《Psychic》Ch9 - Meeting A Child

Unfortunately for the police bureau, Fan Jialuo didn't need to eat or drink, and he also didn't pay any particular attention to his clothing. So, when he moved, he only brought one backpack along with him, which was completely different to their conjecture-that he would hire a large group of workers to help him in shifting to the new community. He handed a wrist watch to the agent, who took it for appraisal, and after coming back, happily signed a contract with him.
From today onwards, both the top floor and the basement of the multi-storeyed Residential Unit 1, Building 1 in Moon Bay Garden would belong to him.
As he wandered around the neighborhood with his backpack slung on his shoulders, he coincidentally saw a car parked not far away after turning a corner, and he couldn't help but curve his lips in a shallow arc in response.
Hiding in the exact same car and watching Fan Jialuo, the police on monitoring duty couldn't restrain themselves from swearing, "This fucking fox! After several days, we still haven't found any clues. I'm afraid the leader won't be able to withstand the pressure coming from the superiors for this case if it's delayed any longer! Fan Jialuo, if you fucking have the ability to issue a death notice, then let us see you act on it!"
"I think he's playing us!" The police officer beside him agitatedly spoke in a low voice.
"Not necessarily. If we really think so and then relax, he may start to act. Wait-right now, we just have to wait!" As he said this, the two of them exited the car, following Fan Jialuo's footsteps from a distance.
The Moon Bay Garden Community covered a vast area, with a green mountain at its back and lake in front of it. There were also a number of large shopping malls, hospitals, subway stations, schools, government agencies, and other amenities located in close proximity to it. Whether it was the airport or the railway station, both were reachable within 20 minutes. Its geographical location was vastly superior, the supporting facilities were very thorough, and the environment was particularly picturesque.
In addition, the community had been developed by the leading enterprise in the real estate industry in China. The level of development that went into this enterprise was well-known worldwide, and its quality of property management was also reputable. With such good conditions, buying a house in this community was almost a guarantee that the buyer would never make a loss. Therefore, when the properties in the Moon Bay Garden Community were first put on the market, the price per square meter went as high as 100,000 RMB and even then, the demand outstripped the supply of houses available.
However, after the first batch of houses were sold, the situation changed drastically. At the very beginning, accidents had started to occur frequently at the construction sites, and then the new owners, who had moved into their purchased properties, also began to suffer strange accidents over and over again. In the worst cases, some people even died. Such similar situations happened too often and were too concentrated to this area only, which eventually led to rumours saying that Moon Bay Garden had bad feng shui. Due to this, many residents moved out and the off-plan buyers, who had not yet even received their houses, began to consider the possibility of withdrawing.
After only half a year, Dingsheng International Company's most promising project had gone under. What was initially supposed to be a beautiful garden district was now being called a ghost district by the people of Beijing. None of the houses could be sold, the second and third construction phases of the project had also been affected, and now the entire project was in a state of suspension.

An unfinished steel building stood by itself in the community, shrouded by the fog that came from the nearby mountains. It's silhouette was not unlike that of an ugly and ferocious monster, further intensifying the gloomy community atmosphere and making it even more terrifying.
As the two police officers walked into the community, they felt their heart turn cold. They really didn't understand why Fan Jialuo would move to such a place. Was it because it was cheap? But the watch he mortgaged to the agent was worth enough for him to rent the most luxurious apartment in Beijing for a whole year!
On the other hand, the one being regarded as a spendthrift and a fool by the two officers-Fan Jialuo-was very satisfied with the community. He went to the door of Residential Unit 1, Building 1 and prepared to swipe the access card. At this moment, a group of people approached the very same building with great momentum. Their leader was over 190 cm tall, and could be regarded as one who stood out from the crowd. He was wearing an expensive black suit, had quite an impressive bearing, and coupled with his handsome appearance, he gave off an aura of being extremely rich-all in all, a very extraordinary man.
Fan Jialuo only glanced at the other casually, but with this single glance, he felt his entire mind being taken over by that tall man. He stared at the other person rather fixedly; he simply couldn't move his eyes away. He thought that it was out of the ordinary to be able to find land which was practically a feng shui treasure in an over-developed city such as Beijing, but he didn't expect there to be something else so precious hidden in this precious land!
He stroked his bright red lips, and his smile suddenly widened, showing his exceeding happiness. Then, putting the access card back into his backpack, he slowly walked over. In the process of advancing, he suddenly remembered a certain phrase from the Internet-In a minute, I want all the information on this man!
It was a pity that the current Fan Jialuo had no authority nor power, so it was impossible for him to immediately find out the other's identity, let alone approach him at will. That man was dignified, noble and had sharp eyes. At a glance, he could tell that the man was not a simple person.
When the two policemen noticed that Fan Jialuo intended to approach the group of people who had just appeared, they hurried to follow while whispering to each other, "The leader looks a little familiar. Did he realise that Fan Jialuo has been looking at him? Will it have something to do with the case?"
"Just look. Ah, wait a minute, I remember, that tall man seems to be Bai Mu, the new head of the Bai Family! Their statuses are too far apart for Fan Jialuo to know him, right?"
Under the surveillance of the two police officers, Fan Jialuo headed over, but he did not abruptly approach the group, opting to just watch silently from the side.
An elderly gray-haired man, with an outstanding appearance and a sage-like bearing, said, "Mr. Bai, I can't afford this business. Please find someone else."
"Master Zhou, this junior knows of your ability. Please help me this once, we can slowly discuss the reward again." The man's voice was deep and magnetic.
Fan Jialuo inched closer and inspected the man with a focused eye.
Master Zhou repeatedly shook his head. "Mr. Bai, I'm not the kind of person who would loot a burning house and ask for a sky-high price. If I say I can't handle it, I really can't. You see, your land is backed by a crab-shaped mountain and one of its precipices is directly facing the community. The water from the waterfall is releasing a rumbling sound, which is resounding far and wide, a typical water pattern of sorrow. It will hinder people from being able to maintain their wealth and support their families. After a long time of exposure to it, the separation of a husband and wife is inevitable. Each side will die! If you look at the river in front of the community, the quality of the water flowing through it is really quite good and it is also pleasant to look at, but its current is too fast. Moreover, there are many strange rocks inside it, causing the water flow to be turbulent, so it's easy for terrible and evil people to gather here."

Master Zhou successively pointed to the mountain, the water, and then to the road at the side as he explained, "Additionally, there is a big problem with this road. I can see that you originally wanted to build a U-shaped jade belt to wrap up and contain the wealth, right? But the arc of the road was not made deep enough and round enough, thus resulting in it forming a sharp corner and allowing the white tiger to reach the land, so the people who live here will lose all their wealth, ultimately even losing their lives!!"
Master Zhou sighed deeply, then continued to point out, "The foundation here has not been built well. In order to pursue the so-called modern style, it has been made into a polygon, there are acute angles and sharp corners everywhere. This is a typical fire-shaped house. People living here will suffer from disasters related to fire, and will be especially accident-prone. The plague of blood will accompany them all year round!"
Master Zhou walked to the ornamental pond in front of the door of Residential Unit 1, Building 1, and shook his head repeatedly. "You didn't choose the right location for this pond. This building is called kunzhai, and it has been built from the southwest direction to the northeast, while this pond is built in the northeast- in genfang. The final outcome of such a positioning is zhengshenshui wherein wealth will drain away. Due to the reversal of zero, the fate of people living in this house will be repeated, and it also makes it easier for them to encounter accidents."
Master Zhou raised his head, looked at the whole community and concluded in a helpless tone, "If there were only one or two problems, I would be able to help you correct them, but you have problems everywhere. Can you flatten the mountain behind you? Or break the flow of the waterfall? Rivers can't be cut off, roads can't be changed, and foundations can't be demolished and rebuilt easily. What do you want me to do? Mr. Bai, I've advised people on feng shui for a lifetime. Even then, this is the first time I've seen such a big problem. I can't help you. Please find another master!"
Master Zhou took his apprentice with him as he walked away. He looked as if he had seen something very astonishing in the world today.
The group of elites watched them walk into the distance. Their faces paled, turning blue and purple; it was quite a marvelous sight to behold. They didn't expect the feng shui of the Moon Bay Garden Community to be bad to such an extent. It was no wonder then that even though hundreds of households had moved in eagerly at the beginning, they had all left by now, with only an odd few number of people remaining. Moreover, the only reason why these remaining dozens hadn't moved out was because the money required to purchase a house in this community had emptied their family's wallet, meaning they had nowhere else to go.
A month ago, some of the owners had gathered at the entrance of the community to protect their rights. Later, a runaway car, hurtling down the roadside, rammed into this gathering and had killed three people instantly, so now even these people were gone. Since then, the reputation of this 'ghost district' had increased and it had become more famous. The Dingsheng International Company had invested a lot of money in this project. If this problem was not solved, the company's chain of working capital was liable to break at any time, and the whole group would face imminent financing risks.
The tall man stared at Master Zhou's back for a long time. His expression was steady during this time, but the depths of his eyes were obscure, and his thoughts were even more unfathomable.
Fan Jialuo laughed as he listened to Master Zhuo's remarks. He was amused that although this person's initial comments were fair, the latter part of it was not quite right. The main issue here was not the patterns present in the surroundings, but the terrain. It seemed that they had yet to discover that the land holding up Moon Bay Garden Community was low and surrounded by a raised landmass, making the overall structure not dissimilar to a pitfall. All the feng shui patterns surrounding this pitfall were full of sorrow, heavy and congealed. This sorrow could not be scattered, hence it gradually converged at the bottom of the pitfall, and after a long time, formed a place where jiuyin gathered, attracting evil spirits on earth to this place.
There was no way to change the geomancy of the place where jiuyin appeared, unless all the sha qi deposited at the bottom was sucked up and destroyed immediately. Thinking to this point, Fan Jialuo licked his lips and felt a little hungry. He retrieved his access card from his backpack, passed through the middle of this group of elites, and inadvertently touched President Bai as he brushed shoulders with him as he walked past.
His cold fingertips caressed the back of Bai Mu's hand, which caused the other to quickly return to his senses. He dodged and frowned, as if unaccustomed to being touched. Aware that his subordinates were also approaching, he hurriedly retreated to the periphery of the group, creating a distance and keeping far away.
Seeing Bai Mu's response, the smile at the corner of Fan Jialuo's mouth deepened. He sniffed at the other person's lingering breath deeply, opened the door and walked into his apartment building.
Bai Mu looked up at this unique and resplendent building with eyes seeped in bitterness.

The group of people outside finally left. The two policemen continued to monitor Fan Jialuo, but this did not hinder him in the slightest. He abandoned the elevator and chose to walk slowly to the top floor, listening for movements in the building as he walked by-there seemed to be a family living on the 4th floor, from the sound of children playing; there was a couple living on the 7th floor, who were currently quarreling fiercely, the man had a bad temper, he was smashing things inside the house; the 8th floor, the 9th floor, and the 10th floor were very quiet, it was unknown whether anyone lived there.
When he reached the 17th floor, he met a little boy. The little boy was huddled, with his knees close to his chest, in a corner of the stairwell. His forehead, mouth, neck, the back of his hands... every patch of visible skin was covered in an assortment of large and small bruises, coloured blue and purple. At the sound of Fan Jialuo's footsteps, the little boy looked up; there was no light within his eyes.
"Hello," Fan Jialuo greeted him with a smile, and then slowly continued up.
The little boy looked at his back with a numb expression, but in the next second, he jerked into a standing position before running downstairs in a panic. A middle-aged woman came out of a house, running into the stairwell at a faster speed and then seizing the little boy head on. He was subjected to a round of punches, kicks, and insults, the woman simply didn't treat the little boy as a person.
Where an ordinary person would be intolerant of this type of atrocity, Fan Jialuo seemed to see nothing and single-mindedly went straight up to the 18th floor where his apartment was located. The room number was 1818, a very auspicious number. The interior decoration was also luxurious, the only flaw would be that there was a musty smell in the air.
He opened the windows for ventilation, swept the floors for dust, and finally went into the bathroom for a bath. This time, instead of preparing ice cubes, he laid directly in water which was at room temperature. A large expanse of deep purple spread quietly along his shoulder and neck and reached his chest and abdomen, and it was followed by a faint and unpleasant smell of putrefaction.
There was no doubt that the condition of this body was reaching its limits.
