first to know.

"Sorry, I didn't ask...do you want any biscuits with your tea?" Isla has seem to forgotten about the loss of appetite that Charlie is currently going through. Her stomach can't even process her eating a small tea cake at the moment.

"No thank you."

"Are you sure? I made Rod go and buy some chocolate digestives. You like them." Charlie smiles at the thoughtfulness of her soon to be mother-in-law.

"I'm not really hungry anymore." Charlie can easily go a couple of days without food, which is something she hates. Thinking about all the food she used to adore makes her feel less of a person, the smell of Chinese takeaway now makes her feel sick...and chocolate is the worst.

Isla frowns while Dan laces his fingers through Charlie's.

"Fuck cancer." Isla mumbles while Charlie smiles and nods her head.

"When you go into recovery I am so going to buy the entire Chinese takeaway menu for you." Both Dan and Charlie cracks a smile at Dan's mum. Even she knows about Charlie being a foodie before she got sick.

"I can't wait." Charlie replies with a smile while she leans her head against Dan's shoulder and watches her daughter peacefully sleep from afar.

"When's the last day of filming coming up?" Next month it would've been roughly a year since they've been filming. Although with this film they've been taking many breaks and odd days off, as well as Charlie's cancer diagnosis. However, they've been editing all the footage while they film so the film is due out next month.

"Tomorrow I think..." Charlie says while she then points at Dan.

"But Dan has a more emotional scene than me..." Dan nods his head while his mother looks interested.

"Emotional?"

Charlie shrugs back her shoulders as she doesn't know how to give an appropriate answer without context of the scene. "It's just me in the scene." Dan chimes in while Isla makes an 'ah' noise, although she's still confused.

There's then a brief moment of silence while everyone in the room watches the tele. Dan and Charlie are having a sleepover tonight. While it's not ideal to them, because they're filming tomorrow, they both don't want to get the tube back at this time of night with Lacey.

Even though Charlie has has an oversized jumper on, as well as a top underneath, she shakes uncontrollably. She's the coldest she's ever been, even though the room is nice and toasty. So Charlie being Charlie won't say anything to disturb the peace...she can't wait until Dan decides to say he's going to go to bed so she can follow.

Dan's father, however, can't see Charlie shake for any longer. It brings back memories of when Isla was poorly. So he calmly gets up out of his seat and disappears out of the room.

"Mum..." Dan's voice then trails off.

"Can I turn the heating up..." — his voice trails off — "I'm a little cold" Dan isn't cold, in fact is anything he is near enough boiling. Isla nods her head, knowing that he's lying just for the sake of Charlie. However, oddly enough before Dan can get up he hears the heating warming up.

"It can't be fourteen in here already, can it?" When the temperature hits fourteen the heating automatically comes on. Dan shakes his head at his mother's question as the door to the living room opens up with Dan's dad holding a white double duvet and two pillows.

"Here you go." He says with a gently smiles while he lowers the cover over Charlie. Gratefully she clings onto it for dear life while Dan helps him settle the pillow behind her head.

She's has random spells of feeing completely weak and 'useless'. She does nothing but want to sleep.

"The heating is on too." Charlie nods her head and falsely smiles while she gets the same aches and pains. She knows that she's been over doing it lately, especially with the filming and this afternoon of engagement ring hunting.

"Tell them." Charlie whispers while Dan's father and mother cuddle up against one another.

"I don't think now's a good time?" Dan looks down while stroking Charlie's cheek. The pillows are on his lap, as so is her head.

"The sooner they know." Charlie whispers while a smile while Dan nods his head.

"Mum...dad..." Dan says over the top of a woman getting brutally murdered on a ITV drama show.

Both of his parents look at him. "Me and Charlie are actually here for a reason..." Both of them look confused. Once again they know that she can't be pregnant, and they don't then think about the possibility of them being engaged.

"What reason is that, darling?" Isla whispers while Lacey tosses and turns in her arms.

"We're um..." Dan bites his lip while Charlie takes one arm out of her covers and holds her engagement finger up proudly.

"Oh my god!" Isla shouts a little too loud as the baby wakes up screaming. In shock she covers her mouth before laughing while dad's dad stands up and congratulates them.

"When did you ask, babe?" Isla then bursts into happy tears.

"He asked me this morning." Charlie laughs as she feels stupid...but in love.

"I was feeling really down because..." Charlie takes her wig off while Isla sobs again, as so does Rod tear up.

"And even though I was in a room with support and...a great friend. I felt alone, but then Dan got down on one knee..." Charlie looks up while Dan puts his arm around her and holds her tightly.

"Congratulations. You're such a sweet couple." Isla whispers through her tears while Charlie makes a touched 'awe' sound.

after a moment or two Isla kisses her granddaughter on the head whilst trying to think of happy thing, but Lacey continues to scream down her ear hole. "I think she might be hungry..." Charlie whispers before she tries to push herself up, but Dan instead gently lifts Charlie's pillow up and gets up.

"I'll go and warm her bottle up." Isla smiles wiping the tears out of her eyes while Dan nods his head, retrieving Lacey from his mum. As soon as Dan holds her she stops crying. He rubs her on the back before handing her over to Charlie who's managed to sit up a little bit.

"Where are you going?" Charlie whispers as soon as Dan goes to go out of the room.

"Help mum with the baby formula...want a tea?" Charlie nods her head.

"Ask you mum to make my coffee." Rod says with a smirk while Dan rolls his eyes backwards. Nobody is allow to make him coffee, not even himself, he can tell the difference and he hates it. Isla's secret is to put in two extra spoons of sugar.

"Of course." Dan says with a smile while he then strokes Lacey's call cheek one more time before going into the kitchen.
