《Psychic》Ch24 - Zhao Wenyan

Zhao Wenyan looked at the familiar yet strange youth, and only after sitting still for a long time did he ask in a hoarse voice, "Did you get a facelift?"
However, as soon as his own voice fell, he shook his head secretly, denying the speculation he had come up with.
No, this person hadn't gotten a facelift. His face was still the same, and his facial features were also still the same. The difference now was that his facial lines had become much softer and much clearer.
The biggest change was actually in his pupils. They were darker, purer and deeper than before-completely different from anyone else's pupils in the world. With just this pair of pupils, the young man sitting beside him had completely subverted all the previous impressions that Fan Jialuo had left on others-it was as if he had been reborn.
"What's your name?" Zhao Wenyan couldn't restrain his inner impulse and asked this question.
"What do you want to say?" Instead of answering, Fan Jialuo repeated his previous question as he took the recording pen from the other's hand and fiddled with it. He appeared to be somewhat curious, with his eyes slightly more luminous than before.
Zhao Wenyan felt as if he had been scalded by that brightening light for a moment. He withdrew his body, clenched the steering wheel and said, "Turn on the recording function, what I'm about to say is very important for Fan Jialuo."
Zhao Wenyan quickly glanced at the other person before he added, "Of course, since you share one body, and these words are also important for you."
It took only a few seconds for Fan Jialuo to understand how to use the recording pen. After pressing the record button, he chuckled, "You talk, I'll listen."
His voice was gentle and soothing, and a trace of hoarse laughter reverberated in the car, tickling Zhao Wenyan's eardrums and making them tingle.
Zhao Wenyan tried to resist the desire to use his fingers to clear his ears, as he slowly said, "I didn't want to control you..."
Realizing that the man in front of him was not the one he disliked, he immediately changed his words. "...It's not that I wanted to meddle in Fan Jialuo's affair, but I heard that you were arrested by the police. Fan Kaixuan repeatedly asked me to help bail you out. By the way, you should know who Fan Kaixuan is, right?"
"Yes, he is a person who should not have existed," Fan Jialuo nodded as he replied with a smile.
Zhao Wenyan thought that this was an impression left by the original master's personality on the sub-personality. Although it was not pleasant to hear, he hadn't spoken wrongly-for Fan Jialuo, Fan Kaixuan was indeed a person who should not have existed.
"Don't be so hostile to him. Being hostile towards him... is not good for you," Zhao Wenyan warned cautiously.
"What kind of person is he?" Fan Jialuo tilted his head slightly as he asked, and his eyes sparkled with interest.
Zhao Wenyan took a file out of his bag as he replied, " He is totally different from you. While you were still acting like a spoiled baby in Mrs. Fan's arms, he had already gotten mixed in New York's street communities. Due to his poor family circumstances, he had a hard time in his early years, and he had done almost any and all kind of work.
"But, he is also a genius. Nothing can hold him back. As long as he is given an opportunity, he'll soar to the sky. He's only six years older than you, but he has already founded a venture capital company. Investment projects led by him have an 100% success rate, and their rate of return in terms of profit increases exponentially.

"On Wall Street, he is known as the 'Golden Hand', and even international tycoons are not a match for him. You won't even be able to begin to imagine the number of connections and amount of wealth he has accumulated over the years. The Fan Family are nothing in his eyes. What are you going to use to fight against him?"
Zhao Wenyan quickly glanced at Fan Jialuo and continued, "As long as you don't get in Fan Kaixuan's way, he won't act against you. Unlike Fan Luoshan, his method of operating leaves his opponents with no room for maneuver.
"In the end, you are his nominal brother. He has to make sure you live like a decent person in order to look good. This is a check and the documents of a property he has left to you. If you want to stay in Beijing, don't bother him. But my suggestion would be that you go abroad. China has no place left for you anymore."
When Fan Jialuo opened the file, he found a check for five million and a real estate certificate.
Zhao Wenyan stared at his side profile and advised, "This villa is in a good location and should sell for more than 20 million yuan. You still owe the company 80 million yuan in liquidated damages, and several advertisers are preparing to sue you in order to claim compensation from you. I advise you not to only focus on the profits in front of you, but to also sell the villa in order to pay back part of your debts, otherwise you won't even be able to take a step out of the country."
Thinking of the thick stack of summons sent by the court, Fan Jialuo finally realized the troubles faced by ordinary people. But he still did not plan to sell the property, and only politely nodded at the other's suggestion. "I would like to thank you for your help today. If Fan Kaixuan returns, please thank him on my behalf."
"No need to thank me. Just listen to me." Zhao Wenyan maneuvered his car back onto the road, but his attention could no longer be taken away from this brand-new version of Fan Jialuo.
His temper seemed to be very gentle, and he was also very polite. His manner of speech and actions were both flavored with a gracefulness found only in a very well-educated person.
Honestly speaking, Zhao Wenyan liked the current Fan Jialuo much more than the original one.
The atmosphere in the car was very quiet and serene, which made the wrinkles on Zhao Wenyan's eyebrows loosen up and disappear by a lot. After some time, the car finally reached Moon Bay Garden Community.
As he stared at the pitch-black entrance gate, Zhao Wenyan was about to say that the community did not seem to be a livable place and that it would be better for Fan Jialuo to move as soon as possible, but he was interrupted by the sudden ringing of his mobile phone.
Fan Jialuo opened the car door and said goodbye with a smile.
Zhao Wenyan also said goodbye in a perfunctory tone. Upon seeing the name of the caller on the mobile phone's screen, his eyebrows couldn't help but scrunch up again, while his face turned green in anger. He had descended into a terrible mood within a split second.
However, when the call connected, the tone in which he spoke was very gentle, and the words he spoke were full of deep emotion, but his eyes betrayed his inner struggle and pain; it was almost as if his soul had been split into two completely different parts.

Fan Jialuo, who initially wanted to close the car door and walk away, now bent down and stared at Zhao Wenyan with a pair of twinkling eyes. The phone call had completely aroused his interest.
After the call connected, a sweet voice was immediately transmitted from the microphone. "Hello, Dear. What are you doing? Do you miss me?"
With a tug on his lips, Zhao Wenyan replied, "Of course I miss you. When will you be returning?"
"I'll be back next week." The woman's voice became a little bit softer, cautiousness delicately seeping into her tone as she continued speaking, "Dear, have you been following the news lately?"
"You want to ask me if I've heard about your love scandal with Steve?" Zhao Wenyan's mouth slowly pressed into a straight line as his eyes turned dark, emitting almost no light, but his tender and compassionate tone remained the same as he conversed, "You don't need to explain to me, of course I believe you. Anyway, what time will you be back next week? I'll arrange the flight back for you."
"I knew you would believe me!" The woman's voice was very sweet, as if it had been soaked in honey. "I'll be coming back next Wednesday, will you pick me up?"
"Okay, I'll pick you up myself." Zhao Wenyan lit a cigarette, placed it into his mouth and inhaled deeply-all this while, his expression remained gentle, but his eyes had quietly become covered in a layer of haze.
After a few seconds of silence, the woman said, "The Movie and Television City my brother is building in Sichuan, can you invest in it? Wenyan, please consider our feelings and lend him a helping hand, or he will fall so hard that he won't be able to get up in the future." At this point, the woman's voice sounded a bit choked up-it seemed to carry some unspoken sorrow.
Zhao Wenyan nodded his head in a habitual manner without even thinking, but on realizing his unconscious gesture, his tightly grit teeth clenched hard enough to bite off the cigarette filter.
The woman said a few more sweet words and hung up the phone.
Staring at the black lacquered phone screen, Zhao Wenyan, who had been very gentle one second, pulled out a paper towel in the next, where he then spit out the cigarette filter that only had a few inches left. There was even a trace of something along the edge of the cigarette filter, something that was as bright red as flesh-even the tip of his tongue had been bitten.
Zhao Wenyan wiped off the blood stains at the corners of his mouth without showing any expression, rolled the tissue into a ball and threw it into the car's garbage compartment. He had originally been holding the mobile in his palm while thinking about the absence of the relevant emotions, but in that moment, he unhesitatingly opened the window and hurled it at the wall of the gated community.
With a loud bang, the mobile phone shattered into countless pieces, and his face gradually showed some fierceness.
Fan Jialuo watched the drama quietly. After Zhao Wenyan's breathing had calmed and was not so heavy, he asked politely, "Are you alright?"
Zhao Wenyan suddenly turned to look at him, eyes full of surprise. "You haven't left yet?"
"Are you alright?" Once again, Fan Jialuo repeated the previous question.
Zhao Wenyan replied with a slight smile, "I'm fine. I heard that this community is not very safe. Go home quickly. You'd better deal with the compensation for the liquidated damages as soon as possible. Don't delay, or you'll get stuck on the blacklist.
"Although I am the company's CEO, I can't exempt you from all the liquidated damages. 80 million yuan is not a small amount and I can't pass such an amount through the board of directors. I can only help you get more time, so try your best.
"It would also be better if you didn't go to Fan Kaixuan. Although he has given you a check and a real estate property, it's just for the sake of his face and reputation. He is a very face-conscious person, but is by no means a good person. If someone offends him, his means of dealing with that person are more ruthless than that of Fan Luoshan."
After listening to Zhao Wenyan's words carefully, Fan Jialuo nodded. "I understand. Thank you for your advice. Don't worry, I've got an idea on how to handle the matter of liquidated damages. See you later."
Fan Jialuo stretched out two long and slender fingers to his forehead in a gesture of farewell.
Zhao Wenyan's gaze was attracted to these two white and dazzling fingers. By the time he returned to his senses, the young man's figure had been completely engulfed by the pitch black darkness past the entrance gate. His eyes followed the direction in which the other had disappeared. After a long while of staring, he wiped his face and ended up revealing a rare gesture of embarrassment.
In that same moment, as he walked, Fan Jialuo typed 'Su Fengxi' in the Internet search bar. Countless webpages sprung up and highlighted the influence of this International Movie Queen.
The hottest piece of news about her currently was related to her love affair with Oscar winner and Movie King Steve Carter. Photos of the two people hugging and even kissing had already spread all over China.
Fan Jialuo opened Su Fengxi's Weibo and saw the letter of clarification that had been issued by her, which stated that the two of them were only filming without any personal feelings. The so-called secret photos were just stills. Her fans were battling against black powder to defend her innocence.
In fact, this was not the first clarification issued by Su Fengxi.
She would come out to clarify a scandal every once in a while. Her partners in the scandals were all distinguished men from the entertainment circle, business circle and even the military and political circles. An ordinary person wouldn't even enter her line of sight.
In the original words of her fans-Su Fengxi is just a walking male-god reaper. Anyone who sees her will become fascinated by her.
She claimed to be single, but the original host's memories told Fan Jialuo-She and Zhao Wenyan were lovers.
Zhao Wenyan had been escorting her ever since her days as a fledgling newcomer. He had made movies solely for her, had robbed resources and had handled disputes. In the period of five years, he had gifted her a role in an award-winning movie, then he had further invested a vast sum of money to send her to Hollywood for further development. And now, she was an International Movie Queen.
Without Zhao Wenyan, there would be no Su Fengxi.
There was no doubt that they were in true love.

Pocket Dungeon Lite
Based on the Pocket Dungeon original novel made by Stuckin (I asked for his permission beforehand). I do not know if this could count as a fanfiction as I made up many elements on the go so, for now, I will list this as an original but if Stuckin-sama would like me to change it I will be fine with doing so. This is somewhat of a self-insert but I made sure not to make the MC to OP. Also, the creator of the cover is Vurguy I tried to contact him to ask for permission but couldn't due to technical issues please go support him on Deviant Art and I don't own the picture so if he wants me to take it down than I am completely okay with doing so. As I am an improving author, I am glad to receive any constructive criticism or critical review I just hope that everyone will give me a chance before they yell at me for something or at least tell me what made them angry so I know what the issue is and can figure out how to deal with it. For now, my schedule is 1-2 chapters a week and if I am busy with either work or school 1-3 chapters every 2 weeks. I expect a bunch of chapters at the beginning around 5 or so and for me to continue from there. I will try my best to keep some chapters in storage for any time where I can't write for whatever reason. I will continue to change this part of the synopsis if anything changes in my update schedule. - From a thoughtful Author Pocket Dungeon is a widespread interstellar game that has captivated the attention of many races and civilizations. Nowadays in the 2300s anyone not living under a rock would grow up with a dungeon and learn to manage it over time as they make mistakes along the way. But as all things go there is always an exception and this exception can be found in Nadezhda Ledopad who had an overprotective family that didn't let him interact with anything but those they deemed worthy and safe. This overprotectiveness caused them to forbid him from gaining a pocket dungeon as they knew with his intelligence and specialties in certain fields he would become a strong dungeon master, quickly. This was something his family was very much against as they knew that his competitiveness and duty to maintain the Ledopad family's reputation would push him to win in the competitions that he would inevitably get invited too. This all changed when Nadezh graduated high school and moved to the Celestial Plane capital star as a Prodigal student in planetary conservation (major) and revival of species through DNA transferal (minor). His brother in all but blood Tet schemed to get him into Pocket Dungeons when they got there as no one would keep Nadezh from playing. Nadezh excited to join his peers in this famous game looked forward to doing so. But with this one decision, many futures changed and the Fates laughed as people of strong destinies meet together on this plane. Warning - This will probably contain LGBT+ relationships. You have been warned, I will not tolerate stupidity to the ninth degree in the comment section and I hope that people can be logical enough to GO AWAY if they don't like this kind of thing. If you don't feel comfortable with mature or explicit scenes I will put a warning in the chapters or parts with such and I just wanted all of you to know that this will be a long novel as with most novel I will write in the future so don't expect a deep romantic relationship anytime soon.
