《It's just me and you》Chapter 6- After Party
Advertisement
My fathers celebratory business party was coming to an end. I was still outside at the bar. The barista had already left and said his goodbyes. I was alone and a little drunk to be completely honest so I'll probably ask Alfred for a ride. I don't want to stay at my fathers place tonight because I know he'll just try convincing me to live with him again and frankly I like my own place. I hate asking Alfred to do things for me even though he's technically my butler, I see him as a second father but I've never told him that.
I savor the last sip of my Martini that I had asked the barista to make before he left. I place the glass down and sigh as I know I have to head out before it gets too late. I get off my seat and stumble my way back inside.
As I walk in I see an all too focused Elizabeth wiping down tables with a cleaning rag. A small smile appears on my face. It's adorable how focused she is. I can't help but stare at the sight in front of me.
"Can I help you?" a teasing voice says.
I look up and meet her green eyes. Her lips grow into a small smirk.
I can't believe she just caught me staring. I'm such an idiot. She probably thinks I'm a perv, how great.
I clear my throat "Depends... How good is your stamina?" My eyes go wide. Did I seriously just say that. I really need to stop drinking.
She immediately starts laughing and bends down holding her stomach.
After a while she gets up and speaks.
"You are something else. How many drinks?" She asks while composing herself.
I furrow my brows in thought "maybe around eight? Im sorry that just came out, I didn't mean to make you feel uncomfortable" I nervously say.
She puts up a hand and shakes her head. "It's okay trust me I've heard worse." She says offering a reassuring smile.
It makes me sad that she's heard worse. I don't know her that well but I know she definitely doesn't deserve that type of treatment.
"I'm sorry, you don't deserve that Elizabeth" I say while looking down.
"Hey.." she says softly trying to get me to look at her. I ignore her and continue looking down.
She hits me with her cleaning rag. Not aggressively but just to get my attention.
I look up meeting her soft gaze.
"I know I just met you but I know that you didn't mean it, I can tell that you're a good person y/n" she says sternly.
I bite the inside of my cheek. That last part brought back unwanted memories of my mother. She never thought I was good let alone a good person. I hate showing emotions so I just shove all those feelings down and nod at Elizabeth's words.
I think she took notice of my sudden behavior because she started rubbing the side of my arm.
"Also, please call me Lizzie" she says.
I smile "of course, Lizzie" I say.
She looks down and I know she's trying to hide her blushing.
I take off my blazer and put it behind a chair and I slowly roll up my sleeves.

I see Lizzie looking at me with furrowed brows.
"Relax, let me help you" I say as I take away her cleaning rag and begin wiping down the table.
"What are you doing?" she asks.
I shrug my shoulders and continue. "Two is better than one. I can help you finish faster" I say confidently.
She sighs "Y/n-"
"Get back to work" I say demandingly
"Or else...I'll tell my father you're slacking off" I tease.
She laughs "okay but please clean the tables correctly or else your father will think I'm a lazy slob" she says.
I scoff "look at me. I was born to clean tables, I'm a pro" I say sarcastically.
She rolls her eyes and laughs softly.
"Okay, I'll clean the ones over here and you clean the ones over there and we meet back here when we're done, deal?" She asks.
I nod and stick out my hand. She looks at it confused.
I sigh "In order to make a deal, you always need a handshake. Remember that" I say seriously.
She nods and sticks out her hand. I smile as an idea comes to mind. I quickly lick my hand and shake hers. I hear her yelp and I quickly jolt out of her grasp running away from her.
"That wasn't funny!" I hear her yell. I smile as I hear her laughing from afar.
"I'll get you back!" She declares. I shake my head and work on some nearby tables.
After a while of cleaning tables, I finally head over to the last dirty table and begin wiping it down.
"Never would I have imagined you cleaning tables" a familiar voice says.
I look up "Alfred you've seen me clean tables before" I say.
"Why yes, but not happily. You look very happy cleaning right now." He says while squinting his eyes in suspicion.
I look down "I don't know what you're talking about" I say trying to avoid what he's implying.
He lightly chuckles and clicks his tongue. "I think you know what I'm talking about or shall I say who?" He says while giving me a devilish grin.
I roll my eyes and wipe the last spec. "I'm just happy, that's all." I say unconvincingly.
He looks at me with a puzzled expression like he's trying to read my thoughts.
I tap his shoulder "I'm happy to see you Alf, I did miss you" I say sincerely.
He shakes his head. "As did I miss y/l/n" he says.
"And don't try to change the subject, I know you" he says sternly.
I smile teasingly "did you hear that?" I say gesturing to my ear.
He gives me a confused look.
"I think my fathers calling me, talk to you later" I say as I start to walk away.
He gives me a disapproving look "I know what you did there! You better tell me about her soon" he says happily.
I laugh and see my dad waving off some guests at the entrance. He says his last goodbyes to them and turns to me and his smile quickly disappears.
"Hey da-"
"My office now" he says while walking past me.
I hesitantly follow behind him and see Alfred giving me a worried look and I just give him a reassuring nod.

I walk in his office and he's sitting at his desk.
"Sit" he says sternly.
I sit on the chair in front of him.
"What you did tonight has no excuse" he says.
"I can't believe you treated my assistant like that" he says.
I know there's no way for me to get out of this and I don't want to cause anymore problems so I'll just do the grownup thing and apologize.
"I'm sorry, It won't happen again and If you'd like I can write a written apology to Calvin" I say.
He aggressively slams his arms on the desk. "His name is Colin! don't act like you don't know his name!" He says.
I honestly called him Calvin so many times that I thought that was his real name. Dammit.
"I meant Calvin- I mean Colin, sorry!" I say and Burry my head in my hands.
He scoffs "I don't need you to write anything, just promise me it won't happen again" he says.
I contemplate on what to say. I look up "it won't dad, I promise" i say.
He gives me a weak smile "He's a good man, you just have to get to know him, will you do that for me?" He asks nervously.
The only person I want to get know is his girlfriend.
I take a deep breathe "of course" I say while giving my father a fake smile.
"Also, Alfred is going to give me a ride home" I say.
"Honey, why don't you just stay the night?" He asks sadly.
I quickly come up with an excuse "it's the weekend and I already made plans with Cam for tomorrow" I say nervously.
He nods in understanding "Tell him to come visit me, I miss him. How are you two doing?" He asks eagerly.
My father loves Cameron they're like best friends and they usually team up on me when we all hang out together.
"We're doing good, you know us and I'll let him know to come visit." I say nicely.
He nods and walks towards me. I get up and bring him into a hug. He hugs me so tight I can barely breathe. When he lets loose he pats my back.
"When will you come back to work? I miss seeing everyone so scared." He laughs.
When I worked with my father, I was strictly professional. I even fired some people that I thought weren't a good fit for the company. I was honestly so good at the job that everyone was afraid of me and did what I asked when I asked. I do kinda miss it but I enjoy my free time.
"I'll let you know when" I say as I'm about to head out.
A question from earlier pops up in my head and I turn around to ask. My father is already sitting at his desk and opening his computer.
"Why did you hire Elizabeth?" I ask concerned.
He looks at me confused.
"The Cater. Elizabeth. Why did you hire her, she's not really your first choice when hiring caters" I say because I know my father only hires older people to cater at his parties.
He smiles brightly "for you" he says happily.
I furrow my brows.
"When I interviewed her. She seemed different. A good different. I like her, for you." He says.
"And I also saw her as a potential future assistant." He says nervously.
I scoff "Dad you already have an assistant, Colin remember?" I say teasingly.
He sighs deeply but his eyes light up as he looks at me "Not for me, for you. One day you'll run my company and I just want the best for you, I always have." He says and looks down, i know he's getting emotional and honestly I am too.
I walk over behind his chair and I hug him from behind.
"I love you, never forget that okay?" I say.
He nods "I won't and I hope you won't either" he says and wipes his eyes as I let go.
I walk away "Don't stay up too late dad. Even old men need their sleep" I say jokingly.
He laughs "don't forget your manners y/n!" He shouts as I walk out.
As I walk out I see Lizzie having a conversation with Alfred.
I walk towards them and i sneakily walk behind Alfred and give Lizzie a glare to not blow my cover. She seems to get the idea and keeps Alfred distracted.
I quickly shake him "ALFRED!" I say loudly.
He quickly jolts up "oh great heavens" he says in between ragged breaths.
I bend down laughing.
"I could've had a heart attack" he says while smacking my back.
I compose myself and see Lizzie suppressing a laugh by covering her mouth.
"You two find this amusing? and here I thought you were mature" Alfred scolds.
"I'm sorry alf, I had to." I say while side hugging him with an arm. He shakes his head and embraces me.
"I'm guessing you need a ride home?" He asks.
"Pretty please" I tease.
"I'll meet you outside, and it was a pleasure miss Olsen" he says and shakes Lizzie's hand. He gives me a wink and walks away.
Lizzie looks at me sincerely. If my dad has a good feeling about her I want to get to know her.
"I don't want to be too forward but can I get your number?" I ask nervously.
She smiles softly "of course"
I walk over to my fathers coffee table and get a pen. I hand it to Lizzie and she grabs my hand gently and slowly writes her number.
She casually looks up at me in between numbers which makes me nervous. I think she took notice because she was softly laughing. when she was done she handed me the pen.
"Please don't send me any weird pictures" she pleads teasingly.
I smile "Of course not, unless you ask me to" I say.
She playfully punches my shoulder.
I laugh "have a good night Elizabeth" I say softly.
She nods "take care, don't make any stupid decisions y/n" She says genuinely.
"I never do!" I say as I begin to walk out.
I make my way into Alfred's car into the passengers seat.
"There's that smile again" he says teasing me.
"Whatever, drive me home Alf" I say happily
He chuckles and continues driving.
