《Sky: Children from The Unknown》chapter 2

Elsewhere in the Hidden Forest, someone was walking through a forest that was raining at that time. She walked to a gate and opened it with the fire from the candle she was carrying.
There, is a place for the spirit memory ‘shiver’ right to the right. She descended into the center of the area and entered a hidden spot just below the left side of the place.
The place was almost like a cave with a painting telling about their 'kind'. Arriving at the end of the place, she lit a candle that was standing there lighting up another painting in there.
For a few moments, she just stared at the painting until she got closer and touched the painting on the wall.
Without realizing it, she pressed an invisible button that was deeply embedded in the stone wall. The stones slowly moved one by one to reveal a secret passage that no one had known before.
She was taken aback, cautiously slowly walking into the secret room. When she entered, the stones had automatically closed by themselves. Leaving her in shock and confusion as to how she will come out later.
The place was so dark, even a candle she brought with her didn't help her at all. With no other choice, she ended up continuing her journey through the place with her hammer ready to call whenever she needed.
She kept going and walking. With a candle she held aloft to light the place. Until something catches her eye.
Someone, to be more precise a child, was lying in the middle of the darkness. Fall asleep as if nothing bad is going to happen.
She thought hard again, how can a child be here? How long has that child been here? Why doesn't that child have 'wings'? What happened to the child? Question after question flowed into her head about the child.

She decided to walk slowly toward the child. When she got close enough, the child suddenly moved and slowly opened her eyes. Instantly she froze in place, continuing to watch the child movements.
The child blinked slowly, looked around for a moment then stopped at her feet. The child followed the direction of the leg and looked up at her face. Staring. They just stared at each other for a moment.
Not sure what to do, she walked over, knelt right in front of the child and asked in a stern voice piercing her, "what are you doing in this place?"
The child just tilted her head. Blink a few times. The child sat quietly, suddenly put one hand on the mask startled her and broke the silence "mama?"

Esper: Search for Power
Dan Martin has a good life. He's respected at his job, and enjoys his work. He is close to his family, and they love and support him. With engaging hobbies, relative financial security, and freedom to learn and pursue his interests, Dan is happy. So it's not particularly welcome when he's selected by an inscrutable and seemingly omnipotent System as a test subject. The downsides: All of this is insane and by any rational analysis he's gonna die. The upsides: Super powers, a cure for a physical disability that had limited him, and above all, so very much to learn (for as long as he can avoid dying). I am very much a beginner as an author, and any feedback or suggestions on how to improve would be deeply appreciated. Chapter releases should be daily for the first two weeks and sporadic after that as I use up my buffer. Please consider this work as a rough draft subject to revision and/or retcon. It is not only my first attempt at original story telling, but at world building and RPG style system design. The latter has been very difficult, even drawing on the brilliant work of many RPGs and LitRPGs for inspiration. Thank you to any willing to give a new story and a new writer a try!
