《Soccer/Football Imagines》Pick your Player/Person Imagine

A.N. Just a little imagine with no set pairing. I wrote it when I was low and thought I'd just share it with everyone. Feel free to insert yourself into the imagine. Based on true events. I'm back, almost three months late (my fault entirely) I've just had so much drama in my life these past few months that I've been a terrible author. Anyways, this is the first imagine for a while. I already have requests from you guys (Sergi Roberto, Cristiano Ronaldo (x2), Pogba, and Gerard Pique) I'll try and get to them as quickly as possible but my finals are coming up so no promises once again. (I know I'm a horrible person) So, on with the imagine!
She was stupid. So stupid. There was nothing other than that to it. She was stupid. Period, said and done. He didn't like her, he never would like her, and it wasn't his fault. He hadn't meant for his smile to cause butterflies in her stomach every time she caught a glimpse of it. He hadn't meant for the playful nudging and poking to cause her to think about what a cute couple they would look like at a gala. He hadn't meant for the constant teasing to inflame feelings within her that he didn't feel back. And yet, she had fallen, stupidly so, in love with him.
Leaning back on the wall she was sitting next to, her eyes drifted down to the floor when she heard his familiar laugh and voice. Looking out at her friends, she couldn't help but feel all the more lonely. They were mingling normally, laughing and carefree. One of her friends was playing ping pong with a guy that was most definitely infatuated with her. Another one was in the corner just laughing with her boyfriend. The others had dates as well, but she just sat lonely in the corner.

"I'm pathetic," she spat out, rubbing her face tiredly. There was no point to consuming alcohol, she'd just feel even crappier in the morning than she felt right now. Sighing, she got up and walked over to one of the games. It was a small party between their friends groups from high school and she had gone against her better judgement by coming.
He sat across from her as the cards were dished out. She gazed at him over the tops of her cards, pretending to strategize for the up and coming game. His hair was shorter than usual and she admitted it to herself that she liked it better shorter. The game started and she chose instead to focus on it than the boy sitting across from her. The usual jokes flowed out of his mouth and she couldn't help but laugh and smile along with everyone else.
The game finished and she got up to leave. Waving good bye to her friends, she walked out into the cold winter air and headed towards her car. Arriving back home, she hopped onto her bed and just stared at the ceiling. She knew she wouldn't be getting any sleep tonight. The thoughts and memories swirling through her head would keep her up until the next morning, she was sure.
Breathing in and out, she felt the tears start to resurface. This time, she didn't hold them back. It had all started after she had broken up with her now ex-boyfriend. A few days later, they had hung out and joked around like nothing was the matter. Then her friends started winking at her whenever they caught the two together. She had denied such feelings for him, they were just friends and that's all they'd ever be. Bitterly, she admitted now that that was true: they'd only ever be friends.

Then the flirting had started. She hadn't originally characterized it as flirting but after having it pointed out to her several times, she felt herself falling very fast for him. She had reeled back, having just been hurt and not wanting to feel the pain again, but sank into the idea of them together. Then the dreams started. The long dreams with the two of them as lovers, forever and always. She thought that they had something special but her own doubt started to gnaw away at her.
He just had a flirty personality, she told herself. He's like that with all of his friends. I'm not that special. There was no doubt that he wasn't fond of her, but that's where the feelings stopped—fondness. They'd never get together, they'd never kiss with the moon as their only witness, they'd never talk for hours on end in bed together, they'd never get their happy ending together.
She'd never get his sweatshirt wrapped around her small shoulders, she'd never feel the softness of his lips against her own, she'd never go on a date with him, she'd never get to pick out a white dress, she'd never get to walk down the aisle with him waiting at the other end. He'd never call her at odd hours in the night, he'd never bend down to kiss her forehead, he'd never hold her hand as they walked down the street, he'd never bend down on one knee, and he'd never say the three words that she wished more than anything else in the world he would say: "I love you."
But, she'd never stop loving him, she'd never not miss his smile, she'd never not laugh at his jokes, she'd never stop enjoying his company. Drying the tears, she got out of bed and looked at her alarm clock. Groaning when she saw the 6:30 light up on her clock, she pulled herself off of her bed. Changing quickly into her work clothes, she walked downstairs. Grabbing a piece of toast and a water bottle, she hopped into her car and drove to work. Parking the car, she walked into the building with one of her friends, laughing and chatting about their latest projects. Separating, she headed towards her desk.
Feeling her shoe slip from her foot, she turned around and glared playfully at him. "Really? Flat tiring? What are we five?" she teased, pulling her shoe back on before heading towards her desk once again, this time with him next to her. He poked her and she poked him back. The two laughed and talked until she reached her desk. Bidding goodbye to him, she watched him bound towards the training ground entrance. Laughing to herself, she sat down and took out her supplies. Pushing aside the daydreams of him kissing her goodbye, she got back to work.
He might never share her feelings, he might never want to call her his, he might never want to cuddle on the couch for hours and just not do anything, he might never love her. But, she loved him. And for now, that was enough for her. Even though the aching in her heart wouldn't go away for the day, she just had to wait for her dreams to return, bringing everything she ever wanted with them.

Conquest of Avalon
Revenge. The Kingdom of Avalon swept across the Empire of the Fox a generation past, conquering the heartlands and leaving the broken remnants to stew in the island duchy of Guerron. This isn't a story of Good versus Evil, of kindly kings doing their best to lift all subjects, or of unvarnished heroes doing battle against evil. Instead, this story is about power: who has it, who wants it, and what people will do to obtain it. It is about the violence inherent in the imperial project and how even the most well-intentioned rulers and conquerors are, still, engaging in systemic violence against those conquered and defeated. Our three point-of-view characters are a peasant turned fire wizard, an excitable duelist with more enthusiasm than sense, and a scheming mage-priestess bent on reclaiming her family's birthright and waging war on the foreign oppressors who rule her home... no matter the cost in blood or treasure.

What follows is a journey that will forever change their new world in ways that nobody saw coming. --- Updates Sundays. --- Helpful comments, reviews, and general error checking would be much appreciated. --- Author's Note: Three of the four main characters of this story are all important side characters from a story that I haven't written yet as my skills as an author are not yet up to the task. However, I do have enough of the story nailed down that no changes I make in that story should affect this one. That said, the purpose of this story is to both practice my writing and to generally have fun with my characters and the world around them.
