Akaashi's eyes flickered open, obviously irritated by the bright light beyond his window. It was early, but he easily got out of bed and starting getting ready.
Fully dressed, he stood in front of his bathroom mirror. His bed head was most definitely worse than Kuroos. After actually spending a good half an hour on it, he finally found it, at least acceptable.
At 9:54, he sat at his kitchen table, nibbling on a bagel smothered in strawberry cream cheese. To his surprise, he heard a knock on his door at exactly 10.
"AKaashi!!!" Bokuto exclaimed, obviously super excited.
He opened the door, and before he could reply, he automatically checked Bokuto out. I mean, how could he not. He looked hot with his kind of tight black jeans and a bright red shirt. His weird, but cool looking hair. It was unique, but in an attractive way. But you know what he thought was even more attractive? His smile that made Akaashi's heart stop. His eyes finally averted to the others golden eyes. He could stare at them all day, they would always have that spectacular glow and would sparkle in the sun light. Maybe glow in the dark, who knows. ;^) Bokuto stared too, and for him, it was too much. It was like looking directly at an angel. 'He looks so cute!' He admired his soft messy hair, and even his calm, stoic expression. His stern eyes and soft looking skin could easily make any stranger think he was a model.
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

"Hi Bokuto-san." Akaashi finally said.
Bokuto still lost in his trance had a delayed response.
"huh? oh- right, let's get going!"
"Hey, nice shirt." Akaashi calmly stated as they started walking down the street.
Bokuto swiftly observed all around his shirt making sure there wasn't anything on it. Thinking Akaashi was just pulling his leg he was about to complain, but then he thought, maybe Akaashi didn't like the shirt? Was it sarcasm? Akaashi could tell he was having a hard time processing his compliment and just snickered.

"Com-pli-ment"
"I knew that!"
"Sureeee Bokuto-San."
"Oi, Akaashi, why do you call me that?"
"What? Bokuto-san?"
"Yah, that."
"Well, its your name right?"
"No, my name is Kotarou."
"That's your first name."
"So"
"I mean, you're technically my senpai, so I shouldn't address you like that"
"Come on don't even start with that."
"It's not like you call me Keiji" Akaashi remarked.
"You want me to call you Keiji?" Just hearing his name roll off Bokuto's tongue made him red hot.
"Um,- no."
"Never mind." Bokuto shrugged.
"Soo, where are we going?"
"shhh, its a secret." Akaashi rolled his eyes. He could obviously tell they were about to watch a movie, they were already in line for tickets.
After buying some hella expensive snacks in the movie theater, Akaashi soon figured out they were going to watch a comedy. Not a rom-com, or a movie that has a couple of funny jokes. It was a movie that was going to make him laugh. Every. Single. Second.
However, Akaashi didn't like his laugh. He started to get extremely self-conscious.
The lights started to dim right after they took their seats. Bokuto pulled out his phone and put it on do not disturb during the end of the previews.
The last preview was about a really badass movie coming out soon called suicide squad. 'I've got to see that.' Akaashi thought.
30 minutes into the movie and people were already dying of laughter, including Bokuto. He chuckled like an idiot while Akaashi struggled to keep it in. But once he let out a little laugh it made Bokuto immediately turn to him. They turned away from each other.
Bokuto was just about to have a nose bleed, while Akaashi was about to faint of embarrassment.
The movie continued, and Akaashi had a solution. He decided to snack on food the whole time. Good idea right? Your girly laugh won't escape your mouth because your too busy eating right? Is what he thought, but when you're watching a movie with Will Ferrell, you can't help it. After a super hilarious joke, Akaashi practically choked on his popcorn.

"pLAY It cOOl DammIT"he yelled to himself. He opened a pack of skittles as quietly as he could, but, of course, they spilled all over the ground. Colorful little pieces of diabetes were now scattered all over the floor. It was dark, no one could've seen right?
He glanced at Bokuto, who was crying of laughter. Akaashi could only hope it was because of the movie.
When it ended, Bokuto led the way to their next activity. It was fun, but uh, Akaashi would add that to his most embarrassing things he's done list. Had Bokuto noticed everything? Heck yah, but hey, it was flippin adorable.

They mostly walked in silence. Bokuto's hand in his pockets as he wondered about something he was gonna do later on. What would they be doing next? Taking a stroll on the beach. Romantic ne?
While walking on the kind of empty pier, they stopped and sat down on a bench. They gazed at the dark, wide ocean. The sun was setting and the watercolor version of orange and pink invaded the sky. Wasn't it like this with Kuroo just yesterday? But something was different, very different. The way Bokuto felt about the person right next to him. Akaashi made him nervous, made him happy, he was encouraged to be himself. He wanted to give the world to him, but first he had to tell him how much he liked, no loved him.
"Akaashi-" Bokuto started finally digging up the courage. But he noticed the distressed look on Akaashis face as he looked towards the water.
"Bokuto-San." Akaashi turned to him, serious.
"I need to talk to you."
"ok go on." Bokuto's courage had already began to sink back inside him. Akaashi might as well go first.
"Im not fully sure what happened a couple days ago, but I want to be clear and serious with you. I don't just like you Bokuto-san, I love you. More than anything actually. But I still don't believe you and I share these feelings-"
"You have no idea how much I love you, do you?" Akaashi froze.
"I've been waiting ever since we were little Akaashi. To tell you that you mean the world to me. No, you are my world Keiji. And i'm sorry if I came off too quick and gave a half ass confession before. I can't be taken seriously most of the time, I know. In fact back then you must've thought I was insensitive and didn't take your feelings seriously. But if theres anything I'm serious about, its you Akaashi." Bokuto didn't say any of this as if it were a joking matter. He stared directly at Akaashi, who was on the verge of tears. However, both boys were stunned at what they just admitted.
Akaashi pulled Bokuto to embrace him. His arms wrapped around him tight, not letting go for anything. Bokuto didn't realize it himself, but his eyes were also watery. They stayed locked in each others arms. Not mindful of anything surrounding them.
When they finally pulled back, Akaashi had a wide smile, one that was quite rare. He laughed as tears starting to roll down his face. Bokuto grinned stupidly too, that is until a loud rumbling sound echoed in the air. Was it a thunder storm? Yah, in Bokuto's stomach. This only caused Akaashi to laugh harder as he stood up and held his had down to Bokuto.
"Come on lets go grab something to eat."
"We actually have plans to go to a specific restaurant!"
"Oh really?" he said as Bokuto and Akaashi continued to go somewhere else. They talked and joked around while walking. There hands interlocked, never letting go.

Leftover Apocalypse
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] This is a story about the newly-adult Calliope Smith having a terrible day that ends in her getting mysteriously teleported from Phoenix, Arizona to a fantasy world where her life is in constant danger. She considers this an upgrade. Someone evil is looking for her, and she doesn't know why. Someone who seems to know a lot about her has promised they'll help her, but she doesn't know who they are. All that matters to Callie is that magic is real and one way or another she's going to learn it. The end of the world is coming up, sure, but Callie won't need to worry about that. In fact, by the time she even finds out about it one of the doomsday devices will already be destroyed, and the authorities will be well on the way to dealing with the other one. It's fine. Everything will be smooth sailing. Almost certainly. Probably. Chapters are usually about 2500-3500 words, and the goal is to post 2-3 per week but I sometimes get busy or have some writers block. It's your standard portal fantasy / Isekai premise, but unlike some the main character's time on Earth and how she got pulled into another world will (eventually) be explored. Some slight GameLit-feeling stuff later, no menus or level-ups but there's something suspiciously like a skill tree when the magic system gets going. No number crunching, and while the main character will get to do some silly stuff she won't be a god like in some fics (and will in fact spend a lot of time being badly outclassed by her enemies). Some reader interaction, ranging from adding to the worldbuilding to occasionally making big important decisions about skill progression. Please note that the main character is flawed and impulsive, and will make some stupid decisions. That's part of the story, but I get that it's not for everyone. Trigger Warnings: Foster care system references, crappy parenting. Some mental health adjacent stuff, specifically the main character has some issues where she experiences varying levels of empathy and emotional vulnerability depending on the day (it's complicated and not meant to portray any real-world conditions). Occasional violence including mention of death and grievous bodily harm, but no detailed descriptions of gore.

The Grey Realm, an Erebus Story.
Written by: Staugroan and The Inklets. Edited by: Claudia Adams. In the beginning there was a god, who watched over and made one world his own. Soon after the god grew restless, but happened to stumble on a small world filled with life. This world was named Erebus by its peoples; humanity. The god was so fascinated with this new world that he started to copy it back home, creating oceans, forests, deserts, and so forth. Then the god created life and eventually his favored creations who would be immortals and be the better of mankind in every way-the elves. So often the god had traveled to Erebus that the two worlds became linked by magic and their inhabitants could cross at will. Relations between the races flourished, and a great empire was born in the Grey Realm, home of the elves. But the god once again grew restless, and set loose great beasts that stood at the top of any food chain, the apex. At first the elves met the challenge and fought them head on. But mankind was not so lucky, they died in droves to push back even a single apex. Something had to be done. Elves and man worked together to begin sealing off the worlds to protect mankind, to limit the ways in and out to better fight the apex off and keep their fellows safe. The ritual had adverse effects the likes of which neither the elves nor man could predict; the sealing of the worlds started slow, but the magic had never been done before, and in their ignorance it spread to completely cut the two worlds off from one another. It ejected the apex, and other magical being back into the Grey Realm, saving Erebus. At first the elves were content, they would find a way back once the apex were dead and gone. But the seal had done more than keep Erebus locked away. The powersource of the seal was magic itself, from both worlds, and it consumed it all greedily. The elves, weakened without their magic, crumbled into ruin, and the apex were free to hunt the other races of the Grey Realm. Two-thousand years later a strange phenomena is occurring and magic is slowly returning to the Grey Realm, and tears open that allow passage to Erebus. Thu'lain and a few elves must make the journey to fallen kingdom of the elves Anosora, in the hopes of reclaiming what was once theirs. They must face their nemesis the apex, and survive not only the species that have turned against them, but a terrible being left behind by the god to kill even the apex. Uch'l'thein, the faceless terror.
