(Season 4 x18)
Calliope woke up in her bed looking over at Dean, who is awake, "Hey you okay?" she asks him.
"Uh..yeah..yeah I think so, just something weird that happened, I had to craziest dream, where you and I were engaged, and I worked a corporate job, and didn't know Sam" he tells her.
"Okay that's a little messed up, you and I engaged like that's ever going to happen" she says to him.
"Yeah..You're right...sorry to wake you...get some more rest" he tells her.
"You sure you're okay?" she asks sensing that he was keeping something from him.
"Yeah..I will be, come on we got a case in the morning, need our rest" he tells her, as he lays back down on the couch, and Calliope closes her eyes getting some much needed rest as well.
Calliope, Sam, and Dean walk into the comic book store, fully dressed in their suits, as they walk up to the counter, "Uh... Can I help you?" the man behind the counter asks them.
"Sure hope so, Agents DeYoung, Shaw and Gowen, just need to ask you a few questions" Dean tells the man.
"Notice anything strange in the building, last couple days?" Sam asks the man.
"Like what?" he asks in return.
"You've had some other tenants report flickering lights" Calliope tells him.
"Uh,I don't think so, Why?" he asks her.
"What about noises? Any skittering in the walls? Kind of like rats?" Sam then asks.
"And the FBI is investigation a rodent problem?" the man asks skeptical about their cover.
"What about cold spots? Feel any sudden drops in temperature?" Sam asks.
The man then grins at the three of them, "I knew it! You guys are LARPing, aren't you?" he asks them.
"Excuse me?" Dean asks confused by what the man asked.
"You're fans" he says to Dean.
"Fans of what exactly?" Calliope asks.
"What is 'LARPing'?" Dean asks him.
"Like you don't know" the man says to Dean, and they all give him a confused look, "Live-Action Role-Play! And pretty hardcore, too" he explains to them.
"I'm sorry, I have no idea what you're talking about" Dean says to him.
"You're asking questions like the building's haunted. Like those guys from the books, What are they called? Uh....'Supernatural'. Two guys, use fake IDs with rock aliases, hunt down ghosts, demons, and vampires. What are their names? Uh..Steve and Dirk? Uh, Sal and Dane?" the man tells them
"Sam and Dean" Calliope and Sam say together.
"That's it!" the man says excitedly.
"You're saying this is a book?" Dean asks.
"Books, it was a series, didn't sell a lot of copies, though. Kind of had more of an underground cult following" the man tells them as he leaves behind the counter, and head over to a bargain bin, and the three of them follow him, "Let's see...um...ah, yeah" he takes a book out and passes it to Dean, "That's the first one" he tells Dean.
Dean looks at the cover of the book, before flipping it around and reading the back, "Along a lonely California highway, a mysterious woman in white lures men to their deaths"
Sam grabs the book from Dean, "Give me that" he then looks at the man, "We're gonna need all the copies of "Supernatural" you've got" he asks the man.
Later that night the three of them are in their motel, and Calliope and Dean are going over the books, as Sam has his laptop out looking up the books online.

"Did you really do this stuff before I met you guys?" Calliope asks them both as she finishes reading the first book, "Cause this is freaking insane, how is it even possible this Carver Edlund knew all this" she adds.
"You got me" Sam tells her.
"Everything is in here, I mean everything, from the racist truck to—to me having sex, I'm full-frontal in here dude, Calliope don't read that" he remarks as she picks up a book called Route 666. Dean then goes over toward his brother, "How come we haven't heard of them before?" he asks his brother.
"They're pretty obscure, I mean almost zero circulation. Uh, started in '05, the publisher put out a couple dozen before going bankrupt, and uh, the last one-'No Rest For The Wicked'" he turns the laptop toward Dean, showing a fan site, "Ends with you going to hell".
"I reiterate, freaking insane" Dean remarks as he browses the site Sam showed him, Calliope picks up the book Sam mentioned and starts looking it over, "Check it out, there's actually fans. There's not many of them, but still. Did you read this?" Dean asks his brother.
"Yeah" Sam tells him.
"Although for fans, they sure do complain a lot, listen to this-Simpatico says 'the demon story line is trite, clichéd, and overall craptastic' yeah well screw you. Simpatico, we lived it" Dean tells them.
"Yeah, well keep on reading, it gets better" Sam tells him.
"There are 'Sam-girls' and 'Dean-girls' and-what's a 'slash' fan?" Dean asks and Calliope looks over at him.
"As in....Sam –slash- Dean, together" Sam explains.
"Like, together, together?" he asks him.
"Yeah" Sam says to him.
"They do know we're brothers, right?" Dean says back to Sam.
"Doesn't seem to matter" Sam says.
"Oh, come on, that...that's just sick" Dean says shutting the laptop in disgust, "We got to find this Carver Edlund" he then says to Calliope and Sam.
"Yeah, that might not be so easy" Sam tells him.
"Why not?" Dean asks.
"No tax records, no known address, looks like 'Carver Edlund' is a pen name" Sam explains.
"Somebody's gotta know who he is" Dean says to Sam.
"Hey, why aren't I in them?" Calliope then asks, "I mean, this...this is about us trying to fight off Lilith, and this one" she picks up Jus In Bello, "Was when the demons attacked that police station, and there's no mention of me anywhere" Calliope says to the boys.
"Yeah, if this is suppose to all be true, why isn't Calliope in them?" Dean then says to his brother.
"That's a good question" Sam says also curious about that.
"Maybe it's like Anna told me, my true father is trying to keep me hidden from my grandfather who I am now assuming is God, and who ever this Carver Edlund is, whatever he is seeing about you two, I am hidden in it" he mentions to them.
"Possibly, I think we need to talk to the publisher, she might be able to help us, I'll get in touch and hope to get some answers" Sam says to them.
"Here's hoping" Calliope say to him.
The next day Calliope, Sam and Dean meet with the publisher of the 'Supernatural' books, she's a young attractive woman, who is eager to meet them, but also nervous about their intentions.
"So you published the 'Supernatural' books?" Sam asks her as they sit down in chairs.
"Yep, yeah, gosh, these books...you know, they never really got the attention they deserved. All anybody wants to read anymore is that romance crap. You know-'Doctor Sexy M.D'? Please" she says to them.

"Right, well we're hoping that our article can..shine a light on an underappreciated series" Sam tells her.
"Yeah, yeah because you know, if we got a little bit of good press then m-maybe we could start publishing again" she says to Sam.
"No, no, no, God, no, I mean why-why would you do that? You know, it's. Uh, such a complete series, what with Dean going to hell and all" Dean says to her.
"Oh, my God! That was one of my favorite ones, because Dean was so...strong... and sad, and brave. And Sam...I mean, the best parts are when they'd cry. You know, like in-in 'Heart' when Sam had to kill Madison, the first woman since Jessica he really loved. And in 'Home' when Dean had to call John and ask him for help" the woman gets emotional about this and has to turn away, "Gosh...if only real men were so open and in touch with their feelings" she then says to them.
"Real men?" Dean questions.
"I mean, no offence, how often do you cry like that, hmm?" she asks him.
"Well, right now, I'm crying on the inside" Dean says clearly getting pissed off.
"Is that supposed to be funny?" the woman then asks Dean.
"Lady, this whole thing is funny" he then remarks.
"How do I know you three are legit, hmm?" she then asks.
"Oh, trust me, we, uh...we're legit" Dean tells her.
"Well, I don't want any smart-ass article making fun of my boys" the woman tells him.
"No, no, no, no .,never" Sam stammers.
"No, that's" "We-we are actually huge fans of the books" Calliope says covering for Dean.
"Hmm... You've read the books?" the woman asks her.
"Oh, yeah cover to cover" Calliope tells her.
"Um,hmm" Sam and Dean tell her.
"What's the year and model of the car?" she asks them.
"It's a 1967 Chevy Impala" Calliope and Dean answer together.
"What's May 2nd?" she then asks.
"That's my-Uh...that's Sam's birthday" Sam tells her.
"January 24th is Dean's" Dean tells her.
"Sam's score on the LSAT?" she then asks.
"One.." Sam then looks at Dean, "Seventy-four" he answers.
"Dean's favourite song?" she then asks.
"It's a tie, between Zep's 'Ramble on' and 'Traveling Riverside Blues'" Dean replies.
"Okay, okay what do you want to know?" the woman asks.
"We want to know what Carver Edlund's real name is" Calliope tells her.
"Oh, no, I- No, sorry...can't do that" she tells Calliope.
"We just want to talk to him, you know get the real 'Supernatural' story in his own words" Sam tells her.
"He's very private, it's like Salinger" the publisher tells Sam.
"Please, like I said-we are, umm" Sam says as he unbuttons his shirt a little, to reveal his demon-protection tattoo, "big..big fans" he adds as he looks at Dean who rolls his eyes and displays his own tattoo, and the publisher licks her lip.
"Awesome, you know what?" she then pulls her skirt up, showing them her matching one, "I got one, too"
"Whoa, you are a fan" Dean says as they fix their shirts and the woman puts her skirt down.
"Okay" she then says as she writes on a piece of paper, "His names's Chuck Shurley, and he's a genius, so don't piss him off" she tells them.
"Thank you so much for this, umm I got one question though, did umm any of the original drafts for umm Jus In Bello or even No Rest for the Wicked, did they have a Calliope Atwell in them?" Calliope then asks.
"Umm...no...not that I can remember" she tells her, "Why?" she then asks.
"Just curious thanks for your time" Calliope says as they then leave.
Dean pulls the car up to the address of Chuck Shurley, and he parks the car, they walk up to the ramshackle looking home, and walk up the porch steps, as Dean presses the doorbell. They wait as the door opens and a very squirrely looking man answers in just his boxers, t-shirt and a bathrobe. "You Chuck Shurley?" Dean asks him.
"The Chuck Shurley who wrote the 'Supernatural' books?" Sam then asks.
"Maybe why?" He asks them.
"He's Dean and that is Sam, the Sam and Dean you've been writing about" Calliope tells him.
He looks at her, then closes the door, and Dean rings the bell again, and Chuck reopens the door, "Look, uh...I appreciate your enthusiasm. Really, I do. It's, uh, , it's always nice to hear from the fans. But, uh, for your own good, I strongly suggest you get a life" Chuck says as he goes to close the door, but Dean puts his hand out and stops the door.
"See here's the thing, we have a life, and you've been using it to write your books" Dean tells him as he shoves the door open, causing Chuck to back up into the house.
"Now, wait a minute, now this isn't funny" Chuck says to them.
"Damn straight, it's not funny" Dean tells him.
"Look we just want to know how you're doing it" Sam asks him.
"I'm not doing anything" Chuck tells him.
"Are you a hunter?" Dean then asks him.
"What? No, I'm a writer" Chuck tells him.
"Then how do you know so much about demons?" Dean says advancing on Chuck, who falls onto the couch, "And Tulpas and changelings?" Dean asks.
"Is this some kind of 'Misery' thing? Ah, it is, isn't it? It's a Misery thing" Chuck says to him.
"No, it's not a 'Misery' thing. Believe me, we are not fans!" Dean tells him.
"Well, then, what do you want?" Chuck asks him.
"I'm Sam, and that's Dean" Sam tries to tell him.
"Sam and Dean are fictional characters, I made them up! They're not real!" Chuck tells him.
Going outside, Dean opens the trunk, and shows the arsenal to Chuck, who looks shocked, "Are those real guns?" he asks them.
"Yep, this is real rock salt, these are real fake ID's" Dean tells him.
"Well I got to hand it to you guys, you really are my number one fans" Chuck says nervously, "That's, that's awesome, So I-I think I've got some posters in the house" he says as he starts to walk toward the house.
"Chuck, stop" Dean calls out to him.
"Please, wait, please don't hurt me" Chuck says to them.
"How much do you know? Do you know about the Angels? Or Lilith breaking the seals?" Sam says to him, and Chuck stops.
"Wait a minute, how do you know about that?" he asks Sam.
"The question is how do you?" Dean asks him.
"Because I wrote it" Chuck tells him.
"You kept writing?" Sam asks him.
"Yeah, even after the publisher when bankrupt, but those books never came out, okay wait a minute, this is some kind of joke, right? Did that-Did Phil put you up to this?" Chuck then asks them.
"Well nice to meet you, I'm Dean Winchester, and this is my brother, Sam, and she is Calliope Atwell." Dean says to him.
"The last names were never in the books, I never told anybody about that, I never even wrote that down, and I never included her" Chuck says as they go into the house.
They watch as Chuck pours himself a drink of whiskey, and chugs it down, once he's done he puts the glass in the sink. Chuck turns around, seeing the three of them still there, and he groans.
"Oh! Oh, you're still there" he says to them.
"Yup" Dean says.
"You're not a hallucination" Chuck says.
"Nope" Dean tells him.
"Well, there's only one explanation, obviously I'm a God" he then says.
"You're not a God" Sam tells him.
"How else do you explain it? I write things and then they come to life. Yeah, no, I'm definitely a God. A cruel, cruel, capricious God. The things I put you through-The physical beatings alone" he says to them.
"Yeah, we're still in one piece" Dean remarks.
"I killed your father, I burned your mother alive, and then you had to go through the whole horrific deal again with Jessica" he says looking at Sam.
"Chuck..," Sam says.
"All for what? All for the sake of literary symmetry. I toyed with your lives, your emotions, for..entertainment" Chuck says.
"You didn't toy with us, Chuck, okay? You didn't create us" Dean informs him.
"Did you really have to live through the bugs?" Chuck asks.
"Yeah" Dean tells him.
"What about the ghost ship?" Chuck then asks.
"Yes, that too" Dean says.
"I am so sorry. I mean, the horror is one thing, but to be forced to live bad writing...if I would have known it was real, I would have done another pass" Chuck then says.
"Chuck, you're not a god!' Dean shouts at him .
"We think you're probably just psychic" Sam tells him.
"No, if I were psychic you think I'd be writing? Writing is hard" Chuck says to Sam.
"It seems that somehow, you're just...focused on our lives" Sam then says.
"Yeah, like laser-focused, are you working on anything right now?" Dean asks Chuck.
He looks at the three of them, "Holy crap!" he says realizing something.
"What is it Chuck?" Calliope then asks him.
Chuck then picks up some papers, " The, uh, latest book? It's, uh, it's kind of weird" he tells her.
"Weird how?" Sam asks him.
"It's very Vonnegut" he tells Sam.
"Slaughterhouse-Five Vonnegut or 'Cat's Cradle' Vonnegut?" Dean then says and both Calliope and Sam look at Dean surprised.
"What?" Sam asks him.
"What" Dean responds defensively.
"It's uh, 'Kilgore Trout' Vonnegut. I wrote myself into it, I wrote myself, at my house....confronted by my characters" he then tells them.
Later that night, Calliope, Dean and Sam were at the Laundromat as Sam and Calliope wanted to clean their stuff from being on the road. As Sam and Calliope were doing their laundry Dean sits nearby reading Chuck's newest script.
"I'm sitting in a Laundromat, reading about myself sitting in a Laundromat reading about myself. My head hurts." Dean says to them.
"There's got to be something this guy's not telling us" Sam says to Dean as he tosses his darks into the machine, and Dean continues to read.
"Sam tossed his gigantic darks into the machine. He was starting to have doubts about Chuck, about whether he was telling the whole truth'" Dean reads to them.
"Stop it" Sam says.
" Stop it' Sam said'. Guess what you do next" Dean says to him, as Sam turns away. "'Sam turned his back on Dean, his face brooding and pensive' I mean I don't know how he's doing it, but this guy is doing it. I can't see your face, but those are definitely your 'brooding and pensive' shoulders" Dean says to Sam, as Sam sighs, and Dean looks down at the manuscript again, "You just thought I was a dick"
"The guy's good" Sam says as he turns back to look at Dean.
"What I still don't get is why aren't I mentioned, even in this new manuscript, I'm still not mentioned, and I bet that bugs you just a little Dean" Calliope says as she continues to do her laundry.
"No" he lies to her.
"You wish you could know what I really think of you don't you" Calliope smiles at him.
"Okay..maybe I do" he says to her, as her and Sam go back to doing the laundry.
