An extra chapter in Season 4: the proposal chapter!!

•••••

For spring break, the Glee kids had gone to Hawaii for vacation, thanks to one Sue Sylvester.

Sam also knew that this was the perfect opportunity to propose to Haley. He had a plan, and Haley didn't know what was coming for her.

——

As the group stepped out at the entrance of their hotel at The Four Seasons, all of them stood in awe at the view.

"Awe, god it's even more beautiful in real life." Haley sighed, in awe at the view of the beach.

"Not as beautiful as you though." Sam whispered, as she giggled.

"Preach!" Artie said.

"I want to go eat leis." Brittany commented, as Haley frowned.

"I want to go eat food and drink smoothies by the pool." Tina said.

"I want to go lay on the beach and find where the karaoke nights are." Blaine said.

"I want to go write songs by the ocean." Marley said.

"I'm off to find the rich people." Sugar said, walking away from the group.

"Oh we've already lost one child, I guess the rest will disperse." Haley said aloud, as Sam chuckled at her.

"Let's get this vacation started!" Haley continued, as she walked ahead of Sam and the rest of the group.

"Blaine, Tina, Artie, you are to distract her for the next hour. I need to make sure Finn, Kurt, Mercedes, Mike, Santana and Quinn arrive on time. She can't see them until tomorrow evening." Sam said, as the three nodded at him.

"We're on it." Tina said, as she dragged Haley away.

"I'll see you later Hay! I have some things to do, but I'll see you at dinner." Sam called after her as she turned around and nodded.

"Sounds good!" Haley called back.

"Okay, the plan is in motion." Sam said, walking off the other direction.

----

Later that afternoon, the girls were sunbathing on the beach, with sunglasses.

"God is this place just surrounded with surfers?" Haley scoffed, as her and the girls laid on their chairs. "Literally they're everywhere!"

"This country's number one export is hot surfer dudes." Sugar commented.

"And there's options." Kitty pointed out.

"I'm not gonna buy the first one I see." Brittany added, as she saw a guy walk past with kangaroo stuffed animals. "Ooh, although Lord Tubbington told me he wanted a kangaroo."

"Oh Britt, honey, don't buy the first souvenir you see, or you'll regret it your whole trip." Haley commented. "You too Sugar.. Don't go after a hot surfer dude just for pure pleasure."

"You're right, I have enough regrets." Brittany said, as she put her sunglasses back on, and laid down on her chair.

"Totally." Sugar agreed.

"The sound of the waves is honestly so calming. The mediation app just came to life." Haley said.

Tina smiled as she leaned closer to talk to Marley. "She really has no idea what's going down tomorrow evening."

"Nope, she doesn't know what's coming for her." Marley smiled.

-----

Later that evening, Haley decided to take a walk on the beach. She sighed, not knowing where Sam was, but knowing he was probably off doing impressions somewhere.

As she stood looking out at the ocean, she heard someone calling after her.

"Hay! Mind if I join you?" Sam called.

"Sure! Come here." She answered, as he came to join her. They walked for the next 15 minutes in comfortable silence.

"Where were you the whole afternoon?" She asked.

"Oh, you know, just exploring the island, seeing what was around." He lied. Out of his peripheral vision, he saw Santana and Finn walking near the beach. Without Haley noticing, he used his free hand to tell them to go before she saw them.

"What are you doing baby?" Haley asked, frowning, as she saw Sam was doing some weird thing with his hand.

"Oh nothing?" He said, looking down at her, suddenly, shocking her by pulling her in for a deep kiss. Hoping that Santana and Finn got his message, however when they pulled away, Santana was standing watching them.

"Wow, okay. Have you had dinner?" Haley asked as she pulled away from him.

"Not yet. But I actually have to go. Something just came up." He said, making a run for the pool, waving his hands so Santana would get his message to get out of eyesight.

"Oh, well, see you later!" She called.

"Silly guy...but I love him." She muttered, sitting down to watch the waves. She was enjoying the calmness when Marley came to sit beside her.

"Mind if I sit?" Marley asked, as Haley smiled.

"It's a free country." Haley joked, giggling at Marley's confused expression. "Yes of course, sit."

"How are you doing?" Haley asked, as Marley sighed.

"Honestly, I feel like Jake is pulling away from me."

"Awe honey, I'm sorry...I don't know what it feels like to have someone romantic pull away, but I know how it feels to have a family that feels far away. The feeling isn't pleasant, let me tell you."

"I guess only time will tell." Marley said, sadly.

"Yeah, and maybe things will come around. Don't give up. You're a lovely girl, anyone would be fortunate to have you. You deserve good things." Haley said quietly, as Marley smiled.

"Thanks, Hay." Marley said. "I don't know what I'd do without you." She giggled.

"Honestly I don't know either." Haley sighed.

"How about you and Sam? Can you tell me how you guys met and all of that?"

So Haley went on to tell her their love story. "See, love has its ups and downs, so do relationships. A relationship's formation is built on trust, honesty, commitment, integrity, acceptance, and loyalty. Include some vulnerability and humour, and kindness. You are set. I love Sam, and I wouldn't want to have our relationship any other way." Haley finished.

"You guys are so inspiring. You know that? You have such a healthy relationship. I feel like he knows how to handle your anxiety, depression and struggles easier, than Jake does when I'm feeling low." Marley explained.

"Honey, people are sometimes different in perception and observation. There are few empaths out there." Haley said.

"Yeah, I guess." Marley sighed, as the two girls continued to talk for the rest of the night.

----

The day of the proposal had arrived, and Sam couldn't be more excited, yet he was quite antsy about the whole thing.

"Calm down dude, you will be fine." Blaine assured him, as they sat together with the group, excluding Marley who was off with Haley at the beach, keeping her occupied.

"Yeah but what happens if she says no?" Sam asked.

"She loves you too much." Mike added.

"It's kinda cheesy." Kitty muttered as she sipped on her smoothie.

"Trouts, what you and Hay have is true. We've seen it the past two years." Santana said, as she waved at a guy walking past.

"It's true, you're the longest couple to last, ever since sophomore year." Quinn pointed out.

"Speaking of Haley, where is she?" Kurt asked, as the group looked around.

"I've made people other than you, Finn, Santana, Quinn, Mike and Mercedes keep her distracted until tonight." Sam explained. "I just don't want her seeing you guys yet. I will need help with some set up tonight though."

"Got that down on the list." Tina said, unravelling a large list she had created.

"Ooh, can I eat this turtle?" Brittany asked coming back to the group from the beach.

"Britt, honey, no..." Quinn replied.

"That's a living animal, you wouldn't eat Lord Tubbinton. Would you?" Santana asked.

"Well, I'm excited for tonight." Finn added.

"I second that." Mercedes added, smiling. "Then I'm off to LA again at 9 in the morning tomorrow."

"I'm grateful you all could make it." Sam smiled. "Thanks for coming."

"We wouldn't miss it for the world." Kurt smiled.

----

As Haley entered the hotel room she was staying in with Sam, she saw a royal blue dress laying out on her bed, along with some accessories.

"Huh, that's odd. Looks like something Santana would make me wear." She muttered, going to read the note beside the dress.

"Go to the entrance." is all it said. "Well that's easy." She sighed, after she put the dress on.

She made her way downstairs, and walked towards the entrance where she was given a leis to wear.

After that, she found another note that directed her through the gardens and towards the beach. As she walked down the path lit with candles, and wildflowers, she came to the beach where there were more candles and lights. She turned to see a screen playing videos and photos of her and Sam. She teared up smiling at the memories and the whole set up.

As she turned around, she gasped as all her friends stood there. Kurt, Finn, Santana, Quinn, Mercedes and Mike stood at the front, as the rest of the Glee kids stood around, smiling. "What are you guys doing here?! Oh my god..." She said, out of words... after she had hugged each one of them, Quinn turned her around.

What she saw was a sight she never expected to see so soon. There was Sam bent down on one knee holding up an engagement ring.

"Oh my god..." Haley trailed off, as tears began to fall.

"Haley, I love you with my whole heart. I have loved you ever since we danced at the wedding over two years ago. I believe that is when I really saw the real you. You are, and will always be the love of my life, the only person I see in a room full of people, that's love. I love your personality, your honesty, your kindness, your devotion to helping me, and everyone else, your loyalty, your smile, your laugh, your scars, your talent is utterly underrated, your genuine heart, your intelligence, your willingness to be vulnerable with me. Yes, I even love when you are mad at me, and I still love you when we fight and argue. Not every relationship is perfect. I believe what we have is rare. Our relationship is built on honesty, trust, communication, validation, vulnerability and honesty. That is what true love is in a healthy relationship. I've loved getting to be your boyfriend, the person you run to, the person you cry to. I'm always going to be here for you, to support and encourage you. I can't pick a favorite memory or date because all of them are worth cherishing, and I hope that you'll let me continue to be in your life as we make more memories. I remember you saying that you didn't feel loved, but then you said that I was the one who made you feel accepted. You told me that I was the one who showed you what being loved felt like. You have grown, and will only continue to grow. You have been through so much, and we as a couple have been through a lot, but I'm wanting to spend forever going through these things together, that's something I'll never trade for the world, as long as I'm with you. I am grateful that you let me continue to love you, and that you manage to give me the equal amount of love back. I'm fortunate, and certainly do not take things for granted. Every minute we get to spend together, every day we spend together, I love and cherish. That is something I want for the rest of my life. So, Haley Elena Aldrin, will you do me the honor of marrying me, and spending the rest of your life with me?" Sam asked, as she sobbed.

"Yes. Yes, Sam I will marry you." She managed to get out as he smiled down at her, and everyone clapped.

She laughed through her tears as she jumped into his arms, as he wrapped his arms around her, spinning her around. After he placed her on the ground, he slid the promise ring off, replacing it with the engagement ring. She smiled up at him, as he leaned down, pressing his lips to hers, as he dipped her over.

After she pulled away, she looked up at him, as he wiped her tears, smiling down at her. "I can't wait to marry you, and spend the rest of our life together." Haley sniffled, her voice cracking.

Sam wrapped his arms around her chest leaning down to rest his head on her shoulder. "Me too, baby, me too."

"I love you." Haley said, smiling.

"I love you too." Sam smiled as he kissed her again.

"Someone pinch me, because I can't believe this is happening." Tina said, crying, as Blaine brought her into a hug.

"I think everyone is emotional." Mercedes answered, as she wiped her tears.

"Trouts finally asked the question." Santana smiled.

"That's our Haley." Quinn smiled back at her.

Everyone watched with tears in their eyes and smiles as the couple had their moment, just enjoying each other's company.

"Well...show us the ring!" Santana cheered, as Haley turned around smiling, showing off the ring.

"Trouts really has some good taste." Santana commented, as Haley and everyone laughed.

"God... I'm crying." Artie said, as he wiped his tears.

"I thought you wouldn't get emotional that easy." Haley laughed.

"Well. It's a trigger I guess." He smiled back.

"Thank you for coming guys, I really appreciate it." Haley smiled.

"Like I told Sam, we wouldn't miss it for the world." Kurt assured them, smiling.

"I honestly can't wait for the wedding, the planning, the bridal shower, the shopping, really everything....Oh yay, I can go wedding dress shopping now!" Haley exclaimed, causing everyone to laugh.

"One thing at a time baby, one thing at a time." Sam laughed as he wrapped her in his arms again, the whole group engulfing them in a big group hug.
