'Cheeku, kiddo, open the door! What on earth are you doing inside? Let me in!', Mahi knocked on the door for the umpteenth time.
'Cheeku, what's the matter? Did I act in any way? Did someone said you something? Bacha, you're terrifying me!'
'Take this key, Bhai; I just stole it from the front desk. Quickly open the door!', Ro said impatiently.
Mahi gazed at him in disbelief at what he did. Virat always takes the initiative to do this kind of mischievous activities. But he recognised that Rohit must be just as concerned for Virat as he was.
'What are you staring at, Bhai? I have no idea what that idiot has done to himself, so open the door', he said being tensed.
Mahi found his Cheeku on the floor when he opened the door. Tears were streaming from his eyes as he curled up into a ball and hugged his knees to his chest.
'Kya hua hai?', Mahi asked softly, taking his hands off his knees and encircling his kiddo in his arms.
Rohit remained still, wondering what could have happened to cause his best friend to cry so much.
'Kisine kuch Kaha, Kya Hua Bacha? Do you have headache? What's the problem?', mahi tried once again.
'Aap nahi jaoge na, meko kabhi chod ke!' He asked while sobbing childishly in his arms.
That question confused Mahi and Rohit. They had no idea what was happening in his tiny brain or where it was coming from.
'First of all, look at me. Who told you that I would ever leave you?', Mahi questioned as he raised his chin above his chest.
He was hiccupping as a result of his constant crying, Rohit gave him water. His hands were trembling, so Mahi helped him to drink it.
The senior called for Rohit, who then walked out of the room. Mahi assured him that he will handle Virat and not to worry.
'Cheeku, kya baat hai?'
'Wo.. I have heard some guys claim that since I didn't do well on this tour, you will dismiss me from the team and will not talk to me as previously. Because I don't deserve this place or your advice and support' , He said with his moist eyes.
'Bhai, mai aapke bina nahi reh sakta! Agar aap ek din bhi baat nahi karoge toh mai.. mai.. I can't.. bhai.. live..', He broke down again.
Mahi hugged him and rubbed his back to calm him down.
'Cheeku, did I say anything like this to you? Why are you listening to others? I can't never do that to you kiddo! Even I can't be at peace without talking to you! ', He said softly.

Virat just snuggled more into his arms.
'Regarding the series, this is just one series! You will recover more powerfully, I have no doubt. You have my full trust! I don't need anyone else's approval because I am fully aware of what my Cheeku is capable of', Assuring him, he said.
'Is there anything else in this chotu sa brain?' He asked playfully to which Virat pouted.
Vi- Never leave me, bhai; I can't manage it if you don't talk to me or even if I only hear these stuff from other people.
It hurts as bad as anything.
Mahi- I promise you Cheeku, I will protect you always. And I will never leave you!
He said cupping his cheeks.
Mahi was beside him, running her fingers through Virat's hair as he fell into a deep and comfortable sleep with his head on his lap.
With Mahi bhai on his side, he could fight anything in the world.

Virat was really happy and jumping like a kid in excitement.
Dk- What's got you into monkey mode in the morning?
He asked seeing him happy and grinning wide.
(A/N: Don't get confused for DK, it is set in 2015 and he was part of RCB. These are incidents set in 2014 and 2015)
Vi- arey you don't know- wait, did u call me monkey?
Dk- Seeing you jumping like this in excitement, nothing else is appropriate than calling you a monkey.
Virat just puffed his face in annoyance.
Vi- Now I am not gonna tell you!
Dk- Tell me what that you are jumping around because you are excited to meet Ro! And that too after a month.
When you practically eat each others head on calls 4 times a day.
Don't tell me, I know already!
Virat just turned his face away from him and mumbled- 'no one loves me, mai Mahi bhai ko bolne wala hu' to which DK laugh like a manaic making him more irritated.
They reached the stadium and Virat rushes to MI camp to meet Rohit, before he could go to warm ups.
Jassi- Virat bhai!
He ran to him and hugged him tightly.
Vi- Kaisa hai Jassi, all good?
He asked hugging him back.
Jassi- Yes bhai, missed you a lot!
Vi- I missed you too!
Before Jassi could reply on that they heard some laughing sound.
Ro- No Polly, that's not the thing! We will go and have coffee once done with today's match.
Polly- oh please Ro, let it be!
Ro- Arey I know I lost the bet, I will treat you with your fav coffee.

Polly- let's win the match first bestie!
He slung his arm around Rohit's neck.
Rohit grinned at that and started talking with him without noticing what storm is coming in his way.
Jassi- Virat bhai..
Vi- go well today Jassi!
He patted his cheek and left from there.
Jassi murmured, 'Rohit bhai, u are gone today'
Vi- That idiot Ro! How dare he say bestie to Polly! Only I am his bestie..
coffee with him! Ughhh! I hate you Ro!
Coffee was our thing and that too after matches, how could he say that? Only I can call him Ro!!
I am not going to talk him!
Ab- Hey biscuit, they are calling for toss!
Virat went and saw Rohit there, he so want to hug him but remembered what had happened sometime back with Polly how Ro was grinning.
Rohit frowned that Virat didn't even spare a glance at him.
Ro- Hey jassi, do u know what has happened to your Virat bhai? Did u meet him ?
He asked once they were back from the toss.
Jassi told him everything how Virat had come to meet him and listened to everything.
Ro- Oh shit! I am dead today!
Rohit tried to look at Virat when him and Ab were batting but that stubborn rabbit didn't pay attention to him and was giggling with that SA alien.
RCB had won the match. Rohit ran to RCB dressing room to talk to Virat. To his luck No one was in the room only Virat was there sitting on the bench with his back facing him arranging things in his kit bag.
Rohit went towards him and hugged him tightly startling him.
Virat tried to push him away, still angry at him. Rohit gripped him tight and finally Virat gave in and hugged him back.
Vi- I am so angry at you!
Coffee was our thing after match, and u called him your bestie! You moron!
And why the hell is he calling you Ro! Only I can call you that, and Ritika.
He complained in the hug.
Rohit smiled at how he was jealous and complaining like a child. He broke the hug and chuckled at his pouty face.
Ro- I know that's why I am here! I brought coffee too!
I know coffee is our thing, it was just a bet I lost to him! It's a one time thing, not forever like ours!
And he called me Ro, that also I will tell him not to call that.
Okay Cheeku rabbit!
Vi- don't call me that panda!
Ro- Btw well played today!
Vi- Why did he called you bestie, doesn't he know that I am your bestie.
He said ignoring the compliment from him and said like a child.
Ro- you are still stuck on that!
Virat puffed his cheeks not getting the answer.
Ro- You are my best friend, my brother, my confidant and much more than just being a bestie.
He said counting on his fingers.
Vi- Pakka?
Ro- Ha baba! Likh ke du?
He said hugging him sideways.
Vi- Ha agreement kar lete hai!
He said in a very serious tone which made Rohit laugh hard.
Ro- You are too cute when you are jealous Vi!
He said pulling his cheeks.
.
.
.
Virat was just smiling with tears in his eyes seeing that pictures with Mahi bhai and Rohit remembering the loving memories.
Vi- Where did I make a mistake? They might have been irritated by my immaturity!
Why would anyone put up with it for so long? They had been putting up with me for far too long before they finally had enough.
That is indeed what it is. I need to change my behaviour and stop whining and doing other negative things.
I'll get them back! I must quit with my constant arguing and everything! They are unable to follow along with it. They are not liking my childishness! Yes, I will change myself for them.
.
.
.
Mahi's room-
Ro- Where did you go? I was looking for you!
He asked getting up from the bed but immediately felt dizzy.
Mahi- You should rest Ro, the concussion is pretty serious. It will require 1-2 days to recover.
He said and helped him to lay down again.
Ro- But I.. want.. to.. go to Vi.. where is he?
He .. promised.. me that .. he will not .. leave me alone!
he said slurring as he felt dizzy.
Mahi just caressed his head so that he could sleep. He was so out of it. He would wake up and ask for Virat and then suddenly deny meeting him.
'Mahi bhai.. Vi' he just mumbled at he went into a deep sleep.
Mahi sat beside him while Rohit was sleeping in his lap. He took a look at that stuff he had got.
'Virat, you have troubled me so much' Mahi mumbled to himself.

The Adventures of Alan

As a professor of physics, he has a decent understanding of how the world works, or so he likes to think. Armed only with his knowledge, Alan is thrown into a world very different from his own. In his new reality, he will meet both friends and foe, he will seek knowledge, he will build power, and perhaps he will even find love again? Follow Alan through his adventures, and find out for yourselves how he deals with the challenges thrown at him by a new world, while struggling with the issues brought with him from his old one. * Author’s note: A fair warning. This is the first time I’ve published anything, and basically the first time I’ve written anything more than mandatory school-stuff. The story will probably have inconsistencies, grammatical errors (not my native tongue, though that excuse is getting old), and potentially confusing (missing?) plot. I will naturally do my best to write something worth reading, but my main goal in writing this story is to have fun and explore the limits of my own creativity. My hope in publishing it here, is that I’ll reach someone who enjoy the story, and can push me forward towards writing more, as it is difficult at times to find the motivation to write just for myself. Additionally, I can’t really promise to have regular updates, as I have a full-time job that often likes to take the ‘full-time’ part literally, and a sporadic social life that occasionally surprises me (happy surprises mostly, so I shouldn’t complain). I’ll aim for once a week to start with, and take it from there. Happy reading! Cover photo by Jeff Hire (/photographer/gun4hire-58415), from https://freeimages.com/.

Author's aside here: I am writing this mostly to improve my writing and storytelling skills. During the course of developing and writing the first volume of this project, I've learned a lot, but I've also come to realize I have so much more to learn. I appreciate any and all suggestions, comments, corrections, and observations if they are, of course, reasonable. I hope you genuinely enjoy the story.
