Emergency services called me that night,

You were drunk, you had drove,

You were fighting for your life.

I didn't have the time to think,

Or to ask,

But I made my way to you,

Praying that night wasn't your last.

I remember seeing you there,

Lay on your bed.

You were scared, confused,

Couldn't fathom what was said.

When I questioned your motive,

You didn't know why,

You just said it was hard to handle the pain inside.

I didn't recognise you,

You didn't look the same,

You were barely even responsive to your own name.

I didn't know if you remembered me,

Remembered my face.

But I hoped that in there somewhere,

I'd still have my place.

You scared me so badly,

I was worried to death.

But I couldn't ridicule you,

I'd be wasting my breath.

Seeing you in pain was a serious shock,

The image of you almost lifeless is something my mind tries so hard to block.

Unfortunately for me,

I remember that night like the back of my hand,

I struggle with the flashbacks as the whole event wasn't planned.

I didn't expect it,

Clearly neither did you.

What would've happened if nobody was around,

Seriously, what would you do?

What had you done?

What were you thinking?

I begged you not to do it again,

To cut out the drinking.
